  • What’s happened to this high energy etc? It’s too easy to play through us and around us. Lazy. AMB is a shocking goalkeeper.
  • I wonder what NJ's performance targets are for the season. If the owners don't think he is meeting them, what is being done? I reckon there will be consideration to a panic session in January.

    1) He starts to turn it around over the next 3 weeks and gets the money and permission to continue with the rebuild.

    2) He shows no sign of an upturn in performance and results and gets the boot by 1st week of January, and a new manager has the say in yet another overhaul. The problem being yet again, how the hell do we offload more crap  players than we had before?

I've slept on it.  I'm still furious.

    Dreadful, slow, no creativity.
Alan Campbell is not fit to wear the shirt.  Any shirt.  I don't even want him handing out sandwiches - he'd be late for that as he is late for every tackle.

Possibly my lowest point ever as an Addick.  I fucking hate every single one of them right now.
    Long ball nonsense.
Alan Campbell is getting decent marks on the player marks thread which surprises me. He was absolutely atrocious.
He was probably our best player first half which obviously isn't saying much. I don't rate him at all but not sure why he's getting dug out over others for this one, unless it's just easier to bash a Luton loanee.
I think it’s because he’s Jones’ man, if Hylton had been in the squad and come on then I’m sure he would have got similar treatment

Think it’s also because he should be our best player, a couple of years ago he was a big part of a team that got promoted to the prem, and when we signed him we described him as a championship player. But he’s looked average at best, and even that’s being very generous

I agree,  Campbell's performance was riddled with error, but was still better than the other midfielders. What a state we are in.
  • Can't comprehend how a team that looked so good on Saturday turns into a bunch of useless, quivering wrecks 3 days later .. played off the park, outwitted and outfought by Crawley .. anyway, well done Rob Elliot who must be shaking his head in disbelief at what is the  dishevelled state of his first club as a professional .. too early to say Eliot for manager ?
We have looked good against all the league two and national league sides, that’s our level

I disagree. We are at our level. As Curbs used to say, "The league table doesn't lie!"

We are a consistently average League One side, with a proven track record of being mid-table over multiple seasons. No better, no worse. We will stay at this level until someone changes all that we have been doing up to now.

Einstein said," Insanity, is to keep doing the same thing and to expect a different result!"

I my book that makes Jones insane!!!

Should have been written into his contract. X position after y games otherwise your gone with no compensation. Certainly being 4 points off the relegation places after 17 matches is unacceptable. So pressing the button shouldn't come at a price to the club.

  • I can't move on from last night, it's like a reoccurring nightmare...looking back at the 'highlights' (should that be lowlights!), we couldn't even pass the ball to each other! It was fucking 'kick and rush'!
The plot has been well and truly lost!!
I totally agree with you. Nobody is perfect; sometimes, an easy pass is missed, even at the highest level. Consistently making simple mistakes when passing the ball as a professional footballer is not acceptable, and that was fairly evident throughout the 90 minutes yesterday. Something needs to be done about it soon. Jones is clearly here for at least one more game. Unless we get absolutely battered by Lincoln on Saturday, he won't be fired after that game. If he loses to Mansfield on the 14th, then I think it could be curtains for him.

I also think that the footballing side of the SMT will be holding off on sacking him to cover their own asses. This is their 3rd appointment, I think, so it will reflect poorly on them if Jones does go.

'Allan Campbell was excellent around the pitch, how he got us on the ball'.  Nathan Jones thinks the opposite!!
  • I've genuinely just seen someone on twitter saying it may take a relegation to league2 to rebuild. I'm in fucking disbelief.

How on earth are there still people who find this acceptable, it's beyond my understanding. We have faced 3 of the 4 newly promoted sides at home and achieved 2 points out of a possible 9! We play the 4th of the lot next weekend, even if we manage to win that, it would be 5 of a possible 12. Incredibly shit return against newly promoted sides.

I'm done. I'm not going Lincoln, I had cancelled Christmas plans to go Northampton, I'll now be getting refunds for those tickets to attend my Christmas plans, and like fuck am I wasting my time and money on a team who don't give a shit travelling somewhere up north. Embarrassing that some of these are professionals. I've completely lost my passion for football less than 20 games in again.

I want to hear from these owners as soon as possible really, because they need to explain the lack of progress this season, and address how they intend to turn it around.

The Valley was at best around 30-40% full tonight? In the words of the great @oohaahmortimer we really are an absolute minge of a club.
30-40%, looked more like 25% to me, ignore what the bullshitters in the club tell you, that looked like 6-7k bums on seats
Took this from my seat in West Upper. Be surprised if there was 7,000 in the ground.  Crawley brought what, 600? Depressing night all round.
Was worse than that mate as some of those groups opposite in the East were freebies
It's a new government scheme to reduce prison overcrowding. Minor offenders are released early, but as an alternative punishment have to watch Charlton instead.

    Amnesty International have protested.
Another government scheme down the pan........ the minor offenders have all asked to go back to prison
Too right. Can you imagine what the Human Rights Act lawyers would do after them being made to watch Charlton for another 6 months. This time next year (Rodney) they'd all be millionaires!

Never a 1000 in the East Stand, so having seen photos of the other two stands you're pretty much right.

I actually thought Campbell was our most hard working player in the first half and probably the only one on the pitch that look like he wanted to battle. That to me shows what the rest of the team were like.

Leaburn, Edwards shocking. Godden invisible. Taylor, Cov, Gas poor
He does work hard, he's just not very good! Re Godden, we came back from a halftime pint and were trying to work out what changes had been made. I was like "ah, godden's come on, for leaburn maybe?" My mate then had to remind me he'd actually started the game! I mean that says it all really haha!
He didn’t work hard last night . He barely broke a sweat . He didn’t run . He didn’t jump off the ground for headers and he looked overweight and uninterested.
    Something isn’t right there .
  • Sorry that was a poor performance, and after the first 15  minutes we lost control the game in my opinion. What I saw on TV was a resort to lunching the ball, and often giving it away. Crawley scored a decent goal, because we simply do not close them down, and has been a feature for most of this season.
I have no idea what has happened to Miles, he seemed to  have lost both his pace and touch, so the question I asked at the Trust AGM, was blanked by Abbott, under player  confidentiality, Personally I think Miles is our best prospect of being the forward that will assist and get goals in the present team, but his 'match fitness ' seems to be some time off to a me as a fan.?  The lad looks in great shape, but launching  balls to him, and expecting him to be our main attacking threat, did not work last night. Back to the drawing board manager?
Miles was way off it yesterday, but to me he looks very top heavy. Just seems to have lost a bit of pace and is too big. Maybe it's match fitness, I dunno? Reminds me of Joe Gomez at Liverpool. He was injured and spent a lot of time working on his upper body while. Klopp told him to cut it out and said something funny like "you only need muscles like this for the beach, not the football pitch"!

    Maybe 5,000 home fans?
  • What I don't get is the issue with us offensively ought to at least warrant an attempt to fix it. We are too easy to defend against, especially when teams are not open against us. Yesterday there was no width or pace up front. We did have width and pace on the bench. Trying to address an issue that is as clear as day may not be successful but not trying is too concerning for me to continue to support Jones keeping his job. Yesterday was the straw that broke the camel's back for me.
  • He is just another in a continuous line of incompetents.
  • Miles was really up for it Huddersfield, geeing up the away end and getting abuse from the home fans, he was very much our talisman on the pitch

So the two limp performances that have followed this are mysterious.
Mysterious indeed, his body language last night looked like a player pissed off, probably through the lack of service or support, I have noticed that he's overplaying but I think that is down to the lack of options around him.

He also managed to virtually tackle one of our own for the ball and came away with it. I think it was Taylor, who looked mighty surprised when he took the ball from his foot.
