Nothing wrong with that as long as it is genuine quality. Arguably our best player last season was a player from Harrogate and then undeniably a player who was fighting relegation with Cambridge before he signed for us. Both now ready to make the step up. I think it's a bit different, as we did win a few games last year where we did ok in midfield, and only a few others stood out for me in midfield as much as he did, but I see your point.
Fraser never really looked like a championship player, just lacked a few qualities. Erhahon is the opposite, has all the foundations of a championship midfielder, just hasn't had a chance to prove it.
It's a bit of a pipe dream signing anyway, but the type I hope we are making. You could build a championship ready team from all the top players in League 1, and their wages wouldn't cause much of a stir.3 -

For me it's the opposite, that's why I think he's a perfect fit. They are very similar statistically but have slight marginal differences. They would work very well together in a double pivot. I'm not totally sold on the concept as it risks giving up just a bit too much of the initiative/impetus for my personal liking... but I wouldn't be totally shocked if we ended up.trying something similar.

Know you said it’s a dream but I can’t see Keillor-Dunn or another attacking midfielder coming in now, I’m sure it’ll be for Carey and Berry to fight for that spot, with cover from the u21s.Braziliance said:

I can certainly see us playing with 2 holding midfielders much more next season, especially away from home at the better teams.2

I hope that isn't the case. Berry is regressing and Carey hasn't actually proved himself, just had one good spell in league 1. I am excited about him, but you could say with more confidence a player like Keillor-Dunn is more likely to bring his form to the league above because of the consistency across the season.Scoham said:

Need two real quality midfielders to compete, I'd only be ok with those options if we were a league 1 side still.2 -
Just wonder if it would be the same problem we had with Dobson and Coventry where they struggled to play together. I wouldn’t mind a double pivot if I knew the wingbacks had very good output but say it’s Ramsay and Edwards playing out wide they’re clearly better defending then going forward. If we play a double pivot in midfield I’d arguably want more attacking wingbacks, if we have more defensive minded wingbacks I’d arguably want a more forward thinking midfieldBraziliance said:

It wasn't just the Coventry-Dobson double pivot that looked poor. The Coventry-Taylor pairing was pretty unconvincing too.1

You're spot on about the balance. If you play a double your wide players need to be impactful or you're too defensive and vice versa.Crispywood said:

I think Erhahon is a better player than Dobson personally and has more qualities that will enable him to step up, ditto Coventry.
At risk of daggers as well, I wouldn't be against signing a new left wing back to compete with Edwards. For instance Doughty if the wages weren't a stumbling block.
For me it's just Jones and Ramsay I am 100% confident in the championship with. Coventry, Edwards, TC etc all fall into that bracket just below.
Anyway at risk of derailing, thought Erhahon was a name worth mentioning as he's affordable and it looks like Swansea might be out of the running, unless it's smoke and mirrors by one of their board members.2 -

I still expect another midfielder to come in, but one to compete with Docherty and to a lesser extent Coventry. I just don’t see us having 3 senior players competing for that single attacking midfielder spot.Braziliance said:

There's a big difference though between L1 where we are expected to win a majority of games, and the Championship next season where we will be going to Sheffield United or Southampton and hoping to keep things tight. If we get a 0-0 bore draw at Bramall Lane, that'll be a great result for us.Crispywood said:

Coventry famously can't play in a double pivot. He looked completely lost with Dobson there and similarly didn't like having Terry Taylor in his space. Jones teams aren't effective playing that way anyway, the press has to be as high as possible to offset the fact you've traded creativity for tenacity and aggression. A double pivot just creates a gap between attack and defence when the ball does turn over10

Unless TC turns from a winger/occasional striker and Leaburn rediscovers his speed, we need pace at WB or go 3-4-3 with wingers. A younger Godden got 1 in 3 at our new level. Should he be a starter?
Losing Small is a big blow.
I don't see Edwards as the LWB we need. Prefer him at LCB because MG is too slow at this level, or dump Macca and sign Famewo.
We need two pacy wide men. I'd prefer 3-4-3 as we already have Dixon in that format and Akiimwe as cover and Fullah coming through.
Karoy would suit that three up front so we'd just need a younger Chuks or a fit Miles or Mbick to step up in the middle.3 -

Karoy in a 3 up front did you not watch Lincoln at home he wouldn’t suit it. Also can’t rely on Asiimwe Dixon and Fullah to suddenly step up to championship level when they weren’t even playing at all in L1. He started 8 games for Kilmarnock. Not up to the level yet.
