Disagree re Pope. I'll back him to do that any day. Any half decent connection and its 2nd tier. Thats the way they play and it works. I wont criticise the decision. Its a good option. He just got it right on the toe of the bat and it looped up. Shame but i want them to take it on.
There's more than one way to be attacking.
We could still easily tick along at 4 or 5 an over without those sorts of risks.
Get 5 an over with singles and twos, the Aussies will change their tactics. Trying to clear the fielders is a massively high risk shot when we are still 200 behind.
Exactly!! Batting like this is the equivalent of bowling the exact same ball again and again.
KP said it but it reminded me of a story I heard of an Indian coach. A young batsman making his debut got out for a duck. The coach put his arm around him and told him not to worry about it. Next innings he came off somewhat pleased with his 40. The coach absolutely tore into him. Once in, don't give them a chance to get you out. Crawley, Pope and Duckett all got in and were in no trouble on a wicket that is doing nothing. And got out.
The laughable thing is that, with Lyon out and Green unable to bowl with any consistency, they only have three frontline bowlers on a deck that offers so little. Grind them into the ground and then take them on when you are in front.
England have been really stupid here, Australia have just lost then spinner and have then gone to short pitched bowling, irrespective of Baz ball the obvious thing to do is duck, move out the way and tire out their bowlers with no spinner to bring on.
After Root’s dismissal I’ve given up watching. It’s amateur hour, men against boy’s. The Australians must be laughing at the naivety of this approach. There is a time and place for out an out aggression and we are giving wickets away rather the bowlers having to work hard for it.

Be positive but be smart and vary it up.
No ball wont help you now Joey boy.
England collapsing to short pitch bowling.
we have gifted 4 wickets to them. 2 more and in comes Broad
we can be aggressive and positive without being reckless. I don't think England will learn until the ashes are firmly in the Aussies hands
England when batting "Short pitched bowling? Let's take it on!!"
