His injury record really isn't that bad. And he scores a goal every 18 minutes he's on the pitch.

    Apparently.

Ramsay, Jones and Campbell are big misses at the moment. I wonder if the Club sent a video of the ‘tackle’ on Campbell to the relevant authorities to show them that this sort of thing needs to be outlawed. If he hadn’t been booked for the challenge he may have got a restropective sending off but unfortunately he did so no further punishment can go his way which is wrong in my opinion. Surely such a poor decision should be overturned and a red handed out instead, or an even longer suspension.

There once was a player called Chuks
Who has cost Charlton mega bucks
    He plays now and then
    Due to another injury...agin 🤦‍♂️
Will we ever see him play.....with any luck!

So tomorrow will be the 6th game unavailable since his last 20 min cameo

Anyone know what’s wrong with him this time?
It's a relief his contract finishes this summer, I'm sure that will free up a big wage for someone who can feature a lot more.
Unless we announce that we have managed to get him to sign an extension 😂
  • Really, makes a difference when he comes on and if he is prepared to take a play as you play contract would love to keep him

Probably the most laughable post I've ever seen

Shame he only plays 18 minutes a season

Yep. I wasn't sure whether we should offer him another year just for him to come off the bench and affect games but it's obvious he has a body made of Twiglets and it's time to say goodbye. It's happened way too often. I can't see who would want him though.
Unless he can play 30+ games this season, I suspect he will either have to take a massive pay cut to continue his career or he will retire. I think the latter is probably most likely
Retire take up coaching and focus on his property portfolio
  • It's gutting for Chuks yet again this season. Past seasons, he's become injured again when a manager has played him too much thinking he can start or play 60 minutes. It feels this season, we've been smart and careful with his playing time, yet he's still ended up with an injury bad enough to miss multiple games in a row.

Sick of people feeling sorry for Chuks. Yes he maybe can't help some of it, but these 3.5 years of his salary on the books has killed us.

Roll on July when we can fuck him off.
    Charming .

It’s beyond ridiculous and a shame because he is an exciting player but wouldn’t renew his contract
  • Knowing our luck he'll leave in the summer and then make 45 appearances for his new club next season.

People moaning about how his salary on the books is killing us is crazy. Yes it effects our wage budget when coming to sign new players. But what most people really don't understand that the club will not really be paying much of his wages once he is out for more than a couple of weeks just like your employer. The insurance company will be paying him a fraction of his wage instead. So whilst as annoying his injury records has been for us, he really is an outstanding player to have when available. And that will win us more points throughout the rest of the season.

He can only win us points by playing and scoring goals.
He spends so little time on the pitch nowadays that his contribution is minimal.
Far better to let him go in the summer when his contract expires and replace him with someone who can actually play most games.

Not disregarding the fact we need someone who can play the games but when the salary talk and negativity towards him like he's ruining the club, I think that's where my point is to try and say it's stupid.

    Yes I agree.
To say he's ruining the club is wrong.
But 6k per week which he's apparently earning would be much better spent on someone else.

But as mentioned the club are not spending 6k per week when he is injured. This is covered by the insurance and the club will pay more of a minimal wage if anything. There was a Ben Foster podcast where he broke down what actually happens when a player is out long term injured and it's honestly interesting for many to listen and understand. I'll try and find it.

It looks to me like he has been playing within himself not to get injured… could be under instruction though.

Seems to have lost a yard of pace and missed some chances he would have scored previously.

    Shame.

Gosh I wonder what the premiums would be like after 3 years for covering Chuks - insurance companies ain't charities after all - honestly i'd be surprised if there was an insurance that would even touch him by now? It'd be like owning an old Ferrari that breaks down 4 times a year and constantly needs spare parts.

The insurance rep leaving Sparrows Lane

  • The club will find a solution to the should he go  or should he stay next  summer.
Release him then resign him again for a 6 figure fee  the following January.
    Sounds familiar.

    Nail on the head

i love chucks and the way he would absolutely bully and terrify defenders. Derby away last year springs to mind. Another example is last year at home against Blackpool

i have used the word would rather than can because performances like derby away and blackpool at home are now the exception and not the norm.

Due to lack of chucks availability, we have experimented with wickham and hylton. Time to move away from over the hill type target men and invest the £6k in a younger and available alternative.

im not sure what hyltons coaching role is but hopefully there is room for chucks to teach leaburn, gas and mbick how to bully defenders. Chucks should also be used to bully our defenders in training and toughen them up so that we stop conceding soft and simple goals.

if chucks can’t play, use him on the training pitch to improve others.

At most clubs yep but with our recent track record maybe getting a couple of hours out of Chucks per season will be the better spend !!

Are you seriously saying we have an insurance policy that pays a part of Chuk's wages when he is injured? And then that we don't pick up the rest of his salary?

I'd be amazed if we even have an insurance policy covering Chuks. Given his injury record, the premiums would be astronomic.

And given the contract he has, good luck in saying we aren't going to pay you the rest of your salary now!

I love how long he's been here and people still can't spell his name correctly! 🥲

Its because we see his name on the team line up so infrequently it doesn't stick.
