Wrexham sell out ?
Comments

There's always posts on Reddit and places from overseas fans that find themselves in London for the weekend for a Sunday Prem game or something and want an additional Saturday game to go to based who's on at home and we come up very regularly as a good choice even from neutrals.4

That’s what my pal told me but may well be an exaggeration. A few mates have said though that some games you hear more foreign speaking than English!0

FFS this is the 3rd tier of English footi and a crowd of over 22k Charlton fans
Why not celebrate that fact and the commercial success it was for the club
Oh no - let’s have another popNow let’s look forward to the same marketing campaign which got the crowds in today for the rest of the season
Should be onto a winner even fits a small gain in the average attendance after and including todayBut of course that means winning a couple of games first…🙁
I don’t expect a similar gate for the next 5 home games between now and the end of the year, but Methven and his employees can’t let this opportunity this afternoon go to waste and need to get hold of those first timers this afternoon from Monday morning to get them back once again
My other half got our tickets and she received an email welcoming her as a first time visitor to the valley with advice on transport links etc despite living 2-3 miles away, using her con number she’s had for over 20 years to book, being a lapsed season ticket holder and been going since the Selhurst days.
4000 first timers and 1000 from abroad was out an out bull****.

My mate has a season ticket at The Den and he says the same thing to me. Imagine different type of demographic, compared to Charlton as they are usually just blokes.AFKABartram said:That’s what my pal told me but may well be an exaggeration. I remember in the promotion season under Bowyer being in The Fans Bar pre-match and a group of 4 from Norway came and joined our table. Said they arrived at City airport on the Friday, can’t remember if there was a game on Friday night they may have taken in first, then onto us on the Saturday, Brentford the next day then think even Fulham on the Monday. Wasn’t a one off visit either for them.AFKABartram said:
Why is it bull? Millwall get around 3-4,000 overseas visitors every game. We also get a lot (nowhere near their levels). Football weekend trips to London taking in two games are pretty huge these days.ElfsborgAddick said:paulbaconsarnie said:

I managed to walk down west stand steps just before ht whistle blew. Immediately joined queue fir a beer.... and it didn't move for a good 5 mins or so after the whistle as they had to change a barrel. Wtf... do that before half time.Ducktapeshoerepairs said:
If the people working in the food/drink outlets weren’t so useless, you wouldn’t have to leave 10 mins before half time to get a beer ! There were still queues for food/drink 15 mins into second half. The demand is there (like it or not), they just need to organise themselves and make more money AND mean people can get what they want within the half time period.golfaddick said:I do think fans have changed since the Premiership years.
20 years ago we'd get 25k most weeks but I certainly dont remember so many people leaving their seats 10 mins before half time & not returning until the 55th minute (as happened A LOT today in the AC stand). Yes people left at HT to get a drink or go to the loo but I still had streams of people up & down the stairs with chips & bottles of coke 10 mins into the 2nd half.
The pumps should basically be on constant pour.
There should be 50 pre poured 3/4 full pints to be topped up.
There are even signs above some outlets saying something like "express beer lane", so gather and gather have thought of it... but it ain't being executed....
Revenue being missed and fans' experiences being diminished due to managerial incompetence at the food and drink contractor- take it in house!1 -

People can moan about the marketing to achieve yesterdays attendance, but things like this make it all worth it, local businesses having an extra great day because of our club bringing more people to the area.carly burn said:

I had a'couple of Amrrican's sitting behind me (AC stand) and could tell by their comments this was their first time watching us.MartinCAFC said:There were quite a lot of Americans in the crowd yesterday, went over to the Fan Zone and had to wait for the Wrexham coach to get in and while waiting I could hear a couple of them behind me talking to each other asking if there wasn’t a special entrance anywhere? Like as if there should have been some sort of car park underneath the ground like you get in American stadiums. They also wanted to find the main entrance if there was a stadium map anywhere.
A few more joined right behind us in the Chicken George queue and then a couple more were actually sitting right next to me during the game. To be fair they actually got behind Charlton all game. I’d say the Disney+ effect was probably the biggest pull of the crowd by quite a distance, I’m sure the marketing the club did help the crowd numbers but reckon if they’d treated it like any other game it would have still been a fairly similar crowd. Still fair play to the club.
Very knowledgeable as they picked up within the first 20 mins that TC was our danger player and that he should be given the ball at every opportunity.
They also commented the difference in the midfields - how Wrexham attacked with power & purpose and ours just go sideways.0 -

I’m sure the attendance was due to the lack of games on I was sat next to 2 young Ajax fans who were in London working they knew nothing of the Hollywood connection but enjoyed their day ! Without doubt there were lots of foreign visitors which can only be a good thing surely8

It's an exaggeration. Yes there's a certain appeal to seeing Millwall but they don't get the equivalent of a full Jimmy Seed stand every home game.AFKABartram said:That’s what my pal told me but may well be an exaggeration. From Millwallcommunity.org:
Millwall's international audience continues to grow healthily, too. A staggering 11,000 unique overseas supporters visited SE16 for at least one match last season – a 63% increase on 2022/23's total.
So 500ish per game, admittedly still an impressive number.

Went fans bar after game and gave up, too rammed. Walked to the River Ale instead only to find it too was absolutely rammed... Must have been about 40 people stood outside. It was a long walk to The Crown in Greenwich for our first post-match pint!carly burn said:

Yep, I spoke to a group of six or seven Belgian fans from Antwerp on the train back to London after the match. They were going to the West Ham match today so came to see us yesterday. They thought we were rubbish!DiscoCAFC said:

Foreigners coming over for the weekend to catch a couple of football matches in London is big business and something we should be looking to capitalise on as much as possible. Our close proximity to LCY should be utilised in marketing for things like this, with flights to and from the footballing hotbeds of Europe, making it incredibly easy to come along and watch us.
Yesterday was a perfect storm for this, as others said Brentford, with a smaller capacity than ours, were the only other London game on Saturday, and with 4 London games today, with a total capacity of almost 200k to fill, it's actually slightly unsurprising how many extra tickets we sold in the end.14 -
Bloody Wrexham love in stuff...enough already, close the thread...please🤦♂️0

I'm still not having this. They do not know, I reckon one person may apply and not be on the database and be classed as a first time visitor. They ask for 4 tickets then all of a sudden there are 4 new visitors.AFKABartram said:

As for Millwall, I think that figure has a few too many zeros.0 -
Who was it recommending parking up at 2.45 as there are never any traffic wardens and did he or anyone get a ticket?0
 -

That's if all of those 11,000 unique overseas supporters all only ever went to one game - that is statistically very unlikely, and therefore the average number per game would almost certainly be greater than 500.RedPanda said:

I sat next to a couple of Feyenoord fans who had tickets for the West Ham match today (I am pleased for them that they experienced injury time penalty celebrations in both games). They had done their research on Charlton, liked the tradition of 'The Red, Red Robin', the similar team colours/badges of Charlton and Feyenoord, thought Coventry was our most cultured player and enjoyed the match despite the 'lousy' football in the second half.4

Millwall average 15k at home games, and in the championship you'll often get at least 1k away fans, with most teams selling 2k.
You can't seriously tell me that 3-4k of the 13-14k home fans are overseas visitors.1 -
