Thank you, Henry. We are fortunate to have someone like you from that era still alive and active to testify.Henry Irving said:
Worst in living memory yes, worst in our history, no as we finished 2nd bottom of Division 3 South in 1926.ElfsborgAddick said:

I think they are at a small profit with the club now in The Championship. I know they are reaching out to certain people.0

I seriously doubt they bought that dream tbhAthletico Charlton said:If our owners were sold a dream of Championship by next season and an ability to cut losses to £2M once there, will they hang around if we are relegated having seen the cut of losses was nonsense and being back in L1 so behind schedule in that outcome.... rhetorical really as only they know the answer.0 -
You’ve not seen anything to suggest the owners are still committed?Henry Irving said:
They have said that we are ahead of schedule ie we got promoted earlier than planned.Athletico Charlton said:If our owners were sold a dream of Championship by next season and an ability to cut losses to £2M once there, will they hang around if we are relegated having seen the cut of losses was nonsense and being back in L1 so behind schedule in that outcome.... rhetorical really as only they know the answer.
So that could mean they were'nt expecting to fund Championship losses this season but I've not seen or heard anything (not that I would) to suggest they are still committed.0 -

How can you cut loses to two million pounds a season, when the average loss in the Championship is fifteen million pounds a season.Athletico Charlton said:If our owners were sold a dream of Championship by next season and an ability to cut losses to £2M once there, will they hang around if we are relegated having seen the cut of losses was nonsense and being back in L1 so behind schedule in that outcome.... rhetorical really as only they know the answer.1 -
By not investing much in the squad, trimming back office staff and increasing ticket prices…😉☹️msomerton said:

Well the steps may have been tried but losses may not be quite as anticipated.Still every penny counts.0 -
Saw something on the other site saying one of the owners had pulled the plug on their investment. Pretty sure there was a similar rumour last year which was nothing in the end.Has anyone heard something about this?2

People are putting 2+2 together and getting 5 because they're seeking some investment and we haven't paid a fee yet. I suspect the wages we are paying Clarke, Dykes and Chambers would easily counter the idea any of the owners have withdrawn fundingAberystwythAddick said:Saw something on the other site saying one of the owners had pulled the plug on their investment. It's come from a couple of people thinking that no money has been spent in this window so the American's have pulled the plug, there is absolutely no evidence for it, and just seems to a few peoples fever dream7

There wasn’t much that could have been cut, but it would have been easy to massively overstate the potential for commercial growth, given how badly the business side had been run for a decade and the lack of local knowledge in the structure.valleynick66 said:

I suspect we will see this lesson learned the hard way, if it isn’t being already, possibly with price increases that lead to falling revenue if we stay up.3 -
Expect there is a bit of a loan fee for Chambers and Clarke too. Champ loans generally arent free.fenaddick said:

Further price rises would be suicidal id think.1

Would that be the same site that said Cal McNair was putting in £20m?AberystwythAddick said:Saw something on the other site saying one of the owners had pulled the plug on their investment. I agree, although the price structure is still flawed as a legacy of Ben Kensell’s interference. There are far too many price points, for a start. Look at those ridiculous “gold” and “silver” price grids in the toilets. That alone should tell you the structure is ridiculously complicated.valleynick66 said:Further price rises would be suicidal id think.2 -

ST's will be an even harder sell at L1 level if we do go down, and they will probably be at the same post-early bird discount general sale price they were after our promotion last year. Nearly £500 quid for a non-family area middle of the road price season ticket.Airman Brown said:

10% of Wrexham has just been sold to atletico Madrid's American VC owners for £48m....
Interesting to have as a benchmark1 -
I'm still waiting for the 20 million war chest to materialise ...AberystwythAddick said:Saw something on the other site saying one of the owners had pulled the plug on their investment. Probably helps that they’re in the playoff places.MarcusH26 said:10% of Wrexham has just been sold to atletico Madrid's American VC owners for £48m....

Utterly insane. Got to be some serious fall out from all of this at some point. £480M valuation on essentially, a non league club in stature.MarcusH26 said:10% of Wrexham has just been sold to atletico Madrid's American VC owners for £48m....

It's an absolutely bonkers valuation. Most of the recent Prem club TOs have changed hands for less.Athletico Charlton said:

This feels like it's all going to go horribly horribly wrong at some stage.2 -
No TV series runs forever. When that goes, the global merch sales will drop, the matchday revenue will still be low. And sponsorship revenue in reality is a drop in the ocean in terms of club valuation etc. Whilst clear of the commercial revenue we will deliver, my business' software breaks down Wrexham's current portfolio (presumably if they stay in the champ, or even go up, these will increase but an average Champ front of shirt will still be no more than £7-800k).

Never mind Wrexham, you could probably buy most of North Wales for half a billion quid!0
