Lloyd really is having the season of his career. A real leader at the back for us, and a threat in the opposition's box too. Long may this purple patch of his continue

It's crazy to think he was playing second fiddle to Michael Hector last season.
True enough but when he did play last season he certainly wasn't in the kind of form/mentality he is now. He wasn't terrible but he never looked like being one of the leagues best as he does now.

I'm not saying that to disparage him either, quite the opposite actually as for whatever reason he's gone up a level (maybe more than one) this season. But I for one have to admit I never thought he'd be THIS good... though I'm very glad I was wrong.
I completely agree. Last season he didn't look like a leader and seemed quite a passive defender. This season he attacks everything and physically dominates in almost every game. I can't think of any Charlton players that have made that kind of leap so late in their career. A genuine talismanic defender.

I think NJ must take a lot of credit for this. There were hints of him being a leader last season, but he was always playing second fiddle.

NJ showed he had confidence in him, by announcing to everybody that he was vice captain.

But, there again, NJ has improved us a lot by having leaders all through the team. At various times, besides Doc and Jones, Berry, Godden, and Coventry have all worn the armband, ensuring that whatever happens, there's always someone to get the message across...

I’ll be devastated if he doesn’t win player of the season. I voted for him but worry Coventry will get it due to some recency bias influenced voting.

Coventry MOM by a mile Mr Consistent and has hardly missed a game

Player of the Year by a country mile imo
Agreed and it beggars belief that anyone would think different.

I told him Good Friday he’s our player of the year and that he was brilliant that day and everyone else was shit (very harsh) he nervously laughed and I could read his mind as he thought ‘Cnut’ and I agree with him .

I may be misremembering, but wasn’t he also another signing out of the blue that didn’t seem particularly exciting?

It’s impressive how the likes of Jones, Small and Ramsay have gone from ‘uninspiring’ signings to fan favourites.

As for Jones, he looks like he’ll be ready for the Championship next year - I just hope it is with us.

I think it was more hardly anyone had even heard of him so presumed he was brought in as squad player. Only sign of possible excitement was he'd recently won player of the year at Cambridge.

Turns out that the scouts did indeed see more in Jones than SELR did.

As someone posted earlier, go back to page one, and Lloyd wasn’t highly rated by some fans, always thought he’d be great 😂 pah, right!

It's not overly fair to laugh at previous comments when If I recall when NJ came in he was massively out of form and confidence and making shockers every week. I remember that Blackpool game with Curtis in charge he was absolutely diabolical and may have got subbed at HT.

Obviously been excellent since he got his confidence sorted in the back end of last year but for balance he was poor before that. Mind you so was everybody under Appleton.

It looks like Jones could be out of the Wrexham game. He is on crutches.

If (and it’s a big if) he is on crutches then that would be him out for play offs too you’d imagine

Why on earth would you post that with no explanation

Shades of the snake 🐍 Taylor being spotted on crutches at Ebbsfleet on his return from Montserrat - though the poster then included photographic evidence.

    Like this and my reply.

He looked knackered after 60 minutes
He could hardly hobble on to the pitch after full time. He’s playing through pain barriers obviously as much as gaining fitness. A real warrior who will be crucial I think.

Excellent bit of business, securing our safety in league 1 for next season with a player who knows how to fight relegation and we can hopefully remain a mid table league 1 side for the third season on the spin.

    Innis replacement, check
Bang on the money here for last season tbf.

We'll just ignore how much he's improved this season and that he's now probably the best centre back in the league.

Agreed. BUT he did go down injured towards the end of the second half so not ruling it out completely.

Neither am and wouldnt usually take random rumours seriously but my nerves are shot, anxiety through the roof at this stage… posting that without explanation and then leaving everyone hanging should be a bannable offence if you ask me!

Think I’ve found the source of the crutches rumour. Good news is this account always tweets inaccurate rubbish just to get a rise out of people

The question is did they tweet it after reading it on here? Or the other way around?

Am shocked; FPL Pep Gold sounds such a credible account.
