Is there anyone else on the county circuit that hasn't made an England squad yet to be keeping an eye on in terms of genuine pace bowlers? Or is it more a case of hoping for Mahmood,Stone,Archer etc to eventually get fit?

I'm not sure that there is with genuine pace. Sam Cook isn't quick but, given that one or two of our seamers are nearing the end of their career, he has to be close to making his debut. He's taken 242 FC wickets at 20.04 with an ER of 2.60

cook'll be our replacement for anderson i reckon. Agreed, his FC average + economy is too good to ignore.
I see Kevin Peterson was less than complimentary on England’s behaviour and performance yesterday. Does he have a point?
If England are trying to play to the type of person Stokes is, then is it like Charlton trying to play to a system where they don’t have the players to do so?

It's more, as Nasser said, the attitude like when they had the drizzle break - the Aussie batsmen were out before the England players had left their dressing rooms - and the lack of "let's get out and at 'em"
Like him or not, you don't average 60.05 in Test cricket from 174 innings without being one of the greats. That's his 32nd ton and his 12th against us, 8 of which have been scored in England.

Indeed, best batsman of this generation, annoyingly!!

The best average for decades. 6th best of all time

Yeah I think there's a debate to be had on whether he's better than Tendulkar, Lara, but he's definitely the best since them.
there's something to be said for the duncan fletcher mantra that if you want to be a pace bowler and succeed at test level, you need to be bowling close to 90mph.
