If we get anything out of the game tomorrow it might be one where we get something late. They've had a lot of matches and done a lot of travelling recently, including playing with 10 men for a lot of the game on Tuesday. Their representative on Charlton Live this week was suggesting there's been some evidence if tiredness in their last couple of performances. We know how fit we are this season, the quality, energy, and physicality we can call on from the bench, and how many late goals we have scored. If we are a goal, or even two, down with 15 mins to go it'll be important for the players stay calm and don't fall into the same trap as the Birmingham game of trying to force it and giving silly fouls. Patience and belief in the process might be the match winners for us tomorrow.
Sometimes true wisdom isn’t appreciated until it’s too late. 😉
The gap is shrinking but I reckon 2nd will be a bridge too far, rather like it was in 2019. After today’s results Birmingham are definitely gone so it’s 5 from 9 teams from Wycombe in 2nd down to Barnsley in 10th to make up the second automatic spot and the playoffs. Off the back of that win today the next two games offer us another big opportunity to cement our place as one of the favourites to finish in that group.
After the morning results, I genuinely thought there was an outside chance we could make top 2.
After 90 minutes, I thought it could be another wasted season as we finished just outside the play-offs.
After 90 +8 minutes, I wasn't sure what to think!
Actually, I now think play offs are pretty much nailed on at least. There I've said it - momentum is everything and we have it now.
And if results go our way in midweek, who knows. Wycombe are catchable and having seen a bit of the Wrexham game early on they are not unbeatable.
And can't believe I'm typing this after the Burton away game, the Crawley home game and the Orient game in the Mickey Mouse cup. 3 of the worst performances I have ever seen.
Those 6 minutes of added time could be season defining for both clubs.
If Orient had held on, they would have had a massive boost and kick started their season, whereas our players would have been really deflated before 2 more tough games against playoff rivals.
Instead, 3 defeats in a row and the blow to their confidence could kill their playoff hopes, whereas the sheer joy and positivity in our camp, is something money can't buy.
Barnsley is the next key game as it would be so us to do that today and then lose on Tuesday! If we get 3 points I really think we can get 2nd place as it would mean this team are breaking Charlton hoodoos
It’s all to play for. We’re not there yet and a lot can and will happen before the last game. I’d say we’re 60/40 now which before Christmas would have been a ridiculous thing to say. Absolutely nothing wrong with this team’s commitment and effort but I do wonder where that extra quality needed will be found. For me we still don’t look clinical enough in front of goal but if we make top six then who knows ?
This is the first time I’ve really believed, but trying to keep myself in check. Not long ago Orient seemed to be on an unstoppable run and then they lost three in a row. Also, I wasn’t there today, but it sounds like we weren’t great, especially in the second half. Can we really keep this run going for another 13 games?
I think that the top 2 chat is overly optimistic, but I think it’s sane and reasonable to predict 4th-6th. The bookies expect us to do it and though the cash out option on my start of season top 6 bet is getting healthier by the week, I’ll leave it.

We were the much better team in the first half, with better finishing we could have been 2 up at HT. Orient were better in the second but not by a great margin, we put the pressure back on in the final 10 mins and I think we were deserved winners in the end.
I've not included Barnsley now as don't see them making up the 9-point gap, but have added Wrexham as suddenly they've been pulled in (although expect them to grab 3 points against Mansfield later today).
Running away with most goals in the last 15 (and joint 3rd least). It’s an obvious game plan and long may it continue.
What would people put this down to? Is it our game plan? Are we just fitter than other sides? Is it because we don't have many injuries that we now have much better subs coming off the bench? Can't be many teams at this level who have subs like Leaburn and Aneke.
