Terrell Thomas linked to Notts County and Michael Hector linked to Port Vale. Says a lot about our often starting CBs last season that they may both be dropping down a level
Happens every single time, an average player gets hugely overrated by some on here, when they eventually leave, they either move downwards or sideways.
Thomas deserves to be at Notts County, big club in league 2 and they'll be looking up rather than down. Probably about his level right now or mid table league 1.
It was obvious after about a month Hector wasn't at a top league 1 level anymore so it's fitting he's had to drop a league. I suspect he will look very good down there, or he will struggle with the physicality/struggle to find motivation. One of two ways imo.
what’s going on with Rotherham? All frees and lots of them. Have they got financial problems ? What are the quality of their frees like?
They let quite a few people go at the end of the summer (only Barnsley and Wigan lost more appearances in their squad at the end of the season than them). So they have quite a few gaps to fill. They have also sold their keeper from last season, and Evans generally signs quite a lot of players.
JCH is one of the better strikers at this level and fits the way Evans likes to play so should get goals for them. Rafferty made 39 appearances for Portsmouth, and Raggett 26 last season. Rafferty is decent, Raggett isn't particularly mobile but is physical, which again suits Evans style.
McWilliams was pretty good (36 Apps, 2 Goals) in an over achieving Northampton side last season. While Joe Powell (44 Apps, 5 Goals) was one of Burton's best players last season. Those 2 in midfield could be a good pairing.
Reece James has been promoted from League One 3 times in his career and was good for Wednesday when they got promoted, but injured for much of last season, and has had quite a few injuries in his career. He's only managed to play 30+ league games in a season once, and he's 30 years old. Can play left back or in Midfield.
Liam Kelly is another one who has struggled with injuries, was with Coventry all the way from League Two up the divisions. Defensive midfielder, if he can stay fit Rotherham's central midfield should be decent.
All in all most are very Evans type signings, solid, hard working, physical. Defensively I'd expect them to be solid and JCH should score. They probably need 1 or 2 more attacking players though, their top scorer last season managed just 6 goals.

Free = bigger wages. The quality of those players is pretty high. I'm guessing the fact they didn't spend too heavily when in the championship means they have a decent budget this year
That'll hurt Peterborough, as I imagine they wont get any form of compensation
A player I would have loved us to have got. Losing him, Mason Clarke, JCH and likely Edwards will hurt Peterborough. The fact most of that cash will need to repay debt also won't give them spending power. I think they may struggle for top 6 this season.

I wonder if any Hannover 96 fans have been on the Peterborough Life website, explaining the tax situation in Germany, and the attractions of German football!
Their squad is nearly all German, so a slightly surprising target.
Harrison Biggins has signed for Shrewsbury on a free from Doncaster.
Meanwhile Marko Marosi is leaving them, rumours are he's heading to Rotherham.
Marosi has been virtually ever present for Shrewsbury for 3 season, a level of consistency at the back we can only dream about with our ridiculous churn in keepers.

Will never forget his greatest contribution at the Valley though... Bloody saved us he did

A free transfer invariably costs money in a signing on fee. I imagine the vast majority of transfers outside of the Premier League are free transfers/loans.

Bloody impressive if they're able to keep hold of him for a third season, but lets see if that is genuinely the case come September.

Would have really like to have been in the running for him.
They are the 12th team to sign a player, so half the league now has at least 1 new signing.
