    If we beat Stockport and Wycombe drop points this week then I think it’s on. We would probably need to beat Wycombe and Wrexham away or at least get 4 points from those 2 games at the end of the season
    Not a great time to be playing Posh either, they seem to have steadied the ship somewhat

    There would be an irony in us finally killing off Ian Evatt by beating them away and then getting done by the replacement manager at the end of the season

    Manager of the month should be the nutter who is Nathan Jones, he's currently the best version of himself. But no, the curse, give it to someone else.  Addicks Wembley bound btw, as a minimum, unless we suffer a raft of injuries.

    Could be an advantage for us to postpone our game against them until later in the season. They might be safe by then and be a lot easier to play against

    Biggest concern for the run in is the lack of depth in a few key positions, especially lacking decent cover for TC, Edwards and Coventry. Jones and Ramsay also key players and we saw what happened to the team when these two had injuries earlier in the season. Keep these 5 fit and we look well placed for play-offs

    I honestly think we could get as many as 32 points from this run in. There are only 3 games where I think we will drop points. I don't want play offs, honestly right now all I want is automatics and I honestly think we are capable of achieving them if they can continue this incredible purple patch were having. 10 wins, 2 draws, 1 loss in the next 13, between 87 and 91 points is what i think we will finish on. Only games i see us dropping points are Huddersfield, Wrexham and Wycombe, 1 loss out of those and 2 draws. I f*cking hope I'm right!

    15th March is looking very interesting for teams sitting 2nd to 7th.

    Wycombe v Wrexham
    Bolton v Stockport
    Charlton v Wigan

    At least a couple of our promotion rivals will drop points eight days from now. We must take advantage of the opportunity.

    I honestly believe Bolton are our biggest threat now

    Opta says 44.28% chance of finishing in the top 6. I would guess a win on Saturday would flip us above orient and give us an above 50% chance
    After yesterday

    Charlton 44.28% -> 57.30% (autos 1.02% -> 2.48%)
    Orient 53.56% -> 28.48%

    After Barnsley, ahead of Stockport

    Charlton 57.3% -> 71.74% (autos 2.48% -> 3.82%)
    Barnsley 7.92% -> 4.20%

    Beware the ides of March. 15th March is my and my youngest's birthday - if things go well, it could be the day we get serious about assassinating Wycombe in 2nd place. It always feels wrong talking like this - like when you say something during a match that's going well and you think saying it will make it go tits up - but, this is a football forum and will have no bearing on the matches - win tomorrow and anything is possible - COYR !!!!

    That two point gap between ourselves and Huddersfield is incredibly tight, but at least the target for 6th place is achievable. We need 18 points from 12.

    Worth revisiting on Tuesday night after teams have played their game in hand. And of course, we play Huddersfield at The Valley on the 29th.

    Last get past tomorrow & next tuesday before looking at the Wigan match. Tomorrow will be really tough & I'll be happy with a point. Then Tuesday night is our game in hand and could well be a banana skin. We have a habit of cocking it up against the weaker sides.

    Lets see where we are at the end of the month once we've played Huddersfield.

    Updated top 8. Orient in 9th and below are currently looking irrelevant to our aspirations.

    Midweek fixtures

    Crawley v Charlton
    Bristol Rovers v Bolton
    Reading v Wrexham

    Reading v Wrexham will be an interesting follow with an almost “no lose” scenario for ourselves and Bolton.

    Either Reading win and we can gain on Wrexham. Or Wrexham win and Reading start looking cut drift. Or it’s a draw and both can happen to a lesser degree.

    Think if Reading don't beat Wrexham Tuesday they could be pretty much out of it as well

    6 point difference with Wrexham and Wycombe again over the next 10 and we’d have to be favourites to nip in for 2nd

    Running out of games though. That would leave us two points behind going into the last day of the season where we’d have to win and hope they both lose because of goal difference.

    Wycombe have Stockport and Wrexham have Lincoln while we have Burton, think results there could go our way. Obviously you’d want to get there quicker and playing them both helps

    Although goal difference could be better than them.

    I think the poor run in autumn has left us too much to do but it's good to have it to aim for even if it just leaves us safely in the playoffs in May.

    Can take a positive out of any of the possible results.

    We would have to win 7-8 of those games at a decent clip to overhaul the gap that’s already there, if we’re expecting those sides to also maintain decent form.

    It will be an exciting run in it’s all to play for. I wouldn’t rule out Bolton getting 2nd they look to be on a great run

    Just posted my thoughts on the Post match thread.

    I reckon Orient & Barnsley have gone & agree it looking like the top 8. I notice that Huddersfield dont seem to be playing on the weekend of the International break......which is the week before we play them. Might be a good idea that we dont play Peterborough that's weekend either. Both sides totally fresh for a big 6-pointer.  Like today it's a must not lose match & like today it's the home side that is more looking to win it. Might have a big bearing on who makes it into the play offs as I suspect Bolton will be there so it might come down to 3 teams (Us, Stockport & Huddersfield) fighting 2 places.

    78-80 points might be needed imo.

    I think there's just a bit too much to do for us to get second - I think the 10 game form table above slightly masks how big of a challenge it actually is - Wrexham or Wycombe (not even both just one of them) don't have to do a whole lot to better the points from the patchy last 10 games they have had - even 6 wins in 10 for one of them would be better - whereas we have to win 7 out of 10 (and draw a couple) just to maintain ours. For every point they do better than the relatively low 17 points from 10 we have to match that on top of what we have already done the last 10.
