Stokes has said that he is fully fit but has to be sensible in coming back to bowl and that playing on a used wicket, it will mean that Leach, Bashir and even Root will play more of a part than in the First Test. That suggests that he won't be coming on first change and will fill in, as and when he feels that he needs to do so.
Carse was the enforcer in the last match. Who will take the new ball with Potts, Carse or Stokes?
See above re me thinking that it won't be Stokes following his comments. First innings I would think it will be Potts and Carse but in the second probably Potts and one of the spinners.

When you say used wicket, what do you mean? It’s a different wicket to the 1st Test isn’t it?

Thanks, when I was watching mid 1st Test, the commentator said the 2nd Test would be played on the adjacent wicket.
I watched a fair bit of the last 2 days on the slowest fast forward, so obvs miss out on the commentary.
I think they initially were going to use an adjacent wicket. The thinking behind using the same wicket is that having just had five days play on it , it will break up and offer the bowling more .

I guess with Pakistan naming 4 spinners and the same pitch being used, they're expecting the spinners to bowl more anyway.
Test number 2 coming up on the same wicket as the first and now reports that demonstrations against the imprisonment of Imran Khan could see the 3rd test in Rawalpindi moved back to Multan.
If that ended up on the same wicket it would be a cracker !

Awful for any tourists though, if they end up having to rebook their accommodation for the 3rd Test, and face being stuck in the same place for 3 weeks.
Pakistan's women's team haven't fared much better in the T20 WC. They won just the one game and chasing 111 for victory against NZ were, at one point, 28-5 but recovered to 52 without losing a wicket but then ended up 56 all out.
Should England beat the West Indies tomorrow then they will face NZ in the semis with the other contest to get to the final being between Australia and South Africa.
Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat. As expected, Potts and Carse have opened the bowling and their only current friend is low bounce when the ball hits when of those cracks, with little or no evidence of any movement. The spinners will be on sooner rather than later.
Stokes gives Leach a "funky" field with, in addition to a slip and short leg, no less than two players close on the drive. So Leach decides to offer Saim a full toss on leg stump for four.
Much better line from Bashir to the left handed Saim from Bashir than he bowled to the right handers in the First Test, beating him with his final ball of his opening maiden over
And Leach bowls Abdullah that pitches on middle and takes off, no more than a foot high in bounce. This Test won't be a 5 day one judging by the first half an hour or so.
Stokes has an even more attacking field for the two left handers with Leach bowling - slip, leg slip, short leg plus two fielding on the leg side on the drive.
Leach now has two slips, a short leg and two men on the drive. There will come a point when the Pakistan bats will have to take the game to England because, at the moment, they are allowing the spinners to bowl to them with an ultra attacking field. Can't see England being 22-2 off 11 overs. Far more likely to be 80-5!
