Good luck Chuks. Frustrating as it’s been sometimes that he’s not always been available when we’ve needed him, he always contributed when was fit and was exciting to watch.
Chuks has something that you can't teach, and that is aura. He commands attention on the pitch, through respect from teammates, fear from opponents or reverence from supporters, you always felt his presence (for some defenders they probably still felt it days later) cue the Kenneth Williams memes!
He dealt with a lot of mental and physical setbacks and challenges in his time with us, but ultimately I'll look upon his time here as a successful one. The way our young players look to him for guidance and mentorship cannot go unnoticed, and I firmly believe whatever he chooses to do next, he'll be incredibly successful in
Glad it ended for him in the way it did... On the Wembley pitch as part of the winning team
Shame he wasn't able to get his goal in the run in, or at Wembley, but definitely have good memories of Aneke when he did manage to get himself on the pitch - I almost hope that this was a bit of a mutual decision and we'll see him retire as a result.
Not because I don't think it is the right decision but because I loved watching him play and bully opponents. He really had the game to go all the way but his body just didn't allow it.
He can still be an outstanding finisher for a league one club and I wouldn't mind betting that JJ will take him for Wimbledon to help him see out some games for them next year.
Goodnight sweet prince. It's the right choice to let him go but it doesn't mean I'm not sad. Over the past 6 years of almost unmitigated misery he was consistently one of the bright spots in any game where he featured. He could turn a dire game with a moment of class and I never blamed him for his lack of availability. Thanks for everything Chuks and for allowing me to always believe that things could get better at our lowest points if we could just get him on the pitch, whether that was true or not. I hope he now has a great life not having to worry about getting hurt every time he does his job. Chuks 4 life
One of my favourite players of recent years, the return spell has not worked out but great that it ended on a promotion. Covid was a shit time but watching Chuks on Charlton TV made it a little better, he was unplayable that season
Oh, it’s like amicably breaking up a serious relationship. You’ve been together for a while despite having a short break up but in the end the relationship just isn’t working any more, you know deep down it’s the right thing to do and it can’t last forever.
Now is a good time to say goodbye, but you’ll miss [Chuks]/[insert name of partner] loads and there will always be fond memories.
Glad his final moments in red were helping us achieve promotion. He will always be remembered fondly here, and of course will always be welcome back, unlike a lot of the rubbish we have had over the years.
Unplayable on his day, but those days are long gone.
An absolute favourite of mine, even when he was not quite up to it, and you could see the pace of the game slowly slipping away from him (even in cameos).
Whenever he was on the pitch he could ALWAYS make something happen. There was always hope with him on the pitch, you felt, and that feeling of hope - similar to that joyous anticipation at 2.59pm on a Saturday, for me - is a big big part of what I love football for.
Thanks Chuks. Go well in whatever you choose to do next bigman.
An unplayable nightmare for defenders when at his best. So much finese for an absolute unit. Such a shame the injuries have blighted his time with us but he's still my favourite player of recent years. Good luck Chuks in whatever you do next.
Right decision sadly. Would have loved a dream ending of a goal at Wembley, but we still got a cameo which helped us over the line.
Will be looking out to see where he ends up next. He’s done a scouting course, so I don’t think his time in football will be over if he doesn’t get a playing contract somewhere.
Good luck to him, as said always offered something off the bench, even if he wasn’t quite the same threat this season as he has been.

I've often watched his routine when coming on as a substitute, rather than than 22 players on the pitch! That says something about his character and aura.
He got us out of some tight spots when we were crap. There were spells when we couldn’t score unless he was on the pitch. I think he genuinely saved us from L2. I’m glad he wasn’t completely injury free otherwise he would’ve played most of his career in the top half of the Championship and not with us. I will miss him!
