The break up of Liverpool is about to start. Reports today that Trent is close to accepting an offer to join Real Madrid. Salah and Van Dijk are still out of contract in 3 months.
Means that in the last 4 years Madrid will have signed Alaba, Rudiger, Mbappe and Trent for nothing*
*officially nothing but obviously not, as there will have been heavy signing on fees.0 -
You would have to say they are the biggest FC in the world. I know Madrid are hated and I'm no fan but they usually get the players they want. They seem to be going down their galácticos route again

Any player that wants to leave Liverpool suddenly becomes overrated by their fans. It was the same with Sterling.1

Well, its been a brilliant 11 days for Spurs.
Two consecutive weekends without it being ruined by Big Ange and the Lillywhite Lightweights.
Shame it all comes to an end next Thursday for our annual defeat/no show at Stamford Bridge.0 -
Another year, another financial farce allowed for Chelsea.
If you remember last year the owners sold a hotel to themselves to get around PSR. Well this year they've sold the women's team to themselves for well over 100m to get around it. The women's team has been 'sold' from Chelsea FC to the owners’s parent company BlueCo, allowing them to record a profit of 129m.
Imagine the uproar if this was Newcastle or Man City.5 -

Given the rumoured ownership shenanigans behind the scenes and various members of the consortium falling out with each other , I wonder what tricks they'll try to pull next season

Crazy that Tarkowski didn’t get sent off, he knew exactly what he was doing1

Feels like so long since the last Premier League matches. They can’t be doing back to back international & FA Cup weekends, it’s not ethical.1

How is that NOT offside?0

Bournemouth seem to be having the end of season collapse that we used to do back in our PL years, as their squad seems to have hit a wall. Out of the cup, and sliding out of European contention.0

Ipswich can at least give themselves some hope if they beat Wolves this weekend and reduce the gap to 6 points. But hope is all it would realistically be as they then face Chelsea, Arsenal and Newcastle in the next 3 games after.0 -

Iraola reminds me very much of Pochettino when he was at Southampton. He seems to have that energy about him.
I do wonder where he'll be next season. Does he stay at Bournemouth or does he move on?
I have to be honest, even if Spurs win the Europa (which I think is an utterly ridiculous suggestion given how we've been playing this season!), I just can't see Ange being in charge next season. I'm still amazed he is still in charge after the run of results we've had. It wouldn't surprise me if Levy has got some kind of break clause at the end of the season to limit the compensation pay out.

Seen some suggestions Spurs want Iraola but not sure the squad suits his style and can’t see Levy wanting to overhaul the squad. The next step for Iraola is an interesting one, not many “big” clubs will be happy to have a squad full of his players1

Anyhow, I think Levy's comments in the week regarding the latest financial figures about spending were quite telling. ENIC have no intention of spending beyond the means, making the club as sustainable as possible. Depending on what side of the argument you sit - on one hand its an admirable stance but on the other, its as frustrating as hell seeing us fall further behind the big 5 and the likes of Villa, Newcastle and now even Nottingham Forest3 -
Also thought the financial comments were interesting. Don’t have the stat in front of me but sure I heard someone say after that as % of turnover Spurs wages are quite low in comparison to the rest of the league. Can see them becoming a Palace/Bournemouth/Brighton style 10th place team with the odd flirtation with European football which obviously isn’t good enough for a club that size0

Player def offside & then 2 seconds later he plays the ball to the goalscorer.
To me offside is offside, doesn't matter if you didnt initially touch the ball. The defender doesn't know that and is making a challenge and / or taking the player into account when deciding what to do.2 -

Christina Philippou, a professor in accounting and sport finance at the University of Portsmouth specialising in women’s football, said her estimated valuation for Chelsea Women was between £50million and £80million. Kieran Maguire, a football finance expert, said he would have expected a valuation of between £20million and £30million.1 -

One of those situations where the rule is dubious, but correctly interpreted by the officials and VAR.0
