I can’t bear the thought of travelling down on the train for this one as they are bound to be full of Wrexham fans so I’m driving. Any suggestions on parking please ?
When the away end is sold out, they normally restrict sales in home end (ie members/purchase history). Are they not doing that this time ?
away end isn’t sold out yet
Interesting, I presumed it would have done, when was the last time they played at The Valley ?
In Wrexham defence it is a long journey to south London from north Wales and probably one of the more expensive journey to travel too. Plus 3k is a decent allocation size. Plenty of ex premier league clubs in north of England in this division (Bolton, Wigan Blackpool etc , which are probably deemed to be better away days than Charlton.
Assuming Wrexham sell out the away end there will be lots of 'tourists' who are not Charlton fans. You know, prime example are the South Korean fans who attend Spurs games to watch Son-not to support Spurs. If he moves on so will they.

I’m not telling you where I park. Bloody glory hunters
I think the parking will be a big issue next Saturday.
Thanks for that 😂
For anyone with moderate mobility it’s been fine with crowds of 10-12,000-ish despite the restrictions. I think next Saturday will be completely different because the area south of the park will be overloaded, which will probably push people the wrong side of Shooters Hill Road. It’s an unknown scenario, because we’ve never had a 20,000 crowd with these restrictions and no one, certainly including the council, can know until it happens. I suspect a lot of people will be driving around looking for a spot after 2pm.
Blows my mind people will moan that others want to watch our football club. Who cares if it’s their first game? Everyone has to start some time.
That's the point. You go to a football match the watch the match. Not to spend a third of it on the concourse supping a pint. If you want a drink stay in the fucking pub
Lost count the amount of times today that I had to let people in or out of my row whilst the match was going on. Not to mention the amount of people ambling up the stairs who then stop right in front of me blocking my view.
But no need to worry about me. I've got my ticket for next week but then I'm out.
Ridiculous snowflake comments with no point at all, you are upset people who buy a ticket want to make use of the services at the ground. If you get upset by people doing what most people at a football match do, id suggest football isn't for you and not coming is for the best.
If more neutrals come and buy seats and enjoy the day then maybe they will start to come regularly and not just for Wrexham. Maybe they'll even become fans...and that would be a good thing - surely?
Great theory of course, however historically we always fuck these situations up...
The ratio of big Charlton crowds to wins must be quite something. On a consistent basis we lose big interest games like this.
Thus it ever was, back when the crowds were really big:
Villa (1938) 75,031 - drawn
Arsenal (1936) 68,000 + 20,000 over the wall - lost
Arsenal (1956) 71,000 - lost
However, must not forget Huddersfield (1957) won 7-6 - official 12,000, in reality 75,032
There is only a 15 minute window to get served at half time if you want to watch every kick of the match. Those that go down to the bar early are doing a favour to those that wait for the half time whistle to go but still want to try and get a drink or something to eat. Heaven forbid that everybody waits for the whistle before jumping up and trying to get down the tunnels at the same time. They’d all be still queuing to get down there when the second half kicks off.
Can you not go 2 hours without a drink ?
Is it usual to eat something at 3.45 in the afternoon ? Most people eat lunch between 12 & 2 and have an evening meal between 6 & 8pm. Needing to have a burger & chips in the middle of the afternoon strikes me of bad meal planning.
I sympathise with those who have bladder issues & need to use the toilet regularly, but most people leaving the match between 3.40 & 4.10 are under 50 years of age.
I just wonder what they all do during the other 6 days of the week. No wonder why GDP growth in this country is in the doldrums as the workforce is constantly taking 30 min breaks during the day.
Bet you're fun at parties
Oh the irony.
But yeah.......I get a football out, put 2 jumpers down for goalposts & start a kick about.
And woebetide anyone who wants to get past and into the kitchen to get a beer.
Surely the majority of extra people coming at least have some interest in Charlton?
I can't believe that an extra 10-12k people are all coming just to see Wrexham. When i (rather sadly) looked on their site last week they hadn't even sold out the away end yet. Although i'm sure they will.
They know very little about League 1 football that they're coming because they think Ryan Reynolds is playing.

And will be late getting into the ground meaning even more people trying to get to their seats at 3.10pm.

Do you always go 1 down, then claw it back to 2-1 in the last minutes of the party? Pretty sure there's a term for this, but can't for the life of me remember what it is
Great posts on this thread from golfaddick.I can just picture him chuckling away at the number of people who bite on his bait.well done golfer. I must say it has always struck me as weird that people (lots) are so keen the q up to get a drink at half time at a football match when they can get as many pints as they like down their necks as soon as the game finishes.what is so special about a pint at 3.45 that people are willing to go to such inconvenience to get it

He would probably grab a goal as well, considering our propensity to let people with little footballing ability - like Macauley Bonne - score against us.

You can’t watch that League One shit sober , more often than not it’s horrific
Ive decided I'm going to camp in the West Stand car park from Wednesday to try and get a prime spot for when the Wrexham celebrities arrive. Suspect many others will be too.
Will we have to buy parking tickets for our tents now the new non-Matchday parking restrictions are in play in the car park?
In booked in to have a Charlton v Wrexham 26/10/24 tattoo on Tuesday. So excited.

Apparently at 2.55 Mark Groombridge is going to parachute out of a plane carrying the match ball whilst live vlogging and screaming ‘League One is sh*t, what am I doing?”
The parachute fabric will be red, nylon, and carrying the words ‘Welcome to Wrexham - Season 4 Coming Soon’
For one game only, the pre matching handshakes between the teams are being replaced with High Fives and whooping

I should imagine between 12.30 - 13.00 as presumably they have a longish lunch?
