We are supporters and not party to the workings and discussions in the club. I do not think any Chairman and SMT want their company to fail, they just might not be any good and not have the product to succeed. I would hope that CM sits with NJ and finds out what is wrong. We cannot doubt that NJ knows what is needed for success ( he has done it before) so he must know what is currently happening is failing. sounds simple but not easy.
How much of that success was down to him though?
So if he succeeds it's down to someone else, and if he fails it's down to him eh...Mmmm🤔...
The event for Kevin Nolan was a disgrace. Those who run the club, fuck off.
What was the event Seth?
Oh man it saddens me in the extreme to mention it. There was an (understandably) half hearted appeal from Brian Cole, just before the crossbar challenge for some applause for Kevin Nolan whilst his picture was put up on the screen. I would bet my life somebody somewhere decided that is what we should do, and told poor old Brian Cole to do it. I could tell BC hated it as much as the rest of us, well those of us not half timing for a piss or a pie, and I would also bet that whoever made the decision wasn't even out of the boardroom to see it anyway. I am sorry Kevin. As a long time fan I dearly wanted the chance to pay a decent tribute to you at the Valley, if not today then soon. I even expected black armbands on the players today. I don't suppose a long time fan of Oxford United gives much of a damn about our club.
It was shocking. The directors box was completely empty when it happened.
Just compare the difference to the last league home game when we had a minutes applause for Herman Ouseley. Someone with no direct link to the club, and who had passed away at the start of October and we had had 2 home games since his passing.
Same when matthew harding died, there was a minutes silence for someone who had no connection to the club & probably been more since.
And as an 'International Addick' I'm expected to ante up dosh to bear witness to this rubbish, week in and week out. No way. I'm more than pleased to do so when ñ
I think the overreactions of NJ pitchside could have a great unsettling affect on the players.
They have all got the gitters and rush at everything. There is no sense of calm in their play, and there is no one out there who can just put his foot on the ball and take control. The absence of a commanding captain to influence the play on the pitch has been a weakness for years now.
Many have said that the players have the ability to do well in this league (they have already proven this with a few strong results), but the unsettling? influence of Jones on the sidelines during play, I feel sure, does not help to bring out the best. (IMO).
Visiting managers tend to present a more professional image (in the main), while our manager now attracts regular cards. If Jones could keep his cool and save his reactions until the halftime talk, then maybe the players can perform more to their strengths during play? At present, everything is so intense and rushed.
Jones is an intense individual and probably cannot change, but he must find a way to introduce a more confident set of players who can deliver a better and more consistent performance on match days.
He has the knowledge, and I do not want to see another change of manager, but this poor level of performances on the pitch has to change now before we plunge lower in the league and get entangled in a relegation fight.
Ha, this makes me laugh.
When we had Appleton everyone was moaning that he just sat there unanimated. Now we have the mega animated guy. Both managers have got crap results. When will people realise that the manager is not the major problem?
I’m curious now to know who people would prefer? Can we hold a vote between MA and NJ?
Would you vote NJ but still want him sacked?
Yes
So why would you vote NJ when our record after the same number of games this season is worse than last season under MA, AND the style of football is worse?

Not necessarily.
And I didn’t say his failures were down to him, I was merely asking a question.
And the next question for you is, how long would you keep him, if our form continues at this level?

James..., It was just an observation, not a go at your post, but it does seem to be the consensus that we need to replace him asap, which has been the way of thinking for some time, now, I am not his greatest fan, or critic, but this constant thing of replacing a manager at the drop of a hat is getting the norm now. I don't know James, I am as exasperated as the next one of us with our performances of late, but we are not going anywhere this season, up or down, so leave it till close season I suppose, what will be gained apart from more destabilization by getting rid mid season...but what does anyone really know...
im hearing that some players dont get on and there is a bit of divide in the camp this needs to be sorted out PDQ
Funny you should say that. I was contemplating the next day what I'd seen between our team. When something fucked up, certainly in the last half hour or so, there seemed to be much more than usual an element of our own players having a go at each other. Not just the usual "hands in the air-why didn't you pass it" type thing, but what looked like proper verbals and real anger. Worrying.

Who selected 3 centre/Central forwards with no pace for the 2nd time ? Jones.
Who pushed for the Luton players ? Jones.
On one occasion in the first half A.Campbell played a ball forward and the defender got there before Miles. Daniel, Tyreece or Thierry have the pace in the 1st few yards to get their first.
Kanu, T. Campbell or Small playing wide or wider could've made a difference from the start with say Godden and perm one from Leaburn/Ahadme as the other striker.
Leaburn does have potential but only as a central striker with legs around him. Whether a promised move before his last injury is affecting Miles or just the poor tactics from Nathan possibly but he is looking a shadow of his best form, which I hope isn't the result of his 3 setback injuries over two seasons.
What is happening with Dixon ? I have said I wouldn't expect him to be getting much game time this season but bloody hell surely we could stick him on the bench to come on late on if we were chasing the game ( when aren't we?)
Why when May was going for top scorer did he sub him or drop him last season. Was he just trying to be a git?
I've mentioned this before, can't remember the opponents but Alfie had scored two & was buzzing about making a nuisance of himself & it seemed only a matter of time before he got his hat-trick, until of course Jones subbed him. Obviously didn't want Alfie to get the headlines. I think he's trying to be Brian Clough but without the knowledge, skill or humour.

No doubt in my mind that Jones wants to be top dog and is prepared to do most things to stop anybody else being seen as number one.
Really do think he is damaging the brand now, he must go and go very soon.
It's groundhog day, 2 years to the day almost since Garner and that Cheltenham stinker, 2 managers later and we are in the exact same situation.
Something fundamentally has to change, it has to be from the very top, the SMT has failed, was it Andy Scott who said grade me on results?
Well it's a big fat U, ungradeable.....no Charlton team should be getting outplayed at home by a poor Crawley Town side, no Charlton side should be playing kick and hope football.
We are a dreadful team and a miserable club....floundering at the lowest level in our history for 5 years.
Does it get worse? Do we have to mobilise as a fan base to get rid of more chancers?
Andy Scotta exact quote which came after the sacking of Holden and before we had our worst finish in 98 years, was...
"That’s my job now, to make sure we have the strong foundation built to get promoted and stay in the Championship and progress even further, challenge at the top of that.
We don’t want this to be a waste of a season. We want this to be a successful season. We felt making the decision when we did left Michael with plenty of games to be successful with a group we feel is a strong one in this league.
We can at least challenge at the top end of the league where we feel we should be with the squad we’ve put together.
“I will hold my hands up if something goes wrong. I don’t expect to get plaudits. I don’t want to be front and centre – doing interviews. I want to do my job and be judged on how the club performs.

Why aren't we winning Nath ? Well it doesn't happen overnight Chas, I'm building a squad that will take us up & grow together. But Nath how long will it take, aren't all those ex Luton players a bit old to be growing together ? No, we'll be ok, I'm moulding a squad. Look nath, me & my mates are on easy street here & getting a bloody decent wage for doing fuck all except the occasional sound bite, don't fuck it up for all of us. Ok chas how about we sack Curtis & tell the yanks that he hasn't done the business on the grass ? That's brilliant nath, they won't have a fucking clue what we're talking about & we should be ok for another year. Thanks chas ...................... can I have a pay rise oh & I want to sign Mick Harford to replace Leaburn.
Today is pre match interview day. The person shoved out as the public face of the club today will be Nathan Jones. The problem is it is likely he will be interviewed by a person or people who are constrained from asking him repeated and searching questions. Nathan Jones always gives the impression that he dislikes the interviews (he is impressively articulate most of the time though) and it is somehow doing the fans a big favour. Yet the club emails and advertises for support and half season tickets and whatever. The dynamic is ‘give us undying loyal support’ even ‘get onboard with this journey’ whilst at the same time not giving a damn about the support in any meaningful way. If Nathan Jones is the only face of the club then he should be asked the very challenging questions until someone else faces us. If that means he is reduced to denying responsibilities then he can say so, if that means he blames another individual(s) at the club then he should say so. The crap results, crap communications about things that matter to fans like knowing about streams, or ticket availability, or times, the crap infrastructure like even having turnstiles open, and for me most recently the appalling event for dear Kevin Nolan…and more. If Jones is the only public facing person put out there, then he can take the heat if there are interviewers with the cojones to ask very hard questions about everything going on. Maybe they are all the same as Burger Boy where his default position was ‘if you don’t like it, eff off, and don’t come back’. Jones reaction about the fans after Tuesday was terrible, and it is clear to me that our Oxford United devotee as CEO sees the fans as distant ballast for his weird ambitions.
His only ambition as far as we are concerned is a monthly wage
