I haven't seen any of today's signings play (well I have but was unaware). I've no idea how good/poor they will be (probably like everyone else). I'm disappointed that we didn't make better signings, but then again we were never going to be spending millions.
I'm disappointed that we hadn't recruited earlier, but it's undeniable that Sandgaard pissing around didn't help and it's not our fault that no one took Kirk & McGrandles is injured again.
We've been unlucky with injuries to Leaburn, Fraser & Camara.
I don't think anyone predicted us losing to Newport, Peterborough, Bristol R, Port Vale and Oxford, with Holden appearing to lose the plot, so I can't in all honestly totally hang that on the SMT.
All in all I'd rate the transfer window as 6.5/10 when i was hoping for an 8. Mind you last week it was looking like a 5/10.
Let's see what happens and if you're going to support the team tomorrow it would be great if we can get behind Pearce & the boys.
The only thing I think we're missing overall is one more wingback, but I think between Watson being able to play on both sides, Thomas being able to play left back and CBT being able to play as a (very attacking) left wing back, it's sufficiently covered until the inevitable injury list pile up.
Maybe if Kanu hadn't kicked on a bit like he has I'd be more concerned about the strikers, but he appears to be a viable fourth choice now.
We have the quantity many were clamouring for, the huge question now is if there is actually any quality in that lot.
Long season ahead I think, but let's hope there's some nice surprises at least
I know this makes me boring or whatever but I wish we could just sign players and announce them without the fucking banter bus getting fired up every time. Oh, we've signed a 22 year old reserve left back from Bradford, let's stick his face on that scene from Face/Off with the doves, everyone will love it. Why? I dunno, Burnley did it once and people seemed to click on that a lot. I find it uniquely, disproportionately annoying
I don't mind them.
The team running the account will be targeted on views, clicks, etc. and if these sort of announcements help then good luck to them. It's their job to grow the clubs presence on social media and stuff like this, even if a little bit cringe, will help.
Man that's sad. There's definitely a player in there. Maybe when fixtures and injuries pile up he'll get a look in, and he'll look better with Edun creating an overload alongside him.
I'm wondering if we were willing to let him go out on loan, and if so, how much of his wages we were asking the loaning team to pay.
Honestly I don’t understand how anyone can be disappointed with this window. We’ve definitely had much much worse.
We all knew that the new owners wasn’t going to splash the cash this window.
We’ve still got Dobbo, CBT, Leaburn
We finally brought in the extra striker we’ve been crying out for the past few windows (meaning we’ve got enough cover - May, Leaburn, Tedic, Kanu, Aneke)
our midfield when everyone is fit does actually look quite tasty.
we brought in two extra players to help cover defensive positions.
The manager signing is absolutely huge now, get it right and give the team time to gel, who knows what could happen.
Is that the worst transfer window ever? So many unknowns and inexperienced players? How will they all play in a toxic Valley with under 6k inside as we get tonked at home to Burton et al?
You are having a Giraffe. Worse than the arsehole Southall taking 80% of the fanbase for utter mugs. I was a proud bedwetter as I saw through that cunt as soon as he opened his mouth. And did Bowyer and Gallen go along with the charade ?
I have no idea if the lads signed in this window will be good or not but all 4 positions we needed today have been covered. RB, CB, midfield and another big central forward to compete with Leaburn for game time.
Well done Andy Scott for getting players in and getting a few out.
As long as Leaburn, Dobson and CBT are still here it's been a decent window despite the bar being very low after the last half a dozen windows.
The only thing I think we're missing overall is one more wingback, but I think between Watson being able to play on both sides, Thomas being able to play left back and CBT being able to play as a (very attacking) left wing back, it's sufficiently covered until the inevitable injury list pile up.

I admire your positivity but it all points to a mediocre season again. the only chance we have is if there is a Cullen, Bielik and rak sak in the lot we have signed. Time will tell
That HAS to be a wake up call to Kirk surely, in a professional sense?? I mean what do you do with that now if you're him? Keep going the way it has been and end up just sulking in the u23s for 6 months and just pick up your pay check? Or have a bit of professional pride, knuckle down in training and take the managerial change as a chance to try to force your way into his plans even if just to put yourself in the shop window for January?

According to the Irish Under 21 Manager Abankwah best position is RB/RWB.
We all knew that the new owners wasn’t going to splash the cash this window..
Did we? I didn’t Matt. I can’t get my head around why people would pay £10m for something with no physical assets, that will cost them an additional £5-10m a year to fund unless they were going to invest to try to improve to a higher league and increase income and the value of what they’ve bought at the earliest opportunity.
It just doesn’t make any logical sense to me. I don’t get it.
I think a lot of peoples annoyance is that throughout the summer we’ve been briefed indirectly that we’ve bid 500k for Nombe, enquired after JCH, suggestions we were interested in Collins at Bristol Rovers etc etc which is obviously all bullshit. It’s no wonder then that people are underwhelmed when we sign players on deadline day whom none of us have heard of.
I don’t know if these players will work out or not and only time will tell but, in my opinion, we haven’t enough about us for a top six finish but I really hope I’m wrong.

Yes, one more FB/WB is what I would have wanted as well. CBT and Campbell have both played as Wingbacks, but it's not ideal.
I also would have liked Deji and Kanu to get EFL loans. But given the injuries up front at the moment, I get why that wasn't possible with Kanu. I think you can send him to the National League for a couple of months during a slow fixture period and he'll get some good experience. With Deji, given he did well at Bromley I thought he'd be in line for a step up. But it may be the case that the right offer didn't come along, or that we wanted to keep hold of him for a bit to monitor his development, play him in cup games, and keep him as insurance if form in the backline doesn't improve. There are a lot of games between now and Jan 1, so he will get some chances I'm sure.
I think the loans for Mitchell and Henry to League Two could end up being really important to their development. Especially Mitchell going to a Garner side that will utilize his ability on the ball. For the first time in a while, I'm quite excited to track the progress of loanees in League Two, and excited for the players we might be getting back next year.
On paper: one FB short, moving Kirk and McGrandles on would have been preferable. But I think this is a solid squad. Getting this managerial appointment right is going to be massive because I think there is enough talent in this squad to be in and around the playoffs at the end of the year.

Ah yes I saw this yesterday and forgot to mention it here. I believe he's played in a back three for Udinese and at RB as well. So yes, should provide cover in both areas, and is apparently strong on the ball.
