1st day they all trooped off in bright sunshine at 6.30pm losing 6 overs forever.
Today, there are still 38 overs to play when they come out after tea at 4.50. Given that teams generally only bowl around 13 overs per hour then that's just about 3 hours of play to be had.....and its mandatory that you bowl a minimum of 15 overs in the last hour. So, when does this last hour start, especially as I think play can only go onto 7.30pm.
Might not have mattered if Stokes hadnt declared at 6pm on a bright & sunny day with Joe Root smashing 6's everywhere.
What wouldn't he give for another 30 or 40 runs now.
Stokes lost the test on the first day with the brain dead declaration. Baz ball, my arse!!
The match isn't lost yet. However, an extra 30 or so runs lead would certainly put a bit more scoreboard/run rate pressure on the Aussies and might tempt a few more risky shots.
31 overs left to play. Might just get them in by 7.30pm.
Cricket must be the only game where the hours of play change. Friday play finished at 6.3PM for no reason apart from only 30 extra mins could be played. Why ? Its mud summer so no issues re light. Just because. But today play caries on until 7.30pm because we lost time to rain. But not because we lost time on Friday to slow over rate. England lost 6 overs just because. And then played in iffy light & rain on Sunday.
Stokes maybe an idiot declaring when he did but the "rules" have not been equal to both teams.

21 overs to the new ball, Australia will be virtually there before we get it.

One more wicket will lift the team and the crowd.
Keep the faith
Game on.

Really surprising it took so long to bring himself on as we could have done with him bowling before tea.
If Stokes can manage it, he maybe needs to bowl in T20 type short spells, rather than Test length spells.
