Who will be the new Charlton coach? - p103. Nathan Jones confirmed

Fair to say a number of players seem to have either improved under Jones (remember the thread if anyone had improved under Appleton?) or at least seem to have gotten back to where they were.
Also fair to say some of our January window signings are now starting to show why they were signed as well.
A good manager gets the best out of his players, lets hope Jones can keep doing so.5 -
Appleton should be struck off.

I’d just caution that thing initially appeared to improve under Adkins, Jackson, Holden, and Appleton but the players always eventually reverted to type. I understand why you might it’s different this time, it does feel like it could be, but I think we’re a ways off where we can say Jones has built something sustainable.6
-
I think the difference this time is we have a ‘proper’ manager.Just look what he has done with Anderson. He is happy to rotate players depending on the needs for the game.I have always felt that this squad has underperformed -Derby manager said they were beaten by a very good team. That looks crazy to Derby fans losing to a team that not won for 3 mths but this is the NJ affect and long may it last.COYR7

I'm hoping it goes much further of course but safety first and next season is an issue for the future.1 -

The last few results have been brilliant, but this squad still needs fairly major surgery to be a contender for promotion.2

Keep climbing the table, don’t get too high with highs or too low with the lows, to quote Curbs. NJ has already said that the squad is too big and it will be scaled back and should get the changes it needs with him having a major say rather than Scott ploughing his own furrow.4

I thought Karoy Anderson was no where near first team ready a month ago and in the last month he has been outstanding.
The more this month has gone on, I am more convinced that the player recruitment (Whilst not being perfect) hasn't been the issue. It has been hiring that fraud of a manager who was.
I am pleased it has taken this long in some ways for the first win to come under Jones as it has proved his point that it required the players to really buy in and believe. I really hope this is the start of a far more positive period supporting Charlton.2 -

Nathan Jones TO DO LIST:
1. Keep us in League One this season.
2. Establish a clear style of play that is a) successful and b) good to watch.
3. Get the defence and defensive midfielders working together cohesively.
4. Get more creativity in the attacking third.
5. Ensure that the gaps and imbalances in the squad are addressed in the summer.
6. Get Dobbo to sign a new contract.
7. Build a team that will at least get into the League One play offs next season.
More to do on (4) although clever tactics combined with Daniel Kanu's contribution and the return of Chuks has helped to overcome the absence of a creative, attacking midfielder.0 - Sponsored links:

Which is what we needed.6 -
At Luton Jones built a reputation and the players would run through brick walls for him and at the level they were playing at that worked. From what I've read, at Southampton the players were sceptical over Jones’ training sessions, with too much focus on one-v-one situations in games as opposed to the broader tactical structure. There quickly became a feeling that his methods did not translate well in the higher leagues but I suspect that those who are internationals are less inclined to "buy into" different ideas from someone who is seen as never having played or coached at the highest level - as opposed to the group that we have right now that are either predominantly young or are tying to prove that they are good enough to play at not just this level but at a higher one too.
On the one hand Jones knows the Club and on the other he's already worn the T-shirt of success at League 1 level. I'm sure that he will turn things around and that given the right ammunition we will be pushing for promotion next season. Hopefully he will have learnt from the mistakes that he may have made at Southampton and Stoke which will allow us to knock on the door of the PL.
That's the theory anyway and all for the future. His focus right now has to be to get us away from the relegation zone. And turning around a side that was bereft of confidence to take five points off the best three teams in the division, with two of those matches away and in a matter of a few weeks, is a superb start.16 -

However good or bad NJ is he seems to be very confident, positive and determined. What a contrast to our previous 'manager'.
Has to be an uplift for players.

It is said that Jones does not have enough Premier League experience, so we will have to help him get some with us 🤗👍1

It will be interesting to see NJ,s approach to the next 4 games. With the latter 3 all below us. Will he continue the same high intensity approach. Will he view the opposition and move and change players. My pots half full 12 points in the bag....1

It really helps being able to rotate the midfield, so we don't have the same players doing Saturday Tuesday if they're looking a bit tired. It's only Kanu and Small who look unreplaceable at the moment.1 -
He’s proving to be everything we thought he would.
Feels so positive that he and we build back our reputations.
I think we probably want the Cardiff manager to stay in post for as long as possible, as you’d think if that vacancy came up and Jones is doing well with us, he’d be a real contender and would probably fancy it.4 - Sponsored links:

I just really want to know what these "certain things" are that he keeps mentioning in his interviews1

Cardiff aren't a bigger club that us anyway. Obviously more successful than us at the moment, but in recent years they look stuck in Championship mediocrity, more likely to go down than go up.

Being a Charlton fan I can't help worry that Saturday's game might be after the lord mayor's show, but I am confident Jones will be all over that like a rash - I wouldn't want to be the one to let him down!!6
-
Think he’ll ring the changes again.0

Wouldn't be surprised to see Dobson left out again. 2 games left before the 10 yellow card ban finishes.1
