So will we have an announcement today?  I predict not snd yhe angst levels of some will rise.
    Tomorrow
first day of the new financial year for clubs.

    nothing will happen today imo
Not sure when the cut off is, but if today still counts as 24/25 won’t it make more sense to pay fees under the L1 rules?

I think for accounts the fee is spread across the length of their contracts anyway, so I’m not convinced it makes much of a difference.
The club receiving the fee can put it all in at once though, if you’re Stockport then you’d want that £1.5m on July 1st rather than 30th June.

Not sure how it works though, as Stockport might be able to sell him today but put the money through in next seasons accounts rather than last

Stockport won’t be getting that. Just under half of that is coming to us remember 😉

Did he go to Stockport for any fee ?

Not sure tbh, probably wouldn’t have been a lot hence the large sell on clause.

    Yeah probably about right
  • Saw SkySports put out that QPR are getting Poku for £900k. Thought he was a free agent? Surely the compensation isn't that high?
  • With Millwall due such a big sell on surely there's scope for getting creative with the deal. The obvious trick would be to go in for more than one player from Stockport and then under and over inflate  their respective valuations. I'm sure it's the kind of thing that's been done to us in the past by other clubs.
Sneaky. I’m sure there would be rules to prevent this though. Every player will have a rough transfer value. If they deviated too far from that there would be some sort of tribunal

Could the defender be James Bree?
    Cue the cheese puns! 🧀
Could learn a lot about attacking set plays from Danny Stilton
    Edam well better!

Cawley put in his Substack he was originally solid for 150k and 50k in addons ,

I think that’s compensation because of his age.
  • I was once told by an RAF physical trainer that it takes a month to get a man fit.
I know our season finished late, and today and tomorrow will be punishingly and maybe dangerously hot, but reporting back next Monday only gives us five weeks to get sorted before the first game.
We rely on being super fit compared with other teams, I hope five weeks is long enough for us to be ready.

There was a bit of a bidding war which drives the comp up and encourages a club to say "we'll give you X amount more"

Do you think the players have been doing nothing since the end of May. They are probably all wearing Apple Watches, uploading the data to the club, were giving things like connected scales which will upload data to the club as well. No hiding at all
Yes, it's a different world from 30 years ago when players would spend the off season porking out, and waddle back into pre season training massively out of shape!

Think it's much more sophisticated than an Apple watch!

There used to be a magic saying, ‘run it off in training’. I am not sure if that applied to pizzas or pints.

Don't think it is to be honest, you see the players wearing them in training for more info, and the health data off a Series 9 or 10 is pretty extensive.
  • Won’t it just be those small black vests they wear, that they will wear in training and during a match?

Either way Rothko is right. They will all have their own personalised training plans that will be monitored during the off season.

Is that an average man from the street?

our players are professional athletes with high fitness levels. Some are posting their training sessions on social media, I don’t think fitness will be an issue.

The players will have been monitored and kept themselves in good shape over the break. It’s really not like the seventies when players boozed and smoked fags. Yes their overall fitness levels will have dropped a bit but not to the extent where five weeks of pre season won’t cut it.
  • We also have 3 players who played international football for Jamaica, so presumably they will start pre-season more gently to give them more of a rest

You would hope so. Anderson reported back at the same time last year which surprised me, you don't ever know what level of work they're doing though
