He didn’t alright but let’s remember he’s playing against players that probably have never made a senior appearance.
If he’s got knowledge to pass on then great, but I don’t wanna see another league one appearance thanks.
If he can teach/coach the likes of Leaburn, Ahadme etc to replicate the touch/pass/awareness of the pass for the third goal then great.
But realistically he looked good/better using his wiles against a bunch of kids. If he tries the same thing against proper pros in the league they will laugh him off and/or flatten him.

Only he did the same v Wrexham and they didn't laugh or flatten him
No problem with him being used as and when, he clearly knows the dark arts of a striker and still has some ability. His main role will be teaching those parts of the game to our younger strikers but he certainly isn't completely useless in a game situation and with our injury crisis it is good to have another senior pro rather than relying on someone like Mbick off the bench in the league.

Possibly I exaggerated a bit but he didn't look particularly effective either. He did the same thing and played the same way and against the U21s it made a notable impact. Against Wrexham it didn't as far as I could see.
I think he's got a place and a job but playing in league games is not it (or shouldn't be) as far as I'm concerned.

Its because they were in awe!! - Translation: They were scared shitless he'd wipe them out

was absolutely nowhere near the level of effectiveness against Wrexham as he was last night.

Didn't say he was but he wasn't laughed at or flattened when he started putting it about.

Plenty of us had a chuckle watching him from the Covered End.
This is a tough ole division and someone like Hylton comes in useful if used at the right time. Do not underestimate him. He was a class act and may be near the end of his career, but showed last night that he has a part to play.

Fair enough but on the other hand i can't see many defenders or managers seeing Hylton getting ready on the side line and thinking to themselves "oh no, this is bad news", at senior level at least.
Nor are many Charlton fans going to be looking at the bench and thinking "time for the secret weapon, Danny Hylton" in the same way that bringing someone like Aneke/Leaburn/Dixon off the bench could conceivably make a tangible difference.
I think some of the criticism of Hylton is overboard honestly, he's doing what Jones asks as well as he can do it but for me if the answer is Hylton, we're asking the wrong question.
Anyone know why it went so badly at Northampton for him? 6 starts, 24 sub apps and 0 goals in the league over 2 seasons, the first being a promotion season and the second in L1 where he only appeared 4 times.
If he’s still up to it why didn’t Northampton make better use of him?

Despite Danny Hylton's really good Cameo against the young men of Chelsea, with his use of knocked ons, strength and nous including the simple but effective use of his body before setting Tyreece on his way for the 3rd, his best work should be at Sparrows lane with the likes of our young forwards, Kanu, Campbell, Mbick, Casey etc and even Miles, though dad Carl should have taught the skill and craft of playing against CB's of various standards years ago and obviously at a higher level than Danny boy. Godden at 33 wouldn't need any help from Hylton but Ahadme looks in need of some advice.
Again, he only got involved against Wrexham because Kanu, Ahadme and sick note Aneke were not available.

Ok, that one vote in for Danny.
Will it be Danny Hylton or the return of the favourite son Johnnie Jackson who leads cafc back to the promised land of the Premier in 28/29 after Nathan Jones takes the Welsh job after Craig Bellamy gets sacked after running amok with a five iron after losing to Gibraltar and being caught between a rock and a hard place. Golfie states Jones had taken CAFC as far as he could after finishing 7th in the championship in 27/28.
Nicholas and Billy mix have a good curse just in case we become Shit again and they forgot how to rant.
CAFC will have 10k tourists in 28/29 every home game as they do a triple package with the London dungeon and London eye where you can be scared shitless, see the sights, including Big Ben... Who is 6ft 6in and fresh from the Category A cafc academy and a 17 year old CB who has been watched by more scouts than Baden Powell at a jamboree back in the day.
He's clearly a bit creakier than he was in his prime but I think he showed on Saturday and last night that he's still got something to offer if NJ wants to use him during a game. He had some nice touches and a good header from the corner last night for example. For the most part we've got inexperience up top with Miles, Gassan, TC, DK and Kaheim and Matty is the only one with experience who we get decent minutes from. It seems to make sense that Hylton is mainly with us to coach the youngsters and who knows, perhaps having a dedicated attack coach helps us retain and re-sign them...... they and their agents must see the value in it?
