Summer 2025 Charlton Athletic Transfer Rumours

  • The lack of updates on Berry & Ramsey is genuinely making me anxious ha, I’d be gutted if either go
  • If Kelman gets 10 goals next season then that will have been a major success.
I think that would depend on how many minutes he played, and his overall contribution. After all Bonne in 19/20 got 11 in the Championship.
  • If we do get Kelman, where does this leave Ahadme?
Left back. In the changing room!

“Charlton is apparently aiming for a free transfer when Shinnosuke Fukuda's contract expires in January 2026, but I feel like they could just pay around 160 million yen.”

I don’t know if this Japanese Charlton fan has contacts or not but thought worth posting
To be honest, that is sensible if we can just find competent players for now.

A right wing back isn't going to completely define our season, especially when we have players already that can play there (Ramsay/JRC) and do a job.

800k is a dent in the transfer kitty and I would rather that go towards someone like Knibbs who really could be the difference.

When can we agree a contract in principal with him does anyone know?

Googling it says 6 months, so we could agree a deal soon.
  • If Charlie Kelman does put pen to paper and join Charlton, I genuinely think it could turn out to be a very shrewd piece of business. While it may take him 10–12 games to fully adapt to how Nathan Jones sets up his team, Kelman has all the tools to become a valuable attacking option.

Some of the doubt among fans seems to stem from the games he played against us, where admittedly he didn’t stand out. But context is everything. Last season, Lloyd Jones was an absolute rock at the back — arguably in the form of his life — and with Ramsey and Macca  even proven forwards struggled.

Only issue is, we will probably have more competition for him when his contract is up, that's the benefit of paying the fee to avoid the competition.

If we do land him on a free though and can manage until then, it would be sensible business.

    Exciting times.

Surely players in the last 6 months of their contract can be approached, maybe even sign a new pre-contract agreement? 🤔

Why couldn't the owners put this sort of money in place last season?

Would have made things a bit easier... ;)
Because they had to spend it on getting a structure in place and a foundation to build the club on and move forward after 12 years of neglect and assist stripping
Is that what you call selling CBT? I didn’t think you rated him.
Most overrated player ever to wear the shirt and once he refused to play in a cup tie in case it affected a move away that was that
Have asked you before and you never answered, please tell us all which cup tie this was?
  • Still need another CM imo. I’d be worried if Coventry got a long term injury.
I’m sure someone will be along to suggest that Terry Taylor (who wasn’t good enough for us in League One), or that someone like Bell or Zach Mitchell who aren’t defensive midfielders are good enough to cover Coventry in the Championship

Do enjoy seeing these kind of comments. So many expect us to spend nothing and go back to L1.

It’s most likely from the extra TV and gate money the club is/will get from moving from L1 to the Championship being channeled to strengthening the squad. Given Nathan delivered last season and the owners will have seen and experienced the claims about the potential the club has weren’t bullshit they’ve decided to back him. It wouldn’t surprise me if one or two had spoken to Bowyer at Wembley and heard, or read comments from fans, that his promotion season was wasted for want of a bit more backing in the transfer market. They will also see the results of their fellow countrymen backing Birmingham and Wrexham in the transfer market and now that if you go all in it can pay off.
I shared what I heard from a highly regular first teamer straight after Wembley who my lad and I have a good relationship with as we have sponsored his kit. He is a top top bloke.

To repeat his words the US owners met the whole squad at Sparrows Lane on the Thursday prior to the final and committed to them that if they get promoted they would invest to ensure that we were competitive in the Championship. He said they confirmed that they would unlikely be spending fees at the same level as Birmingham or Wrexham but would be investing to help us try to maintain Champ/continue to grow.

None of this spending is a surprise to me as a result as player X had no reason to lie about it. If we spent £8-10m on a player then I would have been shocked but not these levels. I personally expected around £8m fees and a massive hike in wages, so over the moon so far and if Knibbs comes in too (for a fee) just wow…!

Big thanks to the owners for the backing!
Hey Macauley, smash it in the corner to get us up, then we will replace you with a big money signing.

how to motivate your squad part 1
Well yes, that's exactly how you motivate your squad. Good players want to play with good players. They want to be in successful teams and they want to feel like they can win. If a rival for their position comes in they'll compete with them, meanwhile they'll be happy to see better players coming in in other positions. There's no quicker way to lose motivation in your squad then turning out an uncompetitive squad that hasn't been invested in and is doomed for relegation
It was not a serious post, in hindsight, I should have added a smiley face 😀

But more realistically Docherty or JRC would
cover for Coventry, and Anderson would get more game time.
  • Kerman is the new sniffer puppy. My gut feeling is he will have the same impact as Clive Mendonca. He’s a natural finisher and that’s what we’ve been missing since BWP

  • No Ramsey in the Cambridge squad…
    Injured

Both injured along with Mannion and Godden
  • Do you think Richie Wellens will be the first to congratulate CK ?

I bet he's sulking like a spoilt little brat!

Thanks for typing that, I keep getting his name wrong!

Joe Bennett could be a nice pick up. Looks pretty tidy on the ball.
Looks the better of the two trialists and in a position where we don’t have cover
