Apparently the Snicko company are taking responsibility:

Amazing how all these issues seem to be benefitting the Aussies.
Not to worry though, they assure us it won't happen again...

This bowling attack cannot bowl consistent spells of pressure. Batsmen know if they are ever put under the pump it really won't be for long.
And what were we thinking bowling Jacks for as many overs as we did?

Never mind all that I suppose. We'll just smash them to bits when we have bat In hand.
McCullum showing the kind of tactical prowess akin to Karel Fraeye!

England losing a review for a blatant error by the Snicko operator makes this even more ridiculous. At least we should have the review back.
I think they should suspend using "snicko". It has shown to be unreliable with "spikes" not matching audio. It was clear as day that Carey got a touch on that ball.....where else did the noise (and there "spike") come from ? Ball was nowhere near his pads or body.

    Absolute joke.

Looks like Fox have rolled there own tech on this, where Sky and others have got Hawkeye in to run the system properly

Rumours that Steve Smith is ill and is going to miss the Test. They've all come from Australians though by all accounts.
He's suffering from 'I should still be captain itis'
  • How many was Carey on when he nicked it?

70 odd but with a new batter at the other end

As with VAR, the 'Snickogate' controversy shows that reliance on technology, the 'computer says no' syndrome is still far from satisfactory.
If memory serves this is not the first instance of 'snickoitis' in this series. Wasn't there an issue with a Crawley dismissal ?  (or not lol)

This one is human error though rather than just the frames not lining up. It should have been so obvious to spot

  • what's the best option for extended (60min?) highlights? Found a couple of shorter 15min highlights packages...but can't seem to find anything more substantial.

They were using TNT's "special" feed. The one that tells you what's happened in advance of the action.

How have they been allowed to do this? surely one of the bodies must decide?

Re Snickogate, I've never seen that kind of sound profile (extended multi-part noise) for a simple thin nick. I'm really not sure the sound was bat on ball

The TV broadcaster provides everything for DRS, Fox have a deal with Snicko while most of the rest of the world use Ultra Edge. There were issues with it when they hosted India last year too

Use of ultra edge should be compulsory - it is a far better system.

Glen McGrath on 5Live Xtra, was convinced that there was a 'big gap' twixt bat and ball .. but he would say that wouldn't he (t b fair, though a true blue, he generally tells it like it is)

Carey said he knew he hit it and the company behind "snicko" have admitted they used the wrong audio feed (stump mics from the bowler's end instead of the mics at the batter's end).

Carey admitted that he thought he had actually made contact and edged the delivery, meaning he should have been out. Sky News.

With Carey later admitting he thought he had hit the ball... Guardian

BBG Sports, the company which owns Snicko, have since publicly apologised for what they have admitted was a technical error. 'Given that Alex Carey admitted he had hit the ball in question, the only conclusion that can be drawn from this is that the Snicko operator at the time must have selected the incorrect stump mic for audio processing,' a statement read.  Mail Online

Carey went to make a vital hundred and another 76 runs were added to Australia’s total of 326 for eight before he was finally dismissed. He later suggested there was “a bit a feather” Press Association

Speaking after the first day’s action, he admitted that he thought he had got a “feather” on the ball. Sun

Swann and Prior are a painful duo.
    So is Finn.
  • When we come to bat, we have to bat and bat and bat. Keep the Aussie bowlers out there under the baking sun.

The one thing we DON'T need to do, is score at a breakneck pitch and get out before the close of play. Our bowlers desperately need the day off, once we've taken the last 2 wickets.

Four boundaries for Starc in the first two overs takes him to 50*. He is not only the leading wicket taker in this Series but he now has the best batting average too.

Reckon they'll put another 60 or 70 on.

We'll be all out for 150-170

We have a bowler who is great at mopping up the tail and he doesn't have the ball in hand, it's poor captaining
