  • I do hope West Ham come back to win. Especially for all those so called fans of theirs that decided to walk out at 0-4, hopefully only to find out the result when they get home.
Could be like our 7-6 v Huddersfield (the last time they lost). 90,000 claiming to have been there and still alive.

Arsenal's form this season really cements how good Ødegaard actually is.

World beaters with him, terrible without.

    Just not true.
Arsenal won 5 drew 3 and lost 2 without Odegaard this season

Look sharper with him but far from terrible without.

No second half goals was 6.8 at half time on Betfair. It happens so often that the game becomes less open with the losing side not wanting a real thrashing and the winning team not wishing to let the opposition back in the game.

Don't tell me, the safety car came out for 40 laps as soon as you turned it on  ;)

A strong bit of fisting for the penalty but a weaker hand as Saka scores Arsenal's 2nd pen of the 1st half.
Wow, really thought we'd be seeing the Kenneth Williams gif for this one😉

  • Nicholas Offside Jackson must be the most improved striker in the Premier. Last season he couldn't hit a cow's arse with a banjo but his 8th goal this season was taken with aplomb.

Poor attempt by Watkins with just the keeper to beat.

Small touch by the Villa defender and the ball goes back inches but right decision in giving the free kick close to the villa goal as Martinez picks up the ball. Too many bodies in the way and nothing comes from Palmer's strike close to goal.
  • Crazy Martinez just played a one two with Jackson who was so surprised he couldn't control the ball.
    Comedy gold 😄
  • Ever since I said Jackson was an improved striker he has reverted back to the Jackson from last season 🤦🏻‍♂️

I detest Chelsea but they are much improved from last season.
  • Pep dropping Ederson seems like madness
  • Let's hope that the 30th goal that Palmer just scored for Chelsea can be emulated soon for England.

Got to agree with this. Absolute turd of a player last year. Much better this. Still prone to braindead offsides, but looks far more effective now.

By the way, is Nicolas ‘Offside’ Jackson any relation to Arthur ‘Two Sheds’ Jackson?
    😉
  • Have defenders lost the ability to defend set pieces (look at how many efforts Gabrial and VDV have had this season from them) in the same way as batters in cricket have lost the art of swaying out of the way or hitting in the middle of the bat bouncers - simply because neither set of players are actually watching the ball? In the case of defenders, they seem too preoccupied with holding and/or blocking the run of their man than attacking the ball and batters think that they don't have to watch the ball because they are wearing a helmet.
  • Half an hour in and City yet to have a shot
  • I can't say for sure, but anyone who watches basketball will be familiar with some of the tactics employed by players at football set pieces. Gabriel's header against Sporting was a perfect example of a pick and roll, the other Arsenal players stood between the keeper and the back post, thus stopping him from going to that area, and Gabriel started his run from deep and met a looping, swinging cross to that far post. All perfectly legal as the players weren't directly obstructing the keeper, but he essentially had no chance to get there.

Arsenal employ this tactic a lot in their set pieces and it helps having a big, physical side and a player that can whip crosses in on a very specific target

  • Is there something wrong with KDB or has he had a fall out with Pep as he's been back from injury  for a month and has yet to start a game. Mind you, I make it that in the 60 minutes he's been on the pitch for, City have conceded six goals so, possibly, Pep can't trust him or he's still lacking the fitness to enable him to do the job from the start.

It’s a bit of a mystery but my best guess is he’s old and can’t press and City are playing a different style which takes away chances for KDB’s passes
  • With Liverpool only 1-0 up from a half they have dominated anything is possible with the serial winners City to get back into the game.

Kevin de bruyne said Pep only have a Plan A. Multi passing and movement but Liverpool play with pace and city suddenly look vulnerable out of possession.

Interesting game of different tempo between the two teams.

What a shocking miss from Mo Salah.
They should be out of sight by now.
There could be a sting in the City tail if Liverpool carry on missing chances.

  • City look awful
  • Crazy to think that Liverpool look like they’re just conserving energy against City because they are so toothless
  • There feels there's a Volte-face in possession with City starting to play between the lines and TAA could be the weakness in defence.

As you were, Trent has been replaced.

    Mo Salah scores pen 2-0

City poor at the back again.
  • Take the mousers over Arse or Chels
  • Man City have looked bad this year. They’re a terrific group of players who are all capable of changing a game, but they’ve got away with it numerous times already. It’s a miracle they’ve taken this long to get beaten. Yesterday aside, they’ve looked like one of those teams that still somehow manages to win through their bad form.
And they always do the business in the second half of the season, so I expect them to prevail again this year.
My post above was after Man City lost the first game of this poor spell. What I didn’t expect was for them to get progressively worse. Watching them against Spurs last week and Liverpool today it’s almost unbelievable that this is the team that’s been so dominant for the last 5 years. Yes, they’re without Rodri and maybe a couple of others, but most of the team were part of those winning sides, yet they are playing like relegation fodder - no control, no ideas, giving the ball away, no penetration. Absolutely atrocious.

I’ve no love for Man City, but I’d prefer anyone over Liverpool. Cant see the title going anywhere but Merseyside now though, unfortunately.
