That's a spinner.  Jacks take note. Or should that be England selector's take note.
We don't have a spinner of Lyon's calibre. Not even close. We haven't had one in over a decade.
He’s still not anywhere near the level of Lyon, but surely Rehan Ahmed was worth a place in the squad. Great red ball season with bat & ball
He was meant to be the spare spinner I think but then got injured with the Lions
Oh is he injured? Fair enough
He isn't injured. He's playing in the Big Bash - bowled one over in his first game on Tuesday and scored 2 batting at 6. He only actually took 23 CC wickets last season which is more a reflection of the time of year we're playing red ball matches.

I’m not having that the Lyon ball to Duckett is a jaffer. He half heartedly prods at it with a bat that doesn’t even come down straight

Yeah he didn’t bang the door down with the ball but he can bat and is at least a genuine spinner. Failing that just pick his brother!

Shows how much attention I pay to the BBL!

If we go 3-0 down here we still can use the 150th anniversary test to level it 3-3 😂

Just blow this absolute shit show up.

Scott Fucking Boland looked more solid on this road than our top order.

Feel for all the fans out there - this performance is an insult to the money they’ve spent.
To be fair,  Boland didn't have to face his own team's bowling.

If our batsmen were able to face a lot of the short and wide rubbish we bowled yesterday,  we'd be 80-0  at lunch.

I just want to see a team I support win a game. The 4th November was the last time that happened 😂

edit: sorry I forgot England’s glorious wins vs Albania & Serbia

We seem to be playing Jacks because he can bat......not because he can spin the ball.

Moe square pegs in round holes.

    Root gone.

    England 71/4.

Could we be bowling again before close of play ?

Shame really, was looking forward to the boxing day test to be able to have a couple all nighters watching it. No point now. How is anyone going to get up for it after 0-3 down

    132/5 at tea.

Stokes is at least digging in, his SR is only 25. If he goes early after tea then i doubt our innings even makes it to the end of the day.

Crawley and Pope fail what a surprise. We also bowled appallingly, apart from Archer. Too many hit me balls. We have been an absolute disgrace on this tour. I think we need a root and branch change. Time for Bazball and McCullam to go, Key can go as well. At least Stokes is showing a bit of fight. Langer describes this pitch as a road.

Think that session is proof enough for me, if multiple back to back tours trying different things and failing wasn’t, that Australia are just a better side. And the ECB need to think long and hard about how to fix this.

Root, Brook and Stokes all dug in in that session - supposedly the best session for batting that there’s likely to be in this Test.

The three of them scored less than 80 during it. Yet both Root and Brook both got one with their name on it and they’re back in the pavilion anyway.

Getting rid of Key and McCullum and selecting 3-5 different players would feel like rearranging deck chairs and I’m fully expecting the same result in four years, regardless of what is or isn’t changed.

This is the type of problem that takes a generation to fix.

Gotta laugh at how long they kept looking at Snicko for a ‘catch’ that clearly bounced in front of Khawaja. Shock horror, snicko still didn’t work properly.

Just cannot trust a single thing that snicko is saying.

    What an absolute farce.

Snicko is a complete joke. Stokes and Smith are fuming

This is ridiculous. Another wicket when there is no conclusive proof of an edge.

If I was Stokes I'd walk off.

So....who reviewed that decision ?  Neither side did. So why is the 3rd umpire getting involved.

Didnt even realise that the umpires gave the Aussies a free review too hahah.

Were absolutely shit but it feels we’re playing against the odds here too. So poor.

Umpire review for a fair catch - fairly typical.

I may be wrong, but wouldn’t the umpire have had to signal ‘Out’ for this to be the case?

We didn’t see a signal but he may have given a soft signal to the 3rd umpire?
