I suppose the elephant in the room is what happens for him when the season is over. Out of contract and I can’t seriously imagine a queue of clubs looking at him given his injury record. Having said that he still offers quite a lot in league one when you can get him on the pitch. I wonder if we’ll be looking to offer him something should we still find ourselves in league one next season which is probably still favourite. Reduced wages with appearance bonuses or something could surely be worked out ? If by chance he finds a better offer then good luck to him. I doubt he’ll find a club like ours that’s willing to accept his contributions for what they are.3

Looked like he was struggling a bit with something at the end of the game. Hopefully it’s nothing but with Chuks you always fear the worst when he’s limping slightly1

Doesn't seem to even look fresh when he comes off the bench but he still makes an impact and that's the kind of impact that could make all the difference in a big game, like when Williams came off the bench against Sunderland. Different type of impact of course.
I actually wonder if Aneke trains anymore given he only comes off the bench now and doesn't even look fresh when he does.1 -

He used to be a cheat code off the bench at L1 level, who could win aerials, dribble and hold off defenders with ease but now he’s very much just a big standard battering ram who gives away too many fouls and looks bereft in front of goal. Still like him though and would be such a nice moment if he could make a big contribution for us in the play offs to get us promotion1

Chucks at end of season should be looking to go into coaching. He potentially has a lot to offer if can prove a good teacher.6

I liked what Godden said in his interview after the game. He said that he knows when Chuks comes on he becomes the one who gambles rather than the other way round and that's got to be difficult for defences to deal with. Having Godden be the one who goes up for the headers and needing to worry about TC getting wide and finding space is one thing but then suddenly having Godden running in behind with his sense of timing is a really different proposition for an opposition team. I remember when we signed Chuks that Bowyer kept insisting in interviews that he was more of a 10 than a striker and I think we're seeing that original version of Chuks more now that he can't run so much. It's good that Jones has figured that out as expecting Chuks to come on, bulldoze defenders and score is a thing of the past but he's always been clever and creative. He's currently our joint top assister level with Berry despite playing nearly 2000 minutes fewer than him. Late game creative Chuks is a bit like Yann; he'll win that difficult lumped ball up field but then he can do something with it as well. Using him like that with a poacher running off him is a great option we've got for our last few games20

I spotted this also. Looked as if he'd pulled his groin. Chuks Aneke doesn't need to play National League and earn a grand a week plus goal bonuses. Plus National League top teams need players who can play 90+ minutes not cameos of 35 minutes max.
He is a property investor and has earned an estimated 400k per annum over just the last 3 seasons from his football contract. it would have been higher when we were in the Championship.
Not having Leaburn and Kanu available to come on off the bench is impacting CAFC as I would be amazed if Chuks is fit over the next 5 matches or even 6.
Credit to Chuks for winning the header for the Sniffer dog's great run and finish but it's becoming rarer and the days of Aneka scoring a goal every 95 minutes of him being on the field seems a distant memory now.0 -

Surely this isn’t a serious consideration. I love Chuks but if we use some of our finite resources on giving him another contract it would be a dreadful mistake. Possibly but he wouldn't have all the medical facilities available to him at CAFC unless he employs his own physio. Only 31 is Chuks (why do some still call him Chucks 🤔) so may want to just play for the adrenaline rush ?
Bradley Pritchard is still playing at 39 and was crunching into tackles for Phoenix Sport last weekend at a low level.1 -

Regardless of his limitations, he still makes things happen. Maybe not to the extent he did he’s had some big contributions in recent games and I reckon one more big goal is coming at some point.
Doubt we’ll renew his contract but, with Leaburn injured, it’s key that he is fit for the remainder of the season and the playoffs. If we need a goal with 15 minutes left at Wembley I don’t want to look at the bench a see Mbick and Ahadme as our only options to switch things up in attack.8 -

When Chuks is injured he doesn’t play on usually, I think it was probably just a bit of stiffness/soreness. He hobbles at the best of times anyway2
