Mens steeplechase is ran very different to the 1500 and other middle/long distance races this year, they're going pretty steady and waiting for the final 400m to get a sprint finish
The Yanks having a great time in the athletics, Rooks with the race of his life
Beat his PB by 9 seconds.
Like I said earlier, what's the secret? I get they have great facilities etc but that's a huge difference to run in a final, so how do they find that extra 5-10%? And if it's purely drive and determination, why can't anyone else seem to push as hard until the end?

That's a ridiculous improvement. The US are on a roll in the second weak of the games, maybe team success gives their competitors that extra 1%?
Both Kerr and Hudson-Smith wanted it so badly and both ran personal best times. I feel more gutted for Hudson-Smith than Kerr but TBF to Josh he talked very well afterwards as he knew he did everything to win.
Josh lives and trains in Albuquerque and Matt has been training in Florida for some time.
No magic formula for winning Golds and I have seen it won from the front or like tonight the winner comes from the fast finisher in the 400M.
Good to see Matt happy and positive in his interview just like Josh. Be the best you can be and both did that.
Not about doping then? I can’t help but be suspicious when people come from way back at the end (400m guy) or smash their PB by three seconds (1500m guy). But then our lads train over there too so…
Thailand win the gold in the lightweight Taekwondo, in the middle of the Grand Palais (what an amazing venue btw) but what's the scoring all about? VAR replays to see one girl gently tap her toe on her opponent's headguard

No one will ever be able to compete with Paris for venues. They’ve won that for eternity.
Similar to Kerr last night, in both races the Americans were brilliant, rather than the Brits throwing it away.
2 so called favourites for Gold.
Along with the bikes, the rowers, the clay shooter & the equestrian there have been Gold medals there for the taking & for one reason or another its slipped from our grasp.
How much better the medal table would look with 4 or 5 more Golds.

Trip to Lille to take in some of the Olympics. Watched France vs Germany in the men’s handball. Packed out with 16k hyped of Frenchmen. Cracking atmosphere
Saw one minute highlights of the game. Looked like an incredible ending.
Should make it easier for Denmark as the bookies had France as 2nd favourites.
What's the story? Do the Americans want it more? They seem to just find another gear at the end of the races
prob a population of 300m and a collegiate system with the best athletic facilities in the world.
Some very turbo-charged performances from Yanks who strangely have barely raced outside their own country, and not been world leading in their event. PBs shattered.

They are athletes at the pinnacle of their sport. They’ve been training and pushing through pain barriers for this moment over months and years. Do you think anyone that driven in the first place is going to give anything less than everything they can?

What Americans have barely raced outside their own country?
It's also worth noting that the track was built to be fast, so we're likely to see some fast times. American's aren't the only ones setting PB's.
BBC are so frustrating, just endlessly twaddling on about any old shit, meanwhile on Eurosport they are simultaneously showing the men's discus final and the women's pole vault
And what a great couple of finals they were.
Kept flicking between Eurosport and BBC, all talk talk talk on the beeb no action. Why do they need three people to discuss things.
Eurosport have Iuan Thomas who is a good summariser and gives his opinion.

(because we all know Gold is everything...😉)
Do you have to moan about fucking everything? Jesus, you must be so draining to live with.
Marathon race walk mixed relay just kicked off - who knew that was a thing!
Mixed relays are making it a lot easier to get a medal in many sports. Rowers must be jealous, imagine how many medals Steve Redgrave could have won if rowers had relays as well!

You wanted a reason they’re doing so well, someone gave you one and you’ve said surely they should be doing better. I don’t get it.
