Brilliant, it looks like UAE are doing their utmost to hit Vingegaard before he gets himself settled in to racing at full capacity over the next few weeks.
TBH, it's amazing that he is as competitive as he is.
That said, I still think that the Tour really needs a Frenchman to win sometime very, very soon.
lol! I've been watching whilst taking my Son to squirrels (Lowest level of Scouts) - Have had to stand outside, as I usually help, as couldn't miss that
Some of the other leaders saw me celebrating and wondered what the hell I was on... That was one of his best wins as well, that wasn't handed to him by any means
Okay... Im home... I've watched it back properly and I'm an absolute mess Its even more special when you think back to that Interview when he was with Bahrain, and thought his career was done... The man was broken, even now its heart wrenching watching him in that mindset, even though it was pre-2021, and you know how the script turns on its head.
Even then you think back to the final Stage that year, and you think: "That was it that, was the moment" so to see him lose out then, lose out last year with the collarbone... I really was beginning to think he'd end his career with a "What IF
So to see this now - I was only 50/50 whether I believed he'd do it. However not like that, that was rolling back the years... that was one of his greatest wins!! - He'll keep going, I wont be surprised to see him get 36... But just hope that he gets to end the Tour now on HIS terms, he cant go home like last year now.
Won't get tired of watching that one back thats for sure... Netflix will love it with Season 3 of Unchained next year, wonder if we might even get a follow up documentary to the separate Mark Cavendish one they produced
Saw a terrific clip of Cav’s wife and kids passing the cyclists near their buses.
His youngest son turned to his mum and said, look it’s Tadej.
Pog called him over, chatted, ruffled his hair, and gave him his yellow cycling glasses - great memory for him on the day his dad got the record.
Its crazy really listening to the likes of Tadej talking about Cavendish as a legend, and someone they looked up to... In that regard it hard to believe that one of the best GC riders in the world would see Mark in that light, but in reality shows the Age gap, even Bini was saying that he was only nine when he started winning!!
