If we're as terrible as everyone seems to think then surely Cardiff won't want him anyway
Have you seen how bad Cardiff are?
Sure, but you don't then replace the manager with a L1 manager whose team play horrible football and will be midtable by the time the clocks go back just because he's from there, that would be crazy
Sorry, should've been clearer I was just making a joke!

All seems a very OTT reaction to what was an originally innocuous comment.

Not sure why, but fans seem to jump all over others comments in recent years.
Not sure about that. Wales Online (🤷🏻‍♂️) has Jones as favourite for the Cardiff job. That’s quite a talking point surely ?

It is, I meant the rapid evolution from someone opining that if things turn sour they won’t be surprised if NJ is gone by Christmas to five pages of people discussing Charlton fans losing their heads and wanting him gone.

Rumours of Luke Berry and Allan Campbell looking at flats in the Cardiff bay area.
After Saturday's performance, obviously warden controlled retirement flats.

@LoOkOuT ‘s response nailed it for me.

If things go sour, things will go sour. Good insight there, that does nothing but introduce that angle into the conversation.

Then when you get pulled up on having introduced that angle to the conversation, you can play the “that’s not what I said” card knowing full well that post is the only reason it’s being discussed in the first place.

Maybe / probably it wasn’t malicious but it is a common internet trolling tactic……
  • once again Chinese whispers are in full overdrive …. There no way Jones will leave a safe job like Charlton where he has full control to go to a risky job at Cardiff that he could be out of a job in 6 months time … he just started out on a 4 year project that he wants to be part of ..
Yeah, I remember you telling us endlessly that Alfie May wasn't going as well.
Bad news if you think this, as your success rate is about 10%, which is quite poor with a 50% chance.
He wasn’t that’s why he moved in with his brother .. but things changed very quickly

I always thought he had moved in with his dad Brian and mum Theresa.  Didn’t realise he moved in with his brother James.

I hope they say goodbye to the neighbours before leaving.
  • I think the real frustration is that, if Miles were to come back in a week or two, we could be very close to being a very decent side.
Prior to Saturday, the defence was sorted.
A fit Miles could transform the attack, so the area that really needs addressing is the midfield, which looks completely sterile and has done so in every game this season.
Everyone seems to be able to see it, except Jones it would seem, both in the type of players he's recruited, and in now believing that the problem instead lies with the Centre Half not playing the ball on the ground enough.

Stepping back and looking at the big picture, we have built a great base on which to build, but if we are to really kick on, Jones needs to address the midfield problems quickly, and not mess with the one area that he's already got sorted.

We don’t need a new manager, new owners or new ground - we need a new fan base
Yeah, you can go for a start.

I am very disappointed with your comments Callum, I used to have a lot of time for you and we have in the past had a bit of banter about your obsession with stats but labeling me as a troll is way off the mark.

I am 67 years old, do not have any social media accounts and only know what trolling is via reading it on this site.

I am a realist and post what I feel, I have been supporting Charlton for 56 years, most of which have been season ticket seasons. Before Roland took over I was spending £10k a season on 4 x season tickets and hospitality at every home game as well as match sponsorship.

I have served my time and earned the right to post whatever ever I feel without snide remarks accusing me of “trolling” and “playing a card”

If you want me to bounce around like the Duracell bunny, wearing rose tinted glasses, predicting we will win every week and that Ahadme will come good, forget it.

I stand by what I said and would not be surprised if NJ is gone by Christmas however I never said I hope he is or that I want him gone.

As AFKA said it’s a huge over reaction to a personal view that I have written on a discussion forum. And the fact the follow up from posters such as yourself was to label me and shut me down says a great deal about the direction this site is going in.

Callum has not mentioned you, unless I'm much mistaken.

I’ll say this, if he leaves for Cardiff, after selling Alfie May so he could implement the Jones style into this team………..

There are not words in the dictionary to describe how angry I would be

    Hope he stays

Sorry if it came off a little bit strong @eaststandmike I just believe you’re so far wide of the mark in your prediction - to say you’ll be surprised if NJ is still here at Christmas is quite stunning to me.

Having doubts about the style of play is fine and I’m not trying to shut anyone down.

I totally respect your wisdom and length of support and didn’t mean to directly accuse you of trolling - I just wanted to draw the parallel between what was posted and that.
  • Ridiculous. We are 4th in the league and despite Saturday a lot more positive than for many years.

Positive ?  Maybe defensively but attacking wise we are poor. We manage about half a dozen shots every game & lucky if 1 or 2 are on target. Only scored more than 1 goal once so far this season.

Once the clocks go back we'll be lucky to be top 10.
Let’s see. I think that’s a strange assumption to make.
I still remember the 6 points adrift after Bolton, Portsmouth and derby comment

These markets are so temperamental that just means people are betting on him, I would think if he'd been approached Cawley might have reported it

Yeah I think these markets much like with our previous managerial searches are so small you could move someone into favourite with a small bet.

Would still expect Tan to appoint the Icelandic manager he's got at Kortrijk in Belgium.

Why … Charlton don’t need to say anything until an approach is made and Jones won’t say anything because why should he he employed by Charlton … Cardiff want the manager from their sister club he fav according to Cardiff fans
