Inevitably the interview and the motivations behind it are already being slagged off in certain quarters in the usual style, so I'm posting as a reminder the original intro article which explains that this was all CM's own initiative, The link to the main article is at the bottom of that one. When you get to it, you'll see the banner image is a mess, bear with us, I may need techie help with that.
I think the main benefit is an insight into how the structure will work (assuming he is still able to speak for all significant consortium members). There's more than will be possible to put into a club PR statement even if they wanted to. But there were interesting things he asked to keep off the record, and other things we had no time for, such as the future of the real estate. As you will see, he really wanted to talk about him at Sunderland which I managed to avoid until we got to the end of the designated running time, and Zoom terminated that abruptly
Looking forward to see what people make of it
Lenegan junior back on the scene then. No different to January then with the set up and just him and Methven that will be the UK people involved.
We will see the pair Horne and away a fair bit then and around the club as well during the week
All seems a bit lacklustre - dont ever recall seeing a takeover announced subject to 5 days of paperwork? Quite odd - wouldn't say it's a red flag but it does make me a bit uneasy
Think of a number (of days), any number. Double it, add 16, multiply by ten, divide it by four, take away the number you first thought of, multiply by seven. The result is a number, of days. A number of days is like ‘by the end of next week’, or ‘near the start of the first week after Pentecost’. This year’s little black dress is vagueness and obfuscation peppered with a trickle of distain.
I love shit like this. With all the technology we have now, what could possibly take 6 days to ‘file’. Unless we’ve got my doctors receptionist on the case.
Unless this a whoosh- ‘filing’ is the term used by Law firms for submitting online registration forms / updating companies house etc.
it will be completely with the Lawyers and out of the hands of takeover group, they are relying on the Lawyers do it, but for the Lawyers it is not a priority and they will have multiple clients to attend to, all banging down their door.
The 5-6 days is the full submission / processing / completion of registration time. Once the documents are ‘filed’ (registered) only then is the transaction complete formally and the takeover complete!
Presumably we have to get to the end of the 5 or 6 days for the new overlords to have free reign in signing players...or does anyone think different?
If its been approved by the EFL then my understanding is that the new gang are free to pay what they want. Of course until it is finally "official" they may not want to....

I regularly speak to a well-known ex-Lifer who is nowadays closely involved with the club, (some will guess who, but let's respect his unwillingness to be all over social) and he reckons that Lenagan Snr. will also be involved and The Lenagans will have the 3rd biggest share after Friedman and Brener. But I haven't been able to independently verify that, as the journos say.
It seems correct that CM and SL are the only UK based people involved, however he indicates in the update that Gavin Carter will join "the CAFC Board"; that seems to be a move to modify what CM says originally, that he will be the main link between the consortium and Rodwell and CAFC management. That's something to closely watch, I think.

Good work.
When he started saying 'You know' a lot I straight away thought of Matt Southall. When he mentioned he'd managed to get a little know Charlton fan on board, I straight away thought of Lee Amis. We can only hope beyond hope that Friedman and Brener don't turn out to be a Tahnoon Nimer!
Camara and May suggest some green shoots with the new owners, and that’s all we’ve got to go on so far. I would expect a lot of questions once we have transparency around who the investors are, the structure and management board etc.
As Airman has mentioned a few times, an easy wrong to right is a competent senior management team, so fingers crossed this is a quick, easy win and the benefits will reverberate throughout the club, as much as on the non playing side as the playing side.
then it’s over to the level of investment that Holden is given to do the job. We must remember that we were well short last season, and the season before that. That can absolutely be addressed in one window as we saw from Powell in 11/12 and to a lesser extent with Bowyer in 18/19 when his signings were such that we could afford a few passengers.
Short term success will go a long way to helping build a bit of momentum and mean that hopefully me and others who have been very negative about all things CAFC (to the point that I was going to games last season and had zero reaction when we scored), can get excited again. I truly want to, but it’s been a hard slog since 2014, bar Bowyer’s promotion and Championship season.
I genuinely believed better things were around the corner with TS, which is why when I think long term, I still have some concerns (what if we don’t get promoted this season or next, the ground, the willingness of these investors to stick around), but these will be discussion topics for another day.
@PragueAddick thanks very much for posting the interview - obviously have to take what CM says with a pinch of salt but it is interesting to read his approach to things set out.
One immediate thought is that the passage around the investors reasons for getting involved - not looking for a return / flip - doesn't make any sense to me. Why bother paying as much as they have for a club with no assets if the play isn't to flip it?
It's amazing how some people on here respond! Crying out for a statement...the club makes one confirming it's a done deal and they are still not happy. There must be dozens of legal documents to change - banks, H&S, insurance, legal, contracts, suppliers, who knows what...that will need amending/transferring. Potentially HR changes, systems, security...new roles/transfers maybe new appointments. Then they can give more detail - having been through a few mergers and acquistions they take some time for the dust to settle.

Thanks Prague - interesting.
I guess my more emotional reaction is one of mild disappointment although I'm not sure what else I was expecting. Maybe it's because a lot of this has leaked already and I was hoping for something extra. Maybe I was hoping for a clearer statement of ambitious intent but, again, that is probably an unrealistic expectation. The rest of this transfer window and the next will tell us more.
My head has some concerns:
- I'm worried that there will be no one Head of Charlton - we'll have Rodwell, Scott and Warwick all having seemingly equal status but potentially different visions, missions, objectives - whatever you want to call it - with great potential for core disagreements - who pulls the whole thing together? CM paints a picture of himself as some sort of Walsingham type character whispering in the investor's ears which, again, has the potential for major disruption going forward
- Would like to know a LOT more about Global Football Partners Ltd. Is this just a CAFC vehicle or does it have a wider remit and where does CAFC fit into it?
- CM himself says that GB & JF's investments are relatively small beer for them so that would make it very easy for these individuals to walk away yet I guess we are hugely/solely reliant on them to fund short/medium term losses.
So, my jury is still out, partly driven by our painful experiences in recent years. I'm not in the Airman camp of saying it will fail but I would want to understand a lot more before I adorn my bedroom with Gabriel Brener/Josh Friedman duvets and pillows.

"And those choices need to be choices, which are smart choices, but also choices that run with the tide of the culture of that club"
I see. So now we know some of the things we knew before that we didn't know.

It's all done & dusted. Just need the right papers being filed in the correct filing cabinets.
EFL happy for us to spend, spend, spend.....
We can all relate to that.
