  • Whose out?
    khawaja!
  • Did Khawaja think "last ball" and momentarily switch off ??  I know the ball was spinning & moved off the pitch but it was a nothing shot where he had been defending 90% of the time.
  • That wicket took Australia from odds on to 3/1
  • Take Ali off. Bowl Root. Or Stokes.
    Told you.
  • Root, 10 overs for 15. He's been tidy, but that's still over passive batting.

A few more catchers near the wicket???

    2 edges. Get slips in
  • New ball due in 6.3 overs
  • Broad with a new ball shortly, going to be carnage
  • Ahhh rooty!! Shame it didn’t stick
  • Well, isn't cricket funny.

1st day they all trooped off in bright sunshine at 6.30pm losing 6 overs forever.

Today, there are still 38 overs to play when they come out after tea at 4.50. Given that teams generally only bowl around 13 overs per hour then that's just about 3 hours of play to be had.....and its mandatory that you bowl a minimum of 15 overs in the last hour. So, when does this last hour start, especially as I think play can only go onto 7.30pm.

Might not have mattered if Stokes hadnt declared at 6pm on a bright & sunny day with Joe Root smashing 6's everywhere.

What wouldn't he give for another 30 or 40 runs now.

Wouldn't Englnd have fewer overs to bowl though?

  • Aussies going for it now.

New ball due in a couple of overs. I'd bring on Broad & Anderson now.
  • Cummins is an incredibly jammy fucker

    Is this a technical term?
  • 2 drops by Root.

Hard chances but then Bairstow gets castigated for similar.

Going to be pivotal. Either the new ball will race to the boundaries quicker or there’ll be some wickets tumbling.

England were batting quickly on Day 1 though. We maybe could have declared yesterday

  • Stokes puts off taking the new ball for one more Root over and he gets Carey!

    Stokes you little magic man
  • Great catch Joe. We are clear favourites now.
  • What a catch, and what brilliance from Stokes to resist the instant new ball
  • Stokes lost the test on the first day with the brain dead declaration. Baz ball, my arse!!
    Bazball, whose arse?
  • Cummins, Lyon and Hazlewood have 54 runs to find…
  • 2 drops by Root.

Because Bairstow's chances were easier, and he's wearing gloves
  • No wayyyyyyy
  • 54 needed off 16 overs
  • Bazball that ya early declaration moaners
  • This has been a great spell by Root. Without him we would have been stuffed in this period of the match
