Just doing his job to be honest. Tye club saw it for what it was and got £700,000 and kept the last three letters of lee's first nameoohaahmortimer said:Yep a bit dour and lack of personality but a god for us , tainted slightly by his snide low ball bid for Robert Lee cos he knew we needed dough to get back to The Valley6 -

A few weeks too late. Strange appointment to start with in fairness but their style of football is bland under him and I've been waiting for this to get announcedclive said:Lennie back in charge at Hartlepool.

He did a terrific job as Charlton manager, but I always felt he talked the club down a bit too much but I think that is his character. It doesn't take away from his achievements.2

It was a 1-1 draw with Sheff Wed, wasn't it?Valiantphil said:

Lennie was caretaker at Plymouth in 1978, almost 50 years ago. Can anyone in the top five divisions beat that?1

Beat Everton 3-2 as I recall, Melrose hat trick maybe.DaveMehmet said:

Everton was our first "home" win I think, first away win ultimately did Man Utd a bit of a favour0

It was 1-1 against Weds - Rob Lee scored
its etched on my memory because my wife chose that day ( our first game back in the first division after 28 years ) as our wedding day …..4 -

Okay. Season started much later back then (again, as I recall), so to rephrase my original point.DaveMehmet said:

I feel like it made sense at the time. Sarll's first season at Woking was pretty incredible and they finished 4th in the NL despite being Woking. He had a total collapse the next season but a lot of that was down to some pretty rancid recruitment and they ended up finishing 17th despite getting rid of him in November. His style is fairly miserable but he's capable of putting some decent strings of results together with the right players. Hard to get that at NL level thoughSwisdom said:

Largely impressive at Woking but it went to shit fairly quickly when he was found out I think.Garrymanilow said:

Since coming in to Hartlepool there has been hardly any communication with the scouts and so we are just looking at opposition as opposed to targeting anyone specific. There were no instructions really in terms of the recruitment. Not necessarily just down to the manager but from what I've heard from the fans and some of the staff there the football was dire. For a club who should be one of the bigger teams in the division they are in a shocking state at the moment with an owner desperate to get out0 -

i suggested him last season when he wasn’t playing but they did nothing. Maybe they kept him on file - who knows.
hes not had much chance to impress yet but hopefully will get more minutes under a new, smarter, manager3 -
