Every manager is under pressure. It's a hard job.

I don't see how we beat Lincoln - they just smashed Burnley 4-1
The championship is a very unpredictable league - Swansea were top and lost 5-0 to QPR the other day.

We have to hope Solly March is the 26/27 version of Thierry small !
If he gets on the pitch I’m willing to bet his end product is more reliable than Smalls was

Turns out to be the 26/27 version of Charlie Kirk.
Hopefully not the dead one. Although it would be an improvement on our right wing.

Maybe he's got the Bolton and Sheffield United home games to try and turn it around

Had an update this afternoon - Following discussions this week, Jones is going nowhere for now.

When I asked how long “for now” meant, there was no clear timeframe, but the feeling is that nothing is imminent over the next week or so.

Well we have a new CEO now so interesting times ahead

I think Jones has the next 3 games to get a win. If he doesn’t then he will probably be sacked.

If it happens I think Robbie Keane could be a name that comes up, and has worked with the new CEO before. He did knock back Preston recently so not sure if he’s keen on a championship relegation battle though

Worked at 2 power houses in the respective leagues and won the leagues and cups but doesn't seem to stick anywhere for long.
  • The biggest issue is that we have a League One squad in the Championship, and without investment in January, I can’t see how we stay up.

Jones’s brand of football is terrible to watch, and at the moment, it feels like he’s trying everything to find a winning formula. It reminds me of how we stumbled across that lopsided 3-5-2, with Small at right wing-back.

With the squad we have, staying in this league probably means finding a manager who can organise a defence and win ugly. But that’s essentially what we already have in NJ, so shouldn’t we just stick with him?

I change my mind on NJ every day. One minute I think he has to go, the next I think we should give him more time. Either way, we desperately need investment in the playing squad in January.

True - but isn’t Rodwell the one in charge of the footballing side?

Don’t hold your  breath for the investment😬

On this, do we not have a very similar solution available at the moment? Like everyone I have been thinking what the right approach could be with this disaster of a squad, feels like we need five at the back given frailties but need to keep TC wide left. That's what the Small system allowed, with Small becoming a right winger in attack, TC on the left and four at the back.

Isn't Mesik basically perfect for that left footed attacking RWB role? I've quite liked him when he's played but at LB he's often found way too far up the pitch, leaving a huge hole down the left. Stick him at RWB with a stodgy back four to the left of him, with minimal license for them to go forward (I'd favour Bell and Danny Mac on that basis).

Cov as the pivot, Chalobah or failing that JRC at the 8 and Carey or Knibbs as the 10/ other 8. Kelman up top.

Anyone got Jones' number so I can let him know I've saved his job?

The irony is, since beating Preston at the end of August, we have digressed so much that if we played them now, I dont think we would beat them

Preston have got just as few points since then as we have and their recent form is actually worse. I don’t think we were even that good when we played them, they are just really bad. Be surprised if they don’t finish 24th
  • Our football under Jones appears to be about 20 years out of date when we come up against other teams that just seem to pass it around us at will.

I don't think the way we play in sustainable. It takes a huge amount of effort and every player has to be on the top of their game, every single game (the best versions of themselves 😜)

Other teams allow the ball to do the work, whilst we chase shadows.
Not only is it unenjoyable for the crowd, the players also cannot possibly be enjoying their football.

Eventually they get demoralised. 100% becomes 80% and confidence in their own ability drains away.
I think that's where we are currently at, and it was inevitable that it would eventually happen, constantly playing that kind of non football, week in week out.

But it's not Jones' fault remember!?
It’s money, money, money and we don’t have any!
  • But it isn't an impossible ask, Hull are a current prime example of how you make your team greater than the sum of its parts. There are lots of other examples in the PL and EFL.

No fans are expecting prime Barcelona stuff with our squad - we just expect the side to be able to complete more than 7 passes in 15 minutes of football at home against a side who have lost 5 on the bounce and show just a little ambition in the way we play.
Hull under their transfer embargo still had a much bigger player budget than we do. They already had quality, highly paid players before the embargo, they just weren’t allowed to pay a fee for any more. We really are competing with both arm’s tied.

To do what ? Improve performances or get a certain amount of points? . Four points from the next three games must be the bare minimum.

Good article here summarising the situation. I feel for Jones because I think the main reason we are struggling is the lack of backing in the summer window to fill the obvious gaps that needed filling. Do think he desperately needs a win from the next 3 games or it will become too toxic and he will have to go. Hope it doesn’t come to it and we can get a win and then struggle on until January
  • 2 games for me

Middlesbrough is a bit of a free hit, but must get a result against Bolton

Struggling to think of bigger own goal than sacking Nathan Jones for Robbie Keane.

2 week break after that fixture so time to make a decision if results have not improved between now and then.

If the rumour is true of course. No reason to think otherwise

Getting totally pissed off with posting rumours that i have received from a very good source and getting pile ons from posters like you. What is your problem? Anyway I don’t need it, will stop posting on here it is just not worth it. Bye
