Nowhere near good enough. Tom McIntyre was getting games ahead of him last season…

Don't know if Argyle will buy him, all the talk now from the owner is how they're 10 million in debt.

Can’t fault the attitude and effort levels but I worry about his decision making and him on the ball in championship. Remember some very sketchy passing last season including a cross field pass across the penalty area when we got thrashed at Rotherham

Did the same against Preston in the FA Cup too
  • Whether he stays or goes this has been a very successful loan for him, player of the season for a team on the edge of the play offs and very popular with their crowd.  He was also very popular at Lincoln before.  He is certainly top class in L1.

Personally think he is worth looking at again in pre-season, he is at least a top end league one centre-back and still young so unless we get offered a really decent sum would make sense to see if he can make it with us.

I get where you are coming from on paper but I think what gets missed in the "he is a top end League 1 CB" argument is that the attributes that are his strength at that level arent so important a league up and the attributes that are his weaknesses at that level are even more important a league up.

I was always a fan of his but ultimatelty he isnt quick enough or good enough on the ball to be a CB in the champ. He is as slow if not slower than Macca but doesnt have the ability to pick a pass like Macca does, he even struggled with the simple passes last year. As a right footer he is much easier to replace. As a left footer he would maybe stand a chance at being around the squad.

All of this depends on the assumption that Mitchell would happily sign an extension knowing he’s only going to make the bench at best and that’s with Burke and Sichenje being injured

He still has at least another year left on his current contract

Yh but we’re not going to let him walk for free at the end of next season when we could get 1/2 Mil for him now. For a player who’s not going to start

Outside of academy players & Alfie May i'm really struggling to think of a player that we have made profit on in our recent history  :D

Last 3 years we’ve Had Ness, Elewere, Davison but they obviously all came from the academy.

Actual player trading we’ve had May, O’Connell CBT and potentially REG so not a great deal

Looks like Plymouth are missing out on the Play-Offs thanks to a 92nd minute goal for Stevenage
A minute late Luton go 3-2 up @ Bolton, so even a Wigan equaliser at Stevenage would see Luton take 6th rather than Plymouth

Very controversial goal for Stevenage - don’t think it crossed the line. Luton will be upset about that one.

Seems like he wants to go as well, hopefully we get a good L1 bidding war

Wasn’t even close to being over the line, if you are not sure you can’t give it.

Seen relatively little of him, but every game I've seen him start he's made a glaring error that has cost us a goal.

    Stevenage ‘goal’.  https://x.com/WiganNotToday/status/2050609799549587668/video/1?s=46

I thought that they had goal line tech in the refs watch. No way that ball entirely crossed the line.

Don’t think they do in Leagues 1 and 2. Could be wrong though.

Alex's problem is that his first sport was rowing. He cane to us late as a  big unit CB. As a footballer he never played RB, so never knew when or how to close down wide players. Great in a four, but clueless in a three.

Sounds like he's incrdibly keen to keep playing in green

I think we should try and negotiate a deal with Plymouth that favours us. Decent fee, promotion clause, sell-on fee.

Alex is a good bloke, you can tell that by his interviews, and the right character you want, but reading that article, part of me wants to see him just be the main man elsewhere.

I'd like to see him stay here and I firmly believe he can play at this level, especially in a back 5, but his heart seems set on Plymouth reading that and watching the interviews.

In an ideal world he would come back, fight for a place, Jones could pass the torch to him in a way, but I don't see it. I think when a player gets accepted like that, they'll want the move, and we don't want an unhappy player with only a year left.

One thing for certain, I wouldn't entertain any offers until we know the future of Ramsay & Lloydy. If we lost both or even one, that changes this topic imo.

Might be worth seeing if there are any Plymouth players we might fancy, pebble and Tolaj the two I can think of and use Alex as a makeweight

Can see us being keen on both of them but Tolaj is likely to attract bigger clubs (or at least ones that can pay more)

Fairly sure Jones signed Pepple for Luton.

We won't be signing strikers from L1 if all goes to plan. NJ's comments about Godden yesterday make that pretty clear
