Wrexham sell out ?

  • Are they now that big that they'll fill the ground with neutrals, just wanting to get a glimps of the owners or the famous Hungarian attacking midfielder, off the documentary?

They might have a big "virtual" following, but not sure that'll translate to bums on seats next week.

go on the website to buy a ticket and you’ll see it’s much fuller than normal. I don’t quite get the appeal either but it’s clearly there

I was told yesterday that the programme with be a special edition issue and increased to £5. It’s Wrexham FFS.
Unfortunately the Wrexham hate obsession has taken the shine of what should be a good day- a reminder that it’s Red,White & Black Day!!!!

The bumper programme/extended issue is to be for that- celebrating diversity and anti racism stances rather than the other side.
What better way to advertise and celebrate black white and red day by reducing the sale of the programme by having it priced ridiculously
  • There is only a 15 minute window to get served at half time if you want to watch every kick of the match. Those that go down to the bar early are doing a favour to those that wait for the half time whistle to go but still want to try and get a drink or something to eat. Heaven forbid that everybody waits for the whistle before jumping up and trying to get down the tunnels at the same time. They’d all be still queuing to get down there when the second half kicks off.
Can you not go 2 hours without a drink ?

Is it usual to eat something at 3.45 in the afternoon ? Most people eat lunch between 12 & 2 and have an evening meal between 6 & 8pm. Needing to have a burger & chips in the middle of the afternoon strikes me of bad meal planning.

I sympathise with those who have bladder issues & need to use the toilet regularly, but most people leaving the match between 3.40 & 4.10 are under 50 years of age.

I just wonder what they all do during the other 6 days of the week. No wonder why GDP growth in this country is in the doldrums as the workforce is constantly taking 30 min breaks during the day.
    Bet you're fun at parties
  • I tried to book my normal seat in the north upper G block and someone had taken it. Only a handful of seats left.

I know a couple of Arsenal fans that have got tickets in the AC stand too.
    F****ing glory hunters.
  • If more neutrals come and buy seats and enjoy the day then maybe they will start to come regularly and not just for Wrexham.  Maybe they'll even become fans...and that would be a good thing - surely?

Using that logic, I don’t need to go to a football match in the first place. But I work all bloody week, doing things that I do need to do, so I can do things I want to do at a weekend. If that means having a couple of pints a bite to eat at the football then I don’t think that’s a problem, and if you need to leave a couple of minutes before halftime to make sure you get served and back to your seat before the start of the second half then so be it.

I think one the advantages of nearly selling out for the Wrexham game are that the owners (who no doubt will be over) will have it confirmed that the valley can be sold out. That might lead to further investment to the squad and the infrastructure especially if they see the chaos caused by the queues etc for the shop, beer, fan zones etc., which will indicate wasted opportunity for extra income. Yes, there will be inconveniences for us season tickets holders, but these might lead to better things (or might not).
I’m not sure about that. They will probably conclude that Wrexham can sell The Valley out but Charlton can’t (without stardust opposition). The home crowd yesterday was particularly thin, despite the result against Birmingham.

The game is potentially worth a £300,000 windfall to Charlton, so I can see why they are promoting it. Next to that loading the programme price looks petty. It might be worth £5k, if they’re lucky; probably less.

I’m amazed people still buy any programmes at all.
They are probably more likely to buy at special occasion games, even now. Racking the price, as they already have this season, will kill it altogether.
  • Surely the majority of extra people coming at least have some interest in Charlton?

I can't believe that an extra 10-12k people are all coming just to see Wrexham. When i (rather sadly) looked on their site last week they hadn't even sold out the away end yet. Although i'm sure they will.

Great theory of course, however historically we always fuck these situations up...
  • When the away end is sold out, they normally restrict sales in home end (ie members/purchase history). Are they not doing that this time ?

Interesting, I presumed it would have done, when was the last time they played at The Valley ?

The ratio of big Charlton crowds to wins must be quite something. On a consistent basis we lose big interest games like this.

Depends what you define as a big crowd though. Our biggest crowd of the season so far saw us beat Birmingham.

Blows my mind people will moan that others want to watch our football club. Who cares if it’s their first game? Everyone has to start some time.
That's the point. You go to a football match the watch the match. Not to spend a third of it on the concourse supping a pint. If you want a drink stay in the fucking pub

Lost count the amount of times today that I had to let people in or out of my row whilst the match was going on. Not to mention the amount of people ambling up the stairs who then stop right in front of me blocking my view.

But no need to worry about me. I've got my ticket for next week but then I'm out.
A lot of people were caught out by th very reduced train service. Only half hourly from London Bridge. No trains between Dartford and Plumstead.
  • I can’t bear the thought of travelling down on the train for this one as they are bound to be full of Wrexham fans so I’m driving. Any suggestions on parking please ?

The simplest instruction is to park south of Charlton Road.
