Some CL members think there's a magic wand and you sack everyone and we all live happily ever after: Terrible choice of Michael Appleton which was clear to see as soon as he didn't have Chuks or Leaburn to come on as subs.

Andy Scott stays until the end of season because with 18 games to go how can any one come into his job while we try to stay up. He got us into this mess with his appointment of MA. It would take too long for the new Technical director to understand the chains of command !

We need a manager/head coach who is prepared to work with the players morning and afternoon to get them to play as a team and have partnerships all over the field.
FFS pick a shape to suit the players we have at the moment. If that is 4-4-2 then play that. They have to stop making basic mistakes at the back. Defenders have to work together when playing offsides.
Charlton Athletic are imploding and a terrible fate awaits( A Derby with Bromley ?)in league 2 if we can't get organised on the pitch with everyone knowing their job.

May be now we have finally put to bed that god awful Appleton meme that people have been sticking up every 6 months for the last 15 years.
I blame you lot for his appointment in the first place, someone in the SMT obviously thought he was a fans favourite,.

The most uninspiring choice of manager since the last one 5 or 6 months ago.

Clearly lost the players. Feel sorry for Alperton. I imagine coach rather than manager is what he excels at. "Out on the grass" is where he should be and not in management. Perhaps we could consider this in the next appt. I don't really see Bowyer, Jackson, Adkins, Alperton et al as being solid managers. Adkins aside, all needed a Curbishley as a DoF (adkins needed a lobotomy with his blairite nonsense) none were really men with a longterm vision or at least didn't strike me as such. They were either too petulant and childish (Bowysr) or nice (Jacko, Alperton, Holden)

Let's get in an absolute rough house with a pair of old time "b******s" (warnock?!) and a strategy to get this club back up to where it belongs and deserves to be...

    ...12th in League 1!!

So the board is woke (from one of your previous rants) and now there’s mention of “Blairite nonsense”.

Are you able to comment on football without making an utterly irrelevant political point?

    Jackson - Cheap option
    Garner - Cheap option
    Holden - Cheap option
    Appleton - Cheap option

Buy cheap, buy twice is a good saying for a reason.
GET SOMEONE WITH A GOOD TRACK RECORD
We've just said goodbye to someone with more wins than defeats in  his career over multiple seasons, but with only one promotion to his name and he wasn't up to the task.

MA wasn't s success here and many didn't think he would be, but his L1 track record wasn't so bad it should have ruled him out as a candidate imo. Not the best one, but then he wasn't the first choice was he?

They’ve recognised recruitment needs to be a lot better and that includes paying decent fees. Gives me some hope they’ll be willing to spend more on getting the right manager rather than another Appleton, Slade or Adkins. Not that I’m confident they’ll make the right choice though.

He had to go. Think it was on the cards after the ear cupping he would not recover.

As much as it had to be done it has been quite horrible to watch the fans turn so quickly and him struggling to deal with it. It must be a lonlely place.

Don't think any of us is surprised or shocked by this
Let's hope we have learned by this & stop going for the cheap option as it has shown it doesn't work & cost more money in the long run
Just need someone in place temporarily for now to get to the end of the season as there is enough in this team to keep us up
Then we need someone in who has real pedigree & give them enough money to rebuild the team as that's what is needed
As if we don't we will find ourselves in the same position over & over on this manager merry-go-round
Good on those who turned up last night just a shame there was so little of us mind you the football is absolutely terrible so i can understand why
Gutted for all of us having paid good money being sold the same old story & I am absolutely sick of it & unless the club show real intent that's me done as I not going to be taken for a cun# anymore

He had to go, it was clear a few games ago! However now he's gone we need to move on, rapidly!
We need a man manager, who is a good coach that instlls pride in the shirt and, more importantly, themselves. We do have the players to get us to safety, but we need a manager who has been there and done it at this or Championship level. So for me it's between Jones, Duff, or even Warnock. If it's either of the first 2 I'd ask AC to oversee as an experienced 'old head'. As for Scott he has to get this right or he should also fall on his sword/sacked.
Next few days are crucial in the future of our once great club....the clock is ticking!

The recruitment was bad in the summer which is why we have once again wasted a season not being serious promotion candidates.

Appleton is the reason we are on the brink of being in a relegation scrap though, any decent manager with this squad would have organised them enough to snatch a handful of more points over the last couple of months to maintain our boring mid table placing.

Finally.. makes more embarrassing they allowed him to take this game.. Monday’s press conference was all smoke and mirrors I think.. he was going whatever the result was!
You should know. What do your chums say ?
As I said, it’s all bit confusing and a mess.. got told that Wednesday he will go whatever the result.. wasn’t expecting it straight after the game
Take it you will have asked why he got given the game?
  • Glad he has now been sacked, but should have gone after the Burton game, at least give someone a free hit for last night`s game, with Exeter and Reading winning last night, we are being dragged into a relegation battle, that is the reality, we have some tough games coming up, Blackpool and Bolton away, Derby and Portsmouth at home, with Reading away, and Lincoln at home in between.

Mental night, never seen a team clearly turn on the manager before even going down the tunnel before, never thought I’d celebrate a sacking in the oak either.
What happened exactly at the end?
A number of the senior pros including dobbo just stood in the D chatting.
They weren’t rushing down the tunnel, so something was obviously up
The only explanation is they knew what was coming, so did Appleton, so begs the question why was he even in charge for the game?
He was clearly told he had to win it to keep his job and that is why we were still trying to win it after the sending off.
How does that explain all the other last minute goals we have conceded under that half wit.

    Good riddance

I will happily start going to games again IF they appoint a decent manager.

I know a lot of fans are in the same boat.

Yeah not for me. By all accounts a great guy from speaking to Brighton fans but managerially his time has gone.

How on earth was he given that game in charge, shows a weak SMT.
