Where we rank in terms of league appearances departing from those sides that have announced and will be in League One next season. Also in terms of goals, and what percentage of goals those players scored.
Really good indication of what clubs will need during the summer.
Cambridge for example, losing over half of their goals scored this season, when already struggled and just survived shows they've got a real job on to stay up next season. Done it once with Knibbs and Smith leaving last summer, they will find it tough doing it again.
Said this when Jones took over, there is not a chance he took the job without an absolute guarantee of a very very decent budget. His stock was way too high to join a relegation threatened league one team.

As long as he doesn't present a shopping list and then the SMT tell him that there's been a teeny tiny mistake and the ACTUAL budget is tuppence and a bootlace, whoops, sorry Nathan but don't worry our friend Andy has been hard at work finding some nice cheap alternatives for you.

Although Cambridge managed to survive with Bonne upfront scoring 1 goal (against us, naturally) in 16, so if they get any sort of half decent striker then that would be an improvement for a start.

Believe me, Nathan Jones is driving this recruitment process this summer. Scott is there to lend a hand, provide an opinion, and use any contacts he may have for targets of Jones, but he won’t be leading the recruitment.
Sticking to my guns (without any kind of ITK info just pure guesswork) that Harry Cornick will be a Charlton player. I have a sneaking suspicion we will have that and Luke Berry confirmed and with scarfy by the end of May

I'm very glad to hear it. Goodness knows we can't afford to get it wrong again.
Spoke to some Wrexham fans in a pub recently and they were both absolutely convinced Alfie was joining in the summer!!
I suppose that, after two successive promotions and a turnover of £20 million last season (double ours), you can’t blame Wrexham supporters for thinking big.
The BBC also reported this week that “Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney say their long-term ambition is to increase the club’s stadium capacity to as much as 55,000”, so that “the whole town could come to the game”. Given that the entire population of the town is only around 45,000 and the County Borough 135,000, that seems rather optimistic.
I can’t see Alfie May leaving over the summer. If he did, we’d have been shorn of our 3 best players last season, following the sale of CBT in January and Dobbo’s imminent departure to Hungary.

I'd forgotten Ahadme was at Ipswich now (don't think he's played for them yet). The way Ipswich have stockpiled lower-league talent and succeeded in the Championship is very impressive. If they go up (and probably even if they don't), I expect a fair few of their players will be available in the summer either on loan or for fees. GA and El Mouzini are two intriguing ones. Obviously our record of sining Ipswich players is cursed. But as with any gambler, I have to believe that this time is our time!

I have a couple of American friends and they are getting bored with the Wrexham story already. When the Disney money runs out, how will they finance this. Rob Mcneverlearnthisname has £40m in the bank. I’m guessing he will pay for the scoreboard!

The rest of the documentary fans aren’t. They will secure funding from some very rich people without a problem at all.

Then when things get really expensive like increasing capacity and fans start moaning, they’ll return to reality. They’re not going to get a billionaire to suddenly turn them into a team that gets 30k through the turnstiles every week. They should ride the wave and enjoy it while it lasts.

That longwijk looked pretty good as did their other centre back.
Longwijk started 9 games for Wycombe and still managed as many clean sheets as we did in 46 games.
Longwijk impressed me too. Played a fair few games on loan at Plymouth last season. Seems he's out of contract at Wolves if wiki is to be believed.
Was on loan at Grasshopppers earlier in the season, but injury cut that short. I imagine Wycombe loaned him in January, aware that it would take him several weeks to get back to fitness, as he's probably too good for this level.
Agreed on Lonwijk - he looked good last weekend.
Worth remembering though that he wasn’t an automatic choice for a promotion side in Plymouth last season.
Compared to a bloke we’ve already seen in Charlton colours:

Lonwijk turns 22 in October, so a great age. Has a year left on his contract so Wolves may look to cash in as he won’t be in their first team.
Exactly the type of player we should be looking at and for Jones to make into what he wants. Tall, strong, good experience, won promotion already, ticks a lot of boxes.
He may have started only 28, but they picked up 59 points from those, conceding 32 and keeping 9 clean sheets. Not bad for a 20 year old at the time.

I have absolutely no doubt that NJ would shout that from the rooftops.

Oh sure, I agree that Jones would make it very clear and it would be an incredibly stupid and counterproductive thing to do. Which having been burned by this club before still doesn't reassure me quite as much as it should.

Fair point but I think that scenario playing out would literally finish the club.
I think you're probably right and I'm probably being overly cynical. In Jones we trust for now at least - the released players list seems to show good signs so hopefully there are equally good signs when players start to come in.

Tad dramatic
Well perhaps but yet another proven to be lying ownership and more on the pitch failure would see the crowds plummet. I don’t think some people realise the thickness of the ice we’ve been skating on. We’re losing unsustainable amounts of money every season and have no collateral that gives substance to the club. Sooner or later a club of Charltons stature is going to go pop. I’d suggest that unless we really are now at the beginning of an upward curve, that CAFC are well placed to be a club that ultimately fails.
