Obviously very happy with that result as I was after beating Birmingham, but to much shit In between these 2 games to get excited, hope this is the new start?

Jesus, nothing to complain about…
Nathan out 😉
Great performance from the lads today, just what was needed, hopefully we carry the confidence into the next two home games0 -
We scored 5? It's a Christmas miracle!
Hope this result is the start of a proper turnaround0 -

If we can keep today’s levels in the final third going, then we’ll start winning a lot of games very quickly.Glad to see more people coming around to the same realisation now we’ve got a big win.
I thought most of us saw that.7 -
My two favourite teams both scored five today.
(Those two being Charlton and whoever-Palace-are-playing).30 -

This is a crrrrrraaaaaazzzy football day. The town where I live in France managed to almost equalise in the last minute against Brest in front of 7500 fans and meanwhile I kept getting updates of Charlton goals. But most amazing of all Marcus Leaburn scored. Just imagine what he can do when his brother comes back into the team. My god, Christmas is getting exciting again.5

Let’s hope the squad stays fit sick and we can string a run of good performances like that.

A great team performance and as I said on the match thread....today were we the best version of ourselves? Yes I believe we were, now long may this continue!!1 -
Amazing what happens when you score first. More so if you score a quick 2nd.5

Surely the players will take confidence in that performance? Passing and moving is the way ahead in this league, playing hoofball just plays into the hands of less able teams. It’s no coincidence that the likes of Doc and Berry looked like the players we thought we signed and what a massive difference playing with width makes !!! NJ did look like he has the hump about the stick fans have dished out but if he has changed tactics due to fan pressure he should be thanking us for saving his job because the boring shit was only going one way8

I thought 0-0 and I was half right.Much more positive approach to the game with more energy from the players.Well Done.4

Docherty's 2nd was a great goal and I loved that bit of skill from Anderson to play Mitchell in to cross for Hylton and the weight of pass from Leaburn to Campbell was also sublime. We need to follow up on this because we saw levels from us today that you don't see from League One sides.6

DOUCHER said:Covered End said:I'm going to say well done to the fans, the journalists and Gavin Carter who I'm presuming finally got the message through to Nathan Jones that hoof ball is not acceptable unless it was successful.
I think most fans thought in this very poor league that Charlton were under performing and the main reasons were down to hoofing the ball, with no forward passing through the midfield and no width to create space.
It appears Nathan Jones has been told he must change the style/tactics and has relented.
Anyway, let's just hope it's the turning of the corner and at the very least we can watch some decent football for the rest of the season.0 -

Back on topic, this win will send out a big message........
..... to the owners that we don't need any January reinforcements. Hope I'm wrong!!2 -
PWR.
Not much to say other than a great result but we need some consistency now!

Only four points from the play-offs, a promotion surge looms.
Still a long long way to go & just shows how shit this league is. I was looking at the league table on the BBC at kick off where it shows the last 6 games played. A whole bunch of teams from 8th downwards were showing more red (loss) than green (win). So many teams are bang average & only the top 4 are winning consistently.
A half decent run could see us in the mix come Feb.1 -
Bailey said:It's a good day, we need more like this though and more consistency from players such as Docherty and Berry, both were outstanding today, and with Coventry, ran the show. Perhaps this formation suits them, if so then the fans who have called for width within the side have been proved correct, Small and Campbell give us that width and even if there final ball can sometimes be erratic, defences do not like facing their pace. When you consider our recent form then to be in the position we are is an indication of this leagues weakness, that said, win the next three and I might start believing.3
