The board don’t all agree on Jones, so maybe not as close as some think

    Hmmm. Interesting....

I just find it shambolic to use your proxies on message boards, to undermine a possible new coaches standing

At least we have already rehearsed booing a manager onto the pitch

Jesus wept, I think we'll actually go down if Johnson gets appointed... He's just been sacked by Fleetwood

In what realm is that good enough for us

Guess it will be poetic if he takes over here, he's been sacked twice already this season by Hibs in August, and then Fleetwood in December - We're looking for our third Manager of the season, he's looking for his third club
  • Farmer Giles?
  • In my mind from a purely statistical view, even though it does not tell the whole picture, I don’t think we should be looking at managers who have a career win/loss ration under 40%.

Lee Johnson has a 50% win ratio with Sunderland at this level...

RE What about spying with Batty your best pass rusher or 2 LBs on
  • He's 33/1?

Relax, they aren't going to appoint a manager who just got sacked by a side at rock bottom. They are chancers, but even that would be a stretch too far for these.

No not Lee Johnson, slagged the club and us off after we turned Sunderland over 0-1 at SOL.
Agree with @Valley11 if Johnson appointed, I AM FINISHED!!!!!

If Scott's decisions are no longer being sanctioned without scrutiny, he can't be surprised but must feel undermined
You're making an assumption that his decisions on managerial appointments haven't always been with scrutiny.

First team men's manager is a key role, possibly THE key role on the football side (Sorry Karen) so I would expect the rest of the UK directors to have an interest and sign off on who is chosen.

Whether that has changed or whether the US money men are now having an input we don't know.

After two failures Scott and the rest of the UK directors will most likely be under more scrutiny from the money men than before.

Or it could just be that Scott wants Jones and the others are saying "let's speak to Lee Johnson first and then we can decide".

Personally, I think in a well functioning leadership team it is should be good to discuss big decisions and get consensus.

Not that I'm sure we have a well functioning leadership team.

PS Putting Lee Johnson's name in the hat was just a joke....or was it?
Not a chance with Lee Johnson..
I'd go back and check with your source if I was you
    No need to

When you say 'board' what individuals are you referring to ? (I realise you may not be intending to be literal with that label).

I find the description on the various announcements less than claer as to who our board comprises.

It could be a combination of all/any of the below (I think):

    Managing Director: James Rodwell (Chairman)

    Group Finance Director: Ed Warrick

    Technical Director: Andy Scott

Non-Executive Director: Paul Elliott CBE MBE

    Non-Executive Director: Gavin Carter

    Sporting Director Simon Lenagan

Steve Sutherland (as member of SMT)

    PLUS the 'co-owners':

    Co-Owners:

    Gabriel Brener and family

    Joshua Friedman and family

    Warren Rosenfeld and family

    ACA Football Partners

    Munir Javeri

    Charlie Methven

    Marc Boyan

Since when has Lenegan been sporting director.. must missed that one being announced..

As long as he’s appointed that’s fine. There’s plenty of quality to work with in that squad to implement his style and get us to mid table. Then the summer to shape who he wants for a push at promotion.

If he knows who he wants then I’m sure they’ll have already tested the waters with the respective clubs.
Could it be that they are over budget players and that’s the issue?

I’ve been out since Appleton was appointed. The way things stand, only Jones or Duff or Warnock are going to get me back through the door

Probably simply that all recent appointments, or most of them, have been terrible and so odds on that the next will be as well.

So not directly employed by Charlton, he is part of GFP.

I would say it is a split on the U.K. board over Jones.

I struggle to think of managers I dislike more than Lee Johnson, plus I think that would condemn us to league 2
If we throw a few more into the hat like Joey Barton, Iain Dowie, Alan Pardew etc then when we appoint Nathan Jones everyone will be mightily relieved and fully behind Jonesy.

Update - Pol Pot now bookies favourite.

He’s the GFP sporting director, someone found it in writing and Scott can be seen telling Coventry as much in his behind the scenes signing video
