Roy has turned down the opportunity to play in the final two ODIs against Ireland. He was in line to be the batting reserve for the WC squad but whether he will now rather depends on how England view his decision not to prove his fitness. Tom Kohler-Cadmore has been brought into the squad for the Ireland ODIs four years after he was charged with bringing the game into disrepute.

Probably the only meaningful thing of this Ireland series is to see who is the next batter in line . I would have taken Duckett instead of Willey - versatility in terms of batting anywhere in the top 5 and another left hander, should Stokes or Bairstow need a rest .

He's been getting ready for white ball cricket by hitting 68 from 31 balls today against Kent. EIGHT 6s in that innings...

K H Rahul has to be one of the worst keepers ever to play international cricket. The fact he is keeping for a cricketing nation the size of India makes that even more remarkable.

So far he's missed a run out by dropping the throw, had numerous instances when he hasn't taken the ball cleanly, he's then dropped the ball for a stumping that has hit his pads and bounced onto the stumps with Labuschagne out of his ground and has now missed a regimental stop standing back that has resulted in a run out.
Has there ever been a worse opening two overs than George Scrimshaw has just bowled? Went for 35 (including 6 no balls and a wide) and took a wicket with the last ball! Poor bloke looks utterly shellshocked!
Good to see Sam hain get a score on his debut. Difficult to see how he would fit in with our white ball side proper though. Not a big hitter - a possible back up for root at 3 if malan is moved to open perhaps as the “nerdler”
Had that first wicket been called a "no ball" I think that might have been the end of Scrimshaw's England career. He was visibly distressed waiting for the ball to be called as "good" and even the umpire had to give him a consoling pat on the back. The fact that Potts bowled Sterling with the very next ball will also have helped him. From 0-35 off 1.5 overs to 3-31 off the next 6.5 overs shows a real strength of character.
Both Lord's and The Oval have their ballots open for next year. Poor scheduling, to have 2 unattractive Test series - W Indies and Sri Lanka - in one summer.

I always enjoy a series against the Windies even when they are not as strong as us they always seem to have a couple of characters in their side and it's usually entertaining.

They're a shadow of who they were though. No money at home, and the lure of T20 leagues being so much more attractive to their best players.

Unless you have Day 4 tickets, in which case you won't be there at all!
