  • He also said, “Keep working hard” and “100%”
  • It's a shame he can't play more minutes but I am just happy to see him play however much he can.

I still think it’s so strange that we have had this fairly high profile player in our squad for what - four years - who is consistently injured and nobody really knows what the cause(s) of these recurrent injuries are. I’ve heard tons of different theories (“he has too much muscle”…”it’s psychological”…) but it’s all speculation and not truth. It’s such a shame because if it wasn’t for these damn injuries he would have had a wonderful career.

So tomorrow will be the 6th game unavailable since his last 20 min cameo

Anyone know what’s wrong with him this time?

I feel like we'll never really know what happened with Chuks until he retires and tells his story

Amazing really that Jones always speaks like he is a pivotal part of this side.
His mammoth long injury record suggests that should never have been the case.
Lose another game. Oh, we're missing Chuks by the way they'll say.
    Ridiculous situation.

I thought someone said last week that he could have been available for the Southend game so unless he's had another setback , i presume he's very close to a return but with Chuks you never know.

Didn't Jones say it was his groin?

Makes a change from his hamstrings!

Preview of tomorrow’s game on the OS isn’t giving anything away about any of our injuries. Not even the including the area of injury in brackets as they’ve done recently.

    TEAM NEWS

In Thursday's press conference, Nathan Jones explained that Kayne Ramsay, Tennai Watson, Lloyd Jones, Dan Potts, Chuks Aneke, Daniel Kanu and Tyreece Campbell remain sidelined through injury.

It's a relief his contract finishes this summer, I'm sure that will free up a big wage for someone who can feature a lot more.

Think it was more that he had been pivotal to our strong start to the season, which he had been

Agreed, really feel for him as it is not his fault but every season we get a long injury list and he is always on it.  Bringing in someone more reliable just makes sense.

Yep. I wasn't sure whether we should offer him another year just for him to come off the bench and affect games but it's obvious he has a body made of Twiglets and it's time to say goodbye. It's happened way too often. I can't see who would want him though.

7 players out injured and makes a joke of fans saying we had too big a squad. As day becomes night we get injuries similar to Arsenal, Newcastle etc.

The only time I would blame the medical staff was when Slade took over and he said injured players still on contract were allowed to disappear for the summer break without their problem being resolved.

That wouldn't be the case now and our medical team are on a par with the best.

Unless he can play 30+ games this season, I suspect he will either have to take a massive pay cut to continue his career or he will retire. I think the latter is probably most likely

As I associate Twiglets with Christmas maybe that’s when he will return from injury. 😉😀

  • I think Chuks could find a very low contract with appearance money. I doubt he’ll be overly keen to knock it on the head if at all possible. Such a shame for him.

Is that really worth the hassle of going through all the injuries again? Much easier to stick it out when you’re getting probably £6k a week for it.

Think he's at a point where it's about whether he enjoys being a footballer or not. He's very into property development judging by his Instagram so I think he'll be ok moneywise. He's probably earned more than lots of our squad will ever earn too

There was a podcast linked in here that he was on, came across as someone very switched on and sensible with his money. I think he will earn more money in retirement than he will from his next contract

I’m sure he loves the game and if he had faith in himself staying fit he’d take a lower wage and carry on playing. But how much can he really be enjoying it if every year is setback after setback and the reward is only 25minutes a week anyway

Think there's a lot to be said for the enjoyment of the dressing room too. Realistically though, he'll have to move and probably drop to L2 which I just can't see him wanting to do. Unless he can go Jan until the end of the season missing one or two games he won't get a contract here.

He'll probably get RSI typing the introduction to his memoir

Of course I’ve no idea but I’d imagine that he’d still very much miss the dressing room banter and the life of a pro footballer despite his injury history. Once it’s gone it’s gone and im guessing he’d be keen to hang on as long as possible.

Keep up - haven't you seen the discussion on the Kayne Ramsay thread. You're not allowed to ask what's wrong with anyone or how long they are going to be out for as its a gross invasion of their privacy. Apparently.

I can imagine Chuks moving on to a coaching role soon. Watching him in the pre season stuff we put out and his encouragement and support of the younger players like Kanu and TC, I reckon he'll be a very good person to have around youngsters trying to make it in the game.
  • Sick of people feeling sorry for Chuks. Yes he maybe can't help some of it, but these 3.5 years of his salary on the books has killed us.

Roll on July when we can fuck him off.
