He does well when he has the tools. I could have got Wrexham out of the conference with a l1 squad. Slap bang average at best when working under less favourable conditions
which manager does work well without the tools and unfavourable conditions?

I thought he was unfairly sacked by Charlton and he was working with a terrible squad. Powell struggled with the same squad that season and it was only after a rebuild that things improved.
Parkinson is a decent lower league manager and one of the few managers we've got rid of who has gone on to succeed.
Should not have been given the job and was manager for the Northwich Victoria game.
The only reason he was given the job was the club couldn’t afford to sack him and pay off his contract. They sold Luke Varney to pay off Pardew.
He had a worse ppg record than Pardew that horrific Championship relegation season .
His persistence in picking Elliot when Randolph was a much better keeper was bizarre , luckily for us Elliot got injured when we were in danger of slipping out of the play offs, Randy came in and turned it around . Not being able to make full use of Jonjo Shelvey another weird one . Solid lower league manager and part of this the shittiest period in our footballing history .
Powell led us to 13th in L1 after he took over from Parkinson. He struggled with the crappy squad that we had as well. Needed a summer rebuild.
Some of the criticism of Parkinson seems a bit bizarre. We've had plenty of managers who are far worse with inferior CVs.
SCP walked in cold to that squad , Parky had been working with that squad for months (the one he managed to do a worse job than Pardew had ) .

Honestly I always say about the Elliot/Randolph situation. Elliot was so immobile and couldn’t kick and was making mistakes most games. Randolph still couldn’t get in. Then he got injured and they loaned in Ikeme instead of playing Randolph. Bizarre.
The beckford save by Randolph is one of the best I’ve seen live. Even over Kiely/Dugarry.

Parkinson probably shouldn't have been given the job in the first place off the back of his "caretaker spell"
Looking back on his first season in league 1, I think it's quite clear that it was a particularly difficult division with the likes of Leeds, Norwich, Southampton, Millwall all up there. Getting us promoted wasn't an easy task.
That second season he had us competitive again despite having a pretty poor squad. When he left I'm pretty sure we were sitting around 5th or 6th.
Powell came in and struggled with the same team but he was trying to get a better understanding of the squad that he had imo and who he could rely on for the next season. (worked out pretty well in the end)
Overall he did a reasonable job with us and has done much better elsewhere.
Certainly a league 1 / lower level championship manager now imo.
He was sacked in 4th place with a team that Powell took to 14th.
It was a weird sacking, Powell was then given a massive transfer window that meant he could buikd, early, one of the best squads we've ever had in L1 that had a few lower end players well over performing. Pritchard is a fine example.

From memory Parkinson lasted about two weeks after we were taken over by Slater and gang. They must have fancied Powell, it happens with takeovers.

While I wouldn't blame them for fancying the handsome charmer that is Chris Powell, they went for Eddie Howe first.

And if I recall correctly they interviewed a certain Andy Scott too.

Still can't figure how he struggled to get a tune out of Shelvey but has Elliot Lee playing like the white Pele we sung about!

How do you come to that conclusion?
