Yes should be one of the other 7 at home:seth plum said:Presumably we wouldn’t draw Cambridge.
(i) The eight winners and eight runners up of the north and south group stages qualify for the round of 32. All other Clubs are eliminated from the Competition.
(ii) The round of 32 pairings are determined by means of a draw whereby the winner of a group will be drawn at home and will play a runner up of a group from the same region (but not from the same group).

So home to one of Orient, Northampton, Swindon or Reading if I've understood that correctly.
Could this trophy ever be more exciting?8 -
The draw will take place live on Sky Sports News at approximately 6.10pm GMT in the lead-up to Sky Sports’ coverage of the Sky Bet Championship match between Plymouth Argyle and Watford.

I know people take the piss out of this competition - but if we got to Wembley we'd all be going and it would be a decent little earner for the club.
The prize money is better than the Carabao Cup and, lets be honest, we are one of the biggest clubs in the tournament so certainly have a realistic chance of winning it.
I've enjoyed it so far and hope we can go far11 -
A bit odd that Villa U21s are in the Northern half, when Burton are in the Southern section. I guess it was about equalising the U21 teams.0

Not many will travel outside of London for it thoughSwisdom said:I know people take the piss out of this competition - but if we got to Wembley we'd all be going and it would be a decent little earner for the club.

My understanding is that the group winners play at home v a runner up.Swisdom said:JustFloydRoad said:

I went to the Bromley home game and have seen similar games in previous years.I know people take the piss out of this competition - but if we got to Wembley we'd all be going and it would be a decent little earner for the club.

It's £10 and I enjoyed the games even if the most recent one was a bit dull. You get to see some younger players too.
I'll be there at Wembley but I'd still much rather we were in a higher division so didn't have to take part.4 -
So, at the end of the day 3 out of the 4 teams that we play in the knockout stage are in our division and who we play twice a year anyway.
This competition doesn't get any better does it, no matter who sponsors it or what small rule changes are made.

When we first played in it. It was a League One and Two teams (only added the Under 21s which is degrading for teams like us).golfaddick said:So, at the end of the day 3 out of the 4 teams that we play in the knockout stage are in our division and who we play twice a year anyway.

My idea: get the Championship teams (instead of the under 21s) in this Cup (making a proper EFL cup) and convert the League cup into a Premier League Cup (with the final played overseas).6 -
Sign of a shite season when you hear fans say 'At least we have the Bristol Street Motors cup'. To be fair, Bromley game aside it's of the few times we've attempted to play football this season, so maybe Nath has all eyes on the BSM0
 -

Went up to Hartlepool think nearly 3 years ago now when we had the Quarter Final and our away support was no worse than any other northern league away midweek turnout. May even have been better.JustFloydRoad said:

I'd rather go to Wembley with Charlton for a game that actually meant something. Can't stand this competition!4

Same here.cafcsinger said:I'd rather go to Wembley with Charlton for a game that actually meant something. Can't stand this competition!
If we did get to Wembley I for one would not be going.5 -
Last season 42k went to the final. In 2023 79k were there.
If you get to the latter stages, you want to get to Wembley and win. The last 4 winners of this trophy were Peterborough, Bolton, Rotherham and Sunderland, all clubs who've been at our level in recent years, and they weren't too proud to win it.8 -
I'd go in a heartbeat. I couldn't make the 2019 Play Off final and there are only so many opportunities to see your team at Wembley7
 -

I would imagine that every single football fan feels the same. But, back in the real world, play-offs* aside there are only three games a season at Wembley that "mean something" to EPL and EFL teams, and this is one of them.cafcsinger said:I'd rather go to Wembley with Charlton for a game that actually meant something. *Play-offs only matter to the winners. Only an idiot would prefer that gamble to automatic promotion.3 -
Let's be real we're not getting to Wembley in the FA or league cups in a hurry, so as rubbish as this tournament is, it's 1 of the 2 chances we have of getting there.6
 -

I had this chat at work the other day, with my colleague, he said top 6, or a trophy. I said Top 6 > any competition. I'd rather Wembley via play offs than the FA, League cup, L1+2 cup. If there is no chance of Top 6 by February, and we get to the quarters then let's go all in, however till then focus should be on the league.Chris_from_Sidcup said:Let's be real we're not getting to Wembley in the FA or league cups in a hurry, so as rubbish as this tournament is, it's 1 of the 2 chances we have of getting there.2
