I actually enjoyed the match thread today.
So many twists and turns whenever a goal was scored.
    Love it.
All the thrills and spills ,,,,, and spills of the Cup :)

  • Is Ahadme our new cheat code?
He’s the big bad boss that you get towards the end of the game.
  • Thank you all for the updates and humour (gallows admittedly) throughout the thread.

I dream of a time when we can avoid such scares in cup competitions.

Cometh the hour cometh the Gasman...
There's a Flanders and Swann song about that...
Well it all makes work for the working man to do.
(I'll be impressed if anyone manages to turn it into a chant for him)

My legs have gone all trembley
We’re on our way to Wembley
La la la la……la la la la. 🥳🥳🥳
  • He should have come on before Hylton, and that's not just with hindsight.

For better or worse we've made a big investment in him, whereas Hylton is a stopgap solution.
To be fair Hylton was pretty decent on Tuesday so can see the logic
Hylton is good for bullying U21 kids, especially with pace around him (TC).

Nah, makes it more interesting...wouldn't be Charlton would it...
  • FA Cup need to sort out their streaming options though - I get it, they want fans in the stands... But Sport is evolving now, Netflix has come along, and the Footballing bodies are acting like Blockbuster

We all know it’s never easy being us ! It’s why we support the club we do !
No chance we should be letting 3 goals in to a NL club and I was fully expecting an embarrassing cup exit. But then up steps the Gasman and saves the day which might well be the thing that lights his season up !

now we have the excitement of waiting for our name to come out of the draw only to then have the despair when we draw some lowly northern team away

Ahadme had a bad chest injury, he s only been risked for 5 mins

If he's fit enough to make the bench, he can come on before the 117th minute.

    You never know.

    It would be glorious though.

I could happily enjoy a reworked version going through various different players.

NJ gone by Jan….FFS playing Hylton
Part of a reasonably long, but not entirely illustrious, Charlton tradition of taking early rounds of the Cup for granted, with inevitable egg on faces consequences, even if we sneak through.
But looking at the starting team you can hardly say we took it for granted.

Its just that the team is shit, the goalie is shit and the manager is shit. :-)
Yeah but apart from that ...
  • The removal of replays worked out well for us today, as instead of an unwanted replay we instead won in extra time.

  • Reminds me of the Dagenham  away win in the Cup all those years ago.  Shaun Newton’s winner in extra time. Lots of fuss about nothing. Never in doubt. 😂

Not my decision though, Nathan Jones won't listen to me :)

I'm in favour of "occasionally" going through it, but it's in danger of becoming part of our tradition, which would be fine if we could play the role of underdogs...

    Promote for Bedsaddick 👏🏻

Hopefully this may kick start Ahadme's cafc career as it's been a tough start.

Chuks generally comes on with 30 minutes to go, not 5 minutes of extra time.
