I've just cancelled my TV licence direct debit, though tbf they took the last one about a week ago and I'll barely be at home for the next few weeks anyway. But still, i hope many others take the same step againt the gutless corporation.
  • If it came to a choice between Lawd Sugah and Crispy Lineker for the BBC chop, I'd opt for both .. people watch MOTD for the football, not to worship at the feet of Mouthy Gaza .. as for The Apprentice ? .. the format looked tired and old hat 10  years ago

Some would say this is a great way to move forward the "deconstruction" of the BBC. You either hate it because it's "woke" or hate it because it's suspending and censoring righteous heroes of the people.

It's almost like someone senior in the BBC was pressing the self destruct button...

I am absolutely furious. Proof the BBC are completely under the Tories' thumb.

Strange as on 'Have I got news for you' and when ever Frankie Boyle opens his mouth they seem to bash the Tories; easy target as the cabinet are so right wing and they have a "let them eat cake" mentality.

I think Gary lineker was looking to leave as so many of his colleagues at the BBC have done in recent years: Andrew Marr, Emily Maitlis, Dan Walker etc.

Gary is trying to force a transfer despite the fact his legs have gone.

Does Aunty have balls or have they scored an own goal ?
  • One thing I've noticed on Twitter is that Sky are giving the Lineker story a lot of publicity, and are telling the story in a way that's very sympathetic to him. Now of course that could just be because most people feel sympathy for Lineker, even if they don't agree with what he originally said, and Sky may just be reflecting what their viewers think. But I wonder if someone at Sky has called him and said something along the lines of "ten percent extra salary and you can say what you like when you're off-air"?
  • Obvs Lineker’s all over the news but what’s Atts done?
  • I can’t see what is wrong with what he has tweeted. Is there something not quite right and good with his views? But then I’m not a Tory so I probably won’t understand an opposing view.

While I agree with the sentiment, I'm not sure speeding the dismantling the BBC by further cutting its funding will be the protest you might think. This hateful government would like nothing more than to see the BBC gone forever.

good points about the Festering Boyle and knackered out H I G N F Y leftie/anti Tory comments .. however as for the  interesting theory about Lineker looking to get the sack, career suicide by twatter as it were .. I can't see him forgoing his £1 Million plus licence payer funded wedge voluntarily .. he moonlights on BT Sport now and then, but he seems to be out of favour for the crisp adverts .. and who else will pay him what the beeb does, in fact anywhere near what the beeb does ? .. I can't see him as an in demand political pundit. so I reckon Crispy Gaz will have a choice, .. act as the beeb want him to or get the sack and/or move to another TV station for a very reduced pay packet ..
Lineker has other media and technological interests, perhaps he'll reinvent as England's answer to Elon Musk

  • Good on the team taking this stance in supporting Lineker

Match of the Day has had its day I think...

You can watch Premier League Highlights on YouTube about 6pm now anyway.
  • all these defections will save the beeb a fortune .. let's hope they'll spend the windfall on some quality programming

Said parrots only have 2 genders
I've heard about the gay parrot that likes a cock or too (cockatiel).

    Sorry it's an aural gag.
  • I won’t believe it until at least 2 other lifers have posted a link to the tweet.

And now you're gonna believe us, and now......

I hear rumours that David Attenborough made a documentary to go along with Wild Isles - they could spend the money on sticking that on BBC2 rather than just on iPlayer?

    I'll get my coat...
