    An “Indian Summer” is generally regarded as a warmer than average dry spell after the first frost.

    New Eltham doesn't have a measuring station but we didn't get a single drop after that massive thunderstorm in the first week of April all the way through until the 2nd week of August. Watching on the online radar every time there was a shower it passed a few miles to the south of us. Aware the official data isn't measured in that way but the Met Office talk about this effect in their explanations around location.

    I put up a new 630 liter water but system 2 days after that storm in April! it proceeded to be pointless from then on. Some might even blame me for the drought by means of a Jinx!

    In the west country and the weather is fantastic. Shorts and T shirt... Not a cloud in the sky at 08.30. Lovely.

    It's also worth noting that the radar works at a level somewhat above the ground.  When very dry conditions exist close to the ground the radar may show a heavy shower passing over you but the rain doesn't reach the ground as happened with these showers over Devon and Cornwall in August.

    Some people are assuming that some people are getting muddled up  when they aren't.. Their just discussing today's weather.

    New Eltham didnt get a single drop of rain in the 1st 2 weeks of June.
    Must of been the only place round here then.
    There was more rain in the 1st 2 weeks of June than of March, April and May put together.
