Blimey, the Hollywood music took me on his journey, not a dry eye in the house.

Utter despair to start, the stirring passage to mark his progress and the return to emotional stuff as his band of brothers applaud his recovery at the end.

I can't wait for season two - maybe Gustav Holst's Bringer of War as he enters the pitch for the first time, followed by Handel's Hallelujah chorus when he scores the winner.  A final touch might be Tchaikovski's piano concerto no.1 in B flat minor as he turns to the crowd, waves and leaves the pitch in a mood of triumphant = if quiet, satisfied reflection.

    CUT!
    Goal by Godden!
    Score by Hans Zimmer
Are we in for Hans zimmer?

think we are in the frame .....

I think him and Kelman on the pitch at the same time could be very exciting! to hell with the formation.
    Agreed.
But which one will be LWB?

They'll have to overlap each other with Gillesphey being the outlet  :#

think we all realised over the course of last season just how good a player Matty is and his signing and Alfie's departure proved to be fully justified - he's simply a better all round player than Alfie was

throw into the mix that he was clearly playing with an injury from Jan onwards and it's even more remarkable.

such a shame he's not been fit so far this season as I'm pretty sure we'd be higher up the table than we are with him available

Even Cawley has wondered on twitter, if this video will signal a return to the 20-man squad for Godden on Saturday

Nowadays with the lack of reserve team football.... if a player is starting his return with 10-15 mins off the bench, why not at first team level? Has to start somewhere, and if 15 mins is the starting point, it may as well be on the bench for the first team.

I imagine he would get quite a decent welcome from the home crowd 👏👏👏

The risk with doing that this weekend is it probably only happens if we’re 1 down or drawing. That then brings in the option of extra time and that 15 mins becomes 45 mins. It’s a waste to have a sub on the bench who you can only bring on during extra time. Just keep them back one extra week.

Really glad to see Godden back, not just from a footballing perspective, just because he seems a genuinely good bloke and you want to see people like that in life do well.

On the footballing side, the cynic in me says that the club have brought out this video to draw some attention away from the transfer window.

Godden is undoubtedly a great finisher, but his Championship stats dropped off before he left Coventry, and with him being 2 years older, and coming back from a bad injury, there shouldn't be pressure on him to replicate his League 1 form. It would be unrealistic.

He's half a season behind the league, will be out of 90 minute match fitness, and sharpness. It would be a miracle to see him hit the ground running.

Welcome back Matty, I hope you can provide what you did last season, as we need players to step up.

Jones comments today suggest he’s still a few weeks away from starting but he’s back in full training and might make some bench appearances in the near future.

With Kelman looking threatening of late Godden being eased back in and not expected to start is maybe not the end of the world it might have been. Matty as an option off the bench as a clinical finisher for even a half chance that might fall in the box but also as an all round striker is a great option. Will also mean that Kelman or Leaburn can be subbed late on in games, which is good for their recovery and means them picking up injuries is much less likely.

We still need a like for like cover for Leaburn but Godden is a better option than we have had.

From his comments on reintegrating him into the squad I’d say Godden will definitely be on the bench Saturday (but won’t feature)

To me it feels like a perfect. no pressure game (in reality) to bring him back. If we are 2-0 down say, then give him 20 minutes from the bench, as if we somehow draw level, it's be a masterstroke, and if we don't then nothing has been lost, and he's got some minutes in his legs. It'll give a big boost to the crowd as well.

If we were somehow 1-0 up and clinging on, he'd be way better up front than any of our other strikers, as he can hold the ball up and use his experience to win free kicks.

But none of that addresses the fact he might then need to play an actual half an hour which is risky.

If we’re losing I’d rather use his first appearance adrenaline in a league game that might help our survival

What a top top professional Matty Golden is, and a bigs hats off to Adam Coe and not forgetting the surgeon, second time around putting him in a good place.
Looking forward to seeing him back on the pitch and will give the whole team a lift and with Josh coming back and a couple of new additions I believe we will stand a good chance to keep away from the drop zone👍

To say he didn’t have full movement since feb, it just goes to show how well he did play last season, because for most of it he had us fooled. That turned out to be some effort from him.

Isn’t he a PL glory hunter (Arsenal really)? I’d like to think otherwise but tbh I put him in that same pigeonhole with Alessia Russo. (Who also has a soft spot for us.)

Want to see him back banging them
in for us, of course! And fantastic in the video how he says “we” when he means “I”. Love a team player.
