What's the Charlton Ladies LWB like?
I realise that she will have to wear Black shorts, but that's not an an issue because we have a great record in the Black kit so far.

gutted for Josh, he seems a top lad too. my recollection was that the injury seemed quite innocuoua at thr time too
I can’t recall how it initially happened. But I do recall that after a fair bit of treatment it was decided to keep him on, but he looked like he was struggling. Then he crossed the field to take a long throw and as he took it, collapsed.

There are therefore questions about the decision-making that kept him on after the initial injury. Of course, such things happen. It is said that often in those situations the medic staff have to reply on what the player tells them. But now he becomes the second key player after Godden to have a setback in rehab.

Will Abbott left the building earlier, and suddenly. It may be unfair to connect these things. But last season we did not have this shit, even though we were playing with the high intensity NJ demands. Fitness wise we seemed to finish the campaign stronger than most other clubs.
It was against Blackburn, if I recall 2 players jumping for the ball and their player got in a tangle with Edwards.  It didn't look good and I remember thinking it should have been a card.  Think it was one of their Japanese players who looked a handful before their manager inexplicably hauled him off

Jodie Hutton is the women's team's best player and top scorer. As much as she'd probably be an improvement on what we have the women's team are unbeaten in a year and top of the league so no sense in the men's team ruining that for us too

Please welcome our new, diminutive wing back onto the pitch, number 12 John Hutton!

Kevin Costner's getting on a bit to play in the Championship.

At this point I'm willing to accept him if he's left footed.

We weren't playing in an intense league with higher physical challenges. I'm a bit bored with the Will Abbot was some savant who could fix injuries with just a look, Josh was injured last season as well, and the misdiagnosis of Gooden is never in the negative column
Plus Lloyd missed 13 games (according to transfermarkt) and we've since discovered that Godden was playing whilst injured for the run in. I think last season it just wasn't as noticeable because the covering players didn't leave us as exposed.
As was Lloyd, didn't he say he was playing with some kind of leg injury?
He confirmed after we won promotion he had been playing with a fracture in his leg for some time.

Sure, this league is more physically demanding. A good job then that we had several years in the 3rd tier as a benchmark against which to evaluate last season.

If you are suggesting that the misdiagnosis of Godden’s injury was on Abbott, that is plausible but highly debatable. I understood (from here/social) that an external surgeon was involved, and (from one source) possible legal action may result.

A couple of weeks back Kieran Maguire revealed that a typical League One budget for medical expenses (NOT the salaries of the club’s staff) is around £400k p.a. He further explained that there are individual surgeons get a reputation re certain injuries (Dr.Knee, Dr. Ankle) and that some players develop a bond with a surgeon and insist they are used when they move clubs and get injured.

Whether any of that relates to Josh, we cannot even speculate based on current info. We only know he has had a “setback”.My main gripe in his case is that it was a mistake to keep him on when he got injured.

The real concern is not providing sufficient cover that allows main players to rest / recover from injury. Particularly with players with an injury record.

Championship is a demanding league & needs properly resourced team with back up in key positions.

That's a real body blow to our season. Poor guy. We now need another LWB/Left sided defender in addition to Chambers.

Hopefully the "back on preseason" quote quashes the "we'll never see him play again" bollocks at least.

Big body blow to Josh, would have been interesting to see if he’d of been considered for the World Cup if he’d continued his form for the whole of this season.

Should the worst happen and we fail to stay up, he might have played his last game for Charlton. I bloody hope not.

I don't think many clubs would be queuing up to sign someone who'd just spent practically all season injured.

Until the official announcement I wondered if JE had suffered a further injury or some unrelated mishap during the rehab, anything's possible.
    Today's communiqué suggests otherwise.
From memory it looked an awful challenge and we were surprised it passed largely unremarked by players or officials.
In the moment the physio & manager can only rely on what the player tells them.
Full of adrenalin, optimism and probably anger at the opponent it shouldn't be surprising if they sometimes kid themselves they're not crocked.
Ankles are highly complicated areas with many moving parts, ligaments, cartilage, bones all under full bodyweight strains at ever changing angles.  No two recoveries from significant injury will be the same.
He and Bell may have been encouraged back quickly or to have non-invasive therapies because of the absence of adequate substitutes - fixed transfer windows bring these considerations and risk taking.
We now have a round peg to fit into that round hole and JE will be back.
Today ain't as good as we might have hoped but it's better than Tuesday.
More good news, we'll be wearing red at the toolbox.

Well I think we are staying up, if that’s what you mean? Plenty of people don’t but I’m not one of them.

I can’t see Edwards playing League One football again.

He has played 7 championship games. He wont be getting signed by anyone over the summer if we go down.

:D We've just signed a full back who hasn't played a competitive game since last March.

We will see (hopefully we won’t). Reckon there’d be at least a few interested clubs.
