Hope not. Already too many people who think that the first half kicks off at 3.10,  finishes at 3.40 & restarts around 4.10pm.

It also amazes me that they dont seem to care about the game but have to stop on the stairs when there is an attack commencing to watch the action.

If you dont care enough that you have to get your pie & pint at 3.40 then ffs piss off & don't block the view of those wanting to watch the match.

    Fucking plastics.
Do you sit in the family stand Golfie? It could be me you’re describing although to be fair it is normally nearer to 3:35 I head down.

I’ve been going home and away for about 40 years so not sure I’m a plastic, but I do know that the half time pint and chat with my pals and family has been the best part of the Valley experience for much of the last 15 or so mostly shite years. And if you can handle watching us scrape draws against the likes of Stevenage or Fleetwood  without alcohol then all power to you but I’m afraid you will still have to stand up for a millisecond in the 35th and 55th minute to let me get back to my seat because I can’t! Sorry!

I find it strange that a football fan would be prepared to miss over 20 minutes of a match for the sake of a beer
Because for a lot of people going to Charlton isn't just about the football. If it was, a lot more people wouldn't go after the last 15 years of garbage served up.
If it were just about meeting mates for a pint and a chat and the football is secondary then why not just meet down the pub? The beer would be better and cheaper and you could spend more on it because you wouldn’t be spending the money on a match ticket.

I too find it infuriating when people arrive late, leave ten minutes before half time, come back ten minutes after the second half has started, then twenty minutes later need a wee so go out again. In the process missing at least 30 minutes of the game. Same applies with people eating burger and chips. At four in the afternoon?
People that eat when they’re hungry sounds more healthy than people eating just because the clock has turned 12 whether they are actually hungry at that time or not.

The 15 minute shouting match between the bloke who insisted on standing near the front of H block and the steward and crowd behind him was quite entertaining.

This could be all very embarrassing if it ends up with less than 20k in the ground. That initial rush of ticket sales was probably just touts thinking they’ll going to be able to make a fortune selling them on.
Very much doubt that, got to be easier ways for a tout to make money!

It must be me, I don't get the hype around Wrexham, just because a couple of 'celebrities' own them!
I could understand if we're selling out because of football, but just because some Hollywood stars, may or may not be there, and may or may not be seen, is stupid! However if it boosts the clubs coffers all well and good, but I reckon die-hard fans, may have their day upset by 'autograph' hunters!
If I get asked for my autograph they will be told go away impolitely.

I hope we sell out as it would be great for Charlton to have a bigger home match attendance in a L1 match this season than either of Millwall or Palace in the leagues above.
But not because we are good (relative to them) but because our opponents are seen as a bigger  attraction at The Valley than the home team. That’ll put them in their place.
Do Palace play teams worse than us very often ? Considering the level of clubs they play, I'd try find the positive if we have more turn up.
No, but they fill the majority of the ground with their own supporters, not tourists or those there primarily to see the other team.
That's because those ultras scare the away fans off.

    PS only joking.

FFS its Wrexham. I don’t think I’ll be flying back from Spain for the match.

Haven't read this whole thread so I'm probably repeating what's already been said but I'm really not arsed by it. I often have a few tourists around me at games, as it's no doubt one of the easiest ways to get the chance to see an English football game without breaking the bank. I'd be annoyed if anyone celebrated a Wrexham goal, but in terms of the atmosphere, it's so poor nowadays anyway I expect this to make it a bit better.

The more the merrier as far as I’m concerned. It will be great to see the place nearly full again even if it isn’t exactly for the right reasons.
As for the usual suspects moaning about queues for drinks and turnstiles , I don’t know why you don’t just stay in bed .

Assume Starmer will want complimentary tickets, are any available? Why didn't we move the game to Wembley?

Also Wembley would be more convenient for Wrexham fans not having to trek across London.

Well not 4pm the afternoon for burger and beer! That's small cake and cup of tea time. 😉 Life is for living.

Again, it's not that and I struggle to see how people can't understand that it's all encompassing. It's not just about watching Charlton struggle for 90 minutes, it's not just about drinking pints, it's not just chatting about football. It's all of it.
If people want to watch 10 minutes of Charlton and chat to their mates for 30minutes, then so be it. No one has a monopoly on how others should enjoy their day at football. If you want to watch 90 minutes then do that, don't get "infuriated" when others'day at the football is different to yours.

How someone spends their time at football just shouldn't bother you, unless it directly impacts your day. I.e. they've gone for a toilet break but decided you are the toilet.

Happy the place is looking like 20k plus, let's hope we try and market games as much as have done for this one rather than it being a one off.
  • I’m allergic to people , so won’t be enjoying this one .
kids are back in town so I’ll have to pretend I’m up for a wanky league one piss shit house game

I think the parking will be a big issue next Saturday.
    Thanks for that 😂
For anyone with moderate mobility it’s been fine with crowds of 10-12,000-ish despite the restrictions. I think next Saturday will be completely different because the area south of the park will be overloaded, which will probably push people the wrong side of Shooters Hill Road. It’s an unknown scenario, because we’ve never had a 20,000 crowd with these restrictions and no one, certainly including the council, can know until it happens. I suspect a lot of people will be driving around looking for a spot after 2pm.
Greenwich Council will be rubbing their hands...just think of all the revenue those parking tickets will generate.

Looking forward to the game but this has a feel of ‘Operation Hollywood’ and we all know how these types of games pan out, don’t we!
  • It's Wrexham ffs...what's all the hype about some B list ponsey no hopper maybe turning up, so what, he couldn't give a flying fig who you are...calm down all you teeny autograph hunters, and watch the bloody game...🙄

If you can sleep, with all the excitement.
  • A near sell-out crowd. Some of you are undoubtedly going to end up with a kid behind you who spends the entire 90 minutes kicking the back of your seat.

    Enjoy!

Great posts on this thread from golfaddick.I can just picture him chuckling away at the number of people who bite on his bait.well done golfer.
I must say it has always struck me as weird that people (lots) are so keen the q up to get a drink at half time at a football match when they can get as many pints as they like down their necks as soon as the game finishes.what is so special about a pint at 3.45 that people are willing to go to such inconvenience to get it
The experience of a flat warm pint in a plastic cup, costing £6 a pint. You can’t get that in the local spoons!!!!
