The manager has to go. What about Gary Rowett?
Seem to recall Millwall fans saying that his brand of Football wasnt much better

Gary was liked but they chose Nathan Jones
Both insisted they wanted full control
Gary would get us out of this division.  Efficient football.  I doubt it would be sparkling but then again Derby only played efficient football.

Efficient is a mile away from the shite we serve up.

  • What worries me is after watching the post match interviews with NJ and Godden, they both thought we played ok. I mean wtf?

Both mention playing well the last two games, as does coms asking them. We were utter shite against Burton, disgraceful performance.

Last night was disgraceful yet again. I’m down in London this weekend, thank god we are not at home.

  • Everything about the lead up to the game gave me the feeling of Garner’s last hurrah vs Cheltenham.
Crawley have an awful set of footballers apart from Kelly their CM (19) and Darcy (10) yet…

I don’t even want to go through it. Disappointed we’re here again. Genuinely believed NJ was a good appointment and wanted it before he was appointed, so I’m not going to point fingers at the board for getting it wrong.

    Next few weeks are crucial.

Made a Crawley side look like a Top 6 side last night and no offence to them but they will have a job to stay up this season

Jones has no clue what he is doing. Changed the formation start of the second half and within 15 minutes plays Godden in the same position in the first half where he was non existent

The last 2 league performances have been the worst I have seen in a long while and we are not going upwards under this Welshman as it currently stands

If he’s still here in January and then moans he’s not been given enough funds, then he’s only got himself to blame for bringing in a load of nonsense back in the summer. Why give him more to waste

  • It reminded me of the last days of Pardew’s (or another’s) tenure.

Disorganised mess with no belief in the manager
It's been like that for the last four managers. Will be like deja vu at Lincoln I think.
  • Understatement of the year from Jones: ‘We weren’t good enough.’ No shit, Sherlock!
  • Utterly dire. A year ago I'd have watched the post match with Curbs and Minto, but even that is gone. The team Jones has assembled look like some sort of bargain bucket where you get 10 anonymous footballers for the price of 1, but when you open the package, you find you've got 9 identical league 2 journeymen, plus Aneke.
I won't be renewing the club stream package next year. If the club don't care, I won't watch.
And what the fuck;happened to Leaburn? Anyone else turn in that performance and we'd be demanding he get moved on.
All in all, rotten night and my celebration whiskey when Kanu scored (great goal) turned into a hangover today.
    Fuck off Jones.
I'm hesitant to go too hard on him in case he's carrying an injury, but if not then Leaburn's effort levels last night were an utter disgrace.
  • I've genuinely just seen someone on twitter saying it may take a relegation to league2 to rebuild. I'm in fucking disbelief.

How on earth are there still people who find this acceptable, it's beyond my understanding. We have faced 3 of the 4 newly promoted sides at home and achieved 2 points out of a possible 9! We play the 4th of the lot next weekend, even if we manage to win that, it would be 5 of a possible 12. Incredibly shit return against newly promoted sides.

I'm done. I'm not going Lincoln, I had cancelled Christmas plans to go Northampton, I'll now be getting refunds for those tickets to attend my Christmas plans, and like fuck am I wasting my time and money on a team who don't give a shit travelling somewhere up north. Embarrassing that some of these are professionals. I've completely lost my passion for football less than 20 games in again.

I want to hear from these owners as soon as possible really, because they need to explain the lack of progress this season, and address how they intend to turn it around.

The Valley was at best around 30-40% full tonight? In the words of the great @oohaahmortimer we really are an absolute minge of a club.
30-40%, looked more like 25% to me, ignore what the bullshitters in the club tell you, that looked like 6-7k bums on seats

    Jones has to go.

Those saying what will that achieve I ask one question.

What is Nathan Jones giving us that any manager in this league wouldn't? What sets him apart? Why settle for second best?

He sold our one and only goal threat from last season and seemingly bragged about it after beating a team a division below in the cup

He committed to a formation in the summer which he now doesn't play and only left us with one first team winger

The only game where I've thought yeah he got that spot on was the Birmingham game. Then he proceeded to use that formation come what may even when it wasn't working

17 league games in and I don't believe he knows his best midfield or even his best team

He must know that if he mucks this up he'll be on the managerial scrap heap for a while as that's two jobs in a row he's messed up.

We need to find someone that wants to play football. NJ is basing our whole game plan on percentages. Hit it long get a flick on and 1 out of 5 will land to a forward to score. That is ancient football. We instantly look better with people out wide but he never starts them. Clueless or stubborn? Either way I've had enough. I wouldn't mind loosing if we played well I think the majority of us are the same

This sums it up very well. However, I’m reluctant for us to shift yet another manager and am hoping that last night inspires Jones to include some pace, width and creativity in the team and the names Small and T Campbell are in the starting line up on Saturday and thereafter. If he doesn’t change his ways after that tripe, chances are he never will and he may as well jog on.

One point to add to the post above is that, after Jones bragging about how great Godden has done (which I don’t disagree with), he promptly played him in midfield in a role that looked completely foreign to him. It also contributed to them scoring the second goal…..
  • If we don't sign some wide players in January i'm going to cry

  • Well, that was truly shocking. Having waited over a month since the last home league game I was eagerly looking forward to this. That performance has got to be one of the worst home performances for a very long time and that is down to one man: Please step forward Nathan Jones! The tactics were clear from the start - hoof it up to Leaburn and Ahadme and hope for something to happen. I see better football played in the local park. I know we don't have the greatest squad, but the players we have are better than having to resort to hoofball. I think Jones is taking the p***!
  • Sorry that was a poor performance, and after the first 15  minutes we lost control the game in my opinion. What I saw on TV was a resort to lunching the ball, and often giving it away. Crawley scored a decent goal, because we simply do not close them down, and has been a feature for most of this season.
I have no idea what has happened to Miles, he seemed to  have lost both his pace and touch, so the question I asked at the Trust AGM, was blanked by Abbott, under player  confidentiality, Personally I think Miles is our best prospect of being the forward that will assist and get goals in the present team, but his 'match fitness ' seems to be some time off to a me as a fan.?  The lad looks in great shape, but launching  balls to him, and expecting him to be our main attacking threat, did not work last night. Back to the drawing board manager?

It's the same it's been since the start of season.

We don't create good chances, we don't give up many chances either.

But if the other team sticks one in we are in trouble as we don't create chances.

Jones isn't very good. There's a squad capable of promotion imo, but we play a system which doesn't get the best out of our players.

Edit: I meant via playoffs not actual promotion through top two. I'm not insane.

Beige minge of a club, I believe was the (very apt) phrase.
  • Absolutely abysmal performance with an abysmal manager in charge. There is no pattern to anything we do it’s kick  and hope. The people in charge must be alarmed at what there seeing and the dwindling attendances. You can pick any row to sit in now not any seat. We were promised at the start of the season how everything will change and to get behind the new revolution. What a load of crap and Charlton fans have been hoodwinked again. if anybody thinks there will be money spent in January dream on. This team and manager are going nowhere it will stagnate and get more volatile as the season goes on.
We have some difficult games coming up and by the next home game with Mansfield we could be in the bottom four. So depressing I try to keep the faith but I don’t think I’ll be getting my Xmas present which is a decent side.  Bad  choices have been made but where Charlton go from here I’m not sure but things need to change quickly as attendances will fall away and the atmosphere will become more volatile. But the board are at fault it’s there mess to sort out. It just isn’t working under Jones you can see it a mile off. The new year will see a change one way or the other. But it’s no fun being a Charlton fan.

I actually think Jones makes Adahme look a worse player than he actually is. That’s how bad NJ is.
Baffling to sign a target man and not put crosses into the box.
More so signing a target man & then not signing wingers who can cross.

I've read Jones's comments & they don't address the real issue. We just dont play with players who can create anything. Be that wingers or creative midfielders. It doesn't matter if the opposition score from 18 yards (not 20 or 25 as Jones mentions- the player was on the edge on the EIGHTEEN YARD LINE) if all we are going to do to try to score is pump aimless diagonal balls to a forward playing out wide.

I say it time & time again......coaching badges are worth shite.
Yet he could have started with TC on one wing and Small on the other and just had 2 up front one of Leaburn or Ahadme (not both) alongside Godden and gone for it we're at home against one of the bottom places teams FFS but Jones decides to play with no width whatsoever and just lob hopeful balls forward and play Godden in a withdrawn midfield role where we don't play to his strengths. Jones chooses the team and the "tactics" and he has proved himself over and over again that he is fucking useless and I doubt the players are going to take too kindly to his childish moody outbursts and blaming the players when we lose.
  • Can't comprehend how a team that looked so good on Saturday turns into a bunch of useless, quivering wrecks 3 days later .. played off the park, outwitted and outfought by Crawley .. anyway, well done Rob Elliot who must be shaking his head in disbelief at what is the  dishevelled state of his first club as a professional .. too early to say Eliot for manager ?
